Dont agree with the Gulf War setting but Bad Company 3....ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY! They need to remain in the modern or near future for the next few BF games IMO, I dont want anymore of the WW2 or Golf anymore.
The biggest restriction with them doing WW1/2 era games, is that there just aren't that many options when it comes to vehicles, weapons, or customization. And the wide berth of options is a big part of what creates unique battlefield experiences - you could have 14 different vehicle types in one map. You could have 13 assault players on the team with completely different load outs.
For reference, BF4 released with *89* weapons. BF2042, according to a Reddit post in December 2023, had 22. I dont have the game so I can't verify but to go from 89 weapons on launch (not counting equipment) down to 22 is depressing.
golf war I don't think is bad fairly modern and hasn't really been done in video games other than indie titles
@@mercthejerk8945 I would argue the reason Gulf War hasnt been done is b/c it really wasn't "significant" when compared to other wars. I wouldn't mind more focus on the past 20 years, GWOT would be better than Gulf IMO. I would much rather get a Bad Company 3 though, something to continue the story with a single player/coop campaign

I am refusing to buy another DICE Battlefield Game. They do not like the franchise or their own community, not a single developer from the Battlefield 3 or 4 days is even left, who left after Battlefield 1. I think DICE needs to rebrand or change their name because its a totally different team now

A big plus is the fact that they aren't (hopefully) going to be dealing with a pandemic. Pretty sure between covid and trying to upscale to 128 players during such a crazy time didn't help matters.

@@SiMeTiMe IMO the problem wasn't that the server slots were increased, it was how it was implemented. doubling the server slots was a ridiculous call which directly caused multiple problems. before launch the devs seemed to have known about the problems and their causes, yet they didn't, couldn't, or weren't allowed to fix them.

I just started playing bf5 just to see what I missed by not playing it. While i prefer modern era FPS, i was really struck by how fundamentally different it is as a predecessor to 2042. It was like all if the devs for 2042 weren't involved in past BF games or played past BF games. As one could simply go back one game and find a pretty solid base to work from if just copied to 2042.
now. Go back one generation to Battlefield One. and you will truly be amazed.
you thought right, all the talented and experienced devs began leaving DICE after BF1 and basically all were gone for bf2042.
The movement system in battlefield 5 is so much better with the high vault, crouch run, jump roll and laying prone on your back. Every other bf game sucks for movement its so sad, devs didnt put in 100% effort they put in 25% effort
if it is indeed a tremendous live service game, it should span all eras. Give me all the famous battles from WW1 WW2 Vietnam to modern.

I personaly think it would be cool if we would see another game from a era we havent had yet, maybe something like Vietnam war or Korean war. it would be semi modern, but also not like super modern.

I agree with you that we can't say the next game is going to be worse, but I'm just expecting the worst to not be disappointed when the game comes out. I won't pre order and I'll be sure to watch a lot of gameplay videos first. I'm curious if they could actually pleasantly surprise me with their next game because I have always loved Battlefield (except 2042 and 5).
Big open maps like hourglass have their place. Its just about mitigating some of the issues of such maps for infantry

Enders, I know you're not being negative. The community needs to get a grip because you always give honest commentary.
When you played bfv, did you think the next title could be worse? That is all the reason i need. They surprised us in so many ways with things you would never think of with more than 10 minutes of bf experience. No scoreboard, no voice, no squad management. Rooftop capture points. Hovercraft going up walls. Coverless maps. Trying another br mode after failing just before, and again putting it behind pay wall when the alternatives are free. Just to name a few things. And they already proofed that they are resistant to learning from past mistakes or success. And no matter how often they fix things like net code, map design, gun play and recoil and input, they find a way to break it again. Only shop bugs get fixed in 24h. I'm so curious what we will actually get, but to me, anything is plausible, and we will not see it coming.

last night i had a dream that the next battlefield is bfbc3 and bro i cannot tell you how happy i was
things that give me hope if they happen like this:
they go back to 64 player modell which could lead to better maps and better server and client performance
the game is next gen only so they dont have to create it for that many platforms
they go back to classes
and they have more time / dont waste years of development making it a battleroyal / extraction type game or what ever they first did in 2024
Maybe 100 player mode or 80 if they could find a balance with bigger numbers and good maps

Another thing that probably helps is that the current DICE team has more experienced with Frostbite and map creation overall, afaik the 2042 team was not very expiernced given that it was relatively new devs working and old devs leaving

Just some quick micro points. Reduce the speed, it shouldn't be faster than bf5. No auto heal anything, if you can bunny hop and slide several feet you're playing cod not bf, no one shot weapons, weapons that may be one shot only one shot with a headshot, ballistic shields are dumb. My 2 cents.

I wonder if there ever will be a definitive edition of BF1942, BF2 Bad Company and BF3 (or even BF4 maybe?) Portal in BF2042 is pathetic and sad. There are a plethora of maps that could have been implemented inside of portal, especially now that older BF games get sunset. Not to mention the implementation of the campaigns or having community based maps and missions just like in BF4. Tragic and a truly missed opportunity imo. A separate definitive or hd or whatever edition aside from the next bf game would be nice.

Something worth pointing out is that Andrew Wilson never played 2042 during its development, likely because it was never in a playable state. The fact that the next battlefield game is already in a state to be presented to the CEO of EA to play this far out from release is, I think, a really good sign.

It's 99% likely that the next BF will be better than 2042, but realistically things can always be worse. There is still that 1% chance that it's worse than 2042. We can't know for certain until the beta but I would rather be in the mindset of it has the potential to be worse than be set and stone on it 100% being better, cause as we know DICE do what DICE does, and their latest track record doesn't reflect much faith. I hope it is better, of course but I'm staying on the fence.

Mean, I think it’s not gonna be up to snuff and I think it might be down to the culture inside of EA dice. There was a video put out by one of the original fallout devs that kind of explains why games are so slow to produce nowadays.
Regardless though I think I’m gonna like it that being said, I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to battlefield as long as I don’t feel like my guns are in accurate or way too short range there’s some satisfying movement in the game and I’m not constantly being dominated by things like snipers And vehicles and usually pretty happy happy another words just give me good shooting Shuti bang bang.

There was nothing wrong with suppression, it was actually an awesome part of 3&4.
Rewarding people for missing shots isn’t a good gameplay mechanic.
Suppression was poorly implemented in most games, but it was the only thing stopping LMGs from being useless, so in 2042 when it was removed completely they just turned into ARs with nut sacks and box magazines
@@LuckyPWAlmgs need a purpose other than being an assault rifle with extended mags. Obviously there should be some changes. Perhaps suppression would enable if you deploy your bipod

They removed suppression and removed a balancing metric. Bf4 lmg's became 200 round laserbeams. Bf1 lmg's were hold mb1 simulators, bf2042 all weapons are laserbeams. All they had to do was tone down the effect for AR's and SMG's shooting at you in bf3.
@@boyishdude1234 sure as long as it doesn’t make your aim go ballistic it’s fine, but the moment you reward someone for missing shots by making the other players bullets go sporadic or camera get all wobbly is the moment I think you’ve made a flawed system. From a realistic standpoint I get it but battlefield isn’t a realistic game. From a balancing standpoint for LMGs I get it, but you can look at a game like call of duty, and even though I despise that series, they seem to do a decent job with LMGs without a silly suppression system (at least from what I know).
Considering coalition forces lost 31 tanks and Iraq lost 3300 in the Gulf War, I certainly would hope it'd be an alternate history spinoff...

I think *some* milsim would be cool. Armor mechanics? Yes please, at least hit boxes or something. No Armor, gives +mobility +reload, Light armor gives you a small chest rig with a plate that stops 20% dmg, Medium armor gives you a little more coverage and 35%, Heavy armor gives you the Dozer look with the shoulder plates, the groin protector and a full Lv4 Plate, and stops 50-60% dmg but gives you -mobility, -run speed, -reload speed or something.
But the rest of the stupid milsim garbage like no minimap, healing taking forever, moving super slow, organ damage, 1 taps....fk the 1 taps, naw......a hair bit slower paced overall though? Yes please.
And ive played Arma 3, 1300 hours give or take, its honestly GARBAGE........many people might tout it as amazing, but no, its trash. Its buggy as fuck, its glitchy as hell, AI are cracked, armor is irrelevant and its about as far from "milsim" and "reality" as BF or COD.....its just overly clunky and awful to play. Cars flipping randomly, bases exploding for no reason, AI walking through walls, the game glitching me up onto the side of a house and then dropping me 10 feet to my death(no im not joking), the grossly exaggerated recoil and weapon sway. Vehicle combat is ass, armor is completely non-existant. No, those "Milsim" games are simply 1 tap fests. Ballistics are not at all realistics. 450m away and you just point and click at the target...I doubt it lol....guy in a lvl 5 Heavy armor plate and you go through it in 1 shot...umm, no?
I honestly would love to see a game actually more like the game Caliber in pacing and TTK. Armor mechanics kinda like Tarkov and maybe an advanced medical system where yes, you have to stop to bandage, but not overly nutz like what you can do in Arma where you gotta bandage every bullet wound, do CPR, give blood, give epis, give adenosine...no not that advanced. A Milsim light? A game that requires teamwork, coordination and tactics, and isnt run and gun OCD like COD and BF but doesnt go as far in the "milsim" direction as Arma, Squad and them........

Basically they need to make the game for hardcore battlefield people who wants competition and competitive matches. Like you said, screw the no score board, that stupid portal instead of browsers, no more of the 128 player stupid modes, leave out bots in online play , keep the bots in the campaign where they belong. bf1 engine bfv graphics bf4/3 setting weapons and maps (maybe like only take 2 of the best bf4 maps and 2 of the best bf3 maps and just create other new maps similar to bf3 and bf4)
If they don’t manage to have good maps or good class systems at the very least DO NOT FUCK UP THE MOUSE INPUT like make the gunplay good
