March 27, 2020: Massie's "no" vote on the 2 trillion dollar stimulus bill brought me to this and his Living Off the Grid videos. Although I consider myself a progressive liberal, I respect Massie. I admire his transparency and his conviction to not simply play politics as usual. A very rare politician.

Everytime a candidate or new congressman says, "I'm gonna clean this place up!" I cheer them on but I know in my heart they're fighting a losing battle. They go in there and maybe don't even understand that they are COMPLETELY surrounded by people whose entire career, the way they make money for themselves and their families, is through graft and massaging the rules.

The deal the LP has made with these great candidates is that we have to build a party that can get and keep them elected, then they will flip. Unilateral free trade would benefit Americans and remove power from politicians.

TK UA - Yes. And just in case you didn't know, the US manipulates its currency. Intellectual property theft is a crime, deal with the crime without punishing Americans with tariffs.

"Intellectual property: is the crime. It is not a valid form of property, but a government granted monopoly that is if anything even less compatible with a free market than direct subsidies.

I was disappointed that Massie claimed to "mostly support" Trump on his trade policy if I remember correctly. I understand the political implications of him pissing of economically illiterate protectionists amongst Republican voters, but I still don't like it. I can appreciate pragmatism while still having ideals.

We need an amendment that will unequivocally forbid the federal government from being in the entitlement, benefit, subsidy, and insurance businesses.

    • @2vnews902

It is not about being good. It is about incentives. If incentives are such as to pull towards cronyism, then you have a systemic problem that grows stronger than the “goodness”.

G.J. H I didn’t get that feeling at all. After all, Massie himself, with a few like-minded colleagues, is demonstrating how it CAN be done. It requires a level of intellectual integrity and resourcefulness that most people don’t possess, but his constituents seem to get it and they return him to DC every two years.
