  • Death Race, Dark Future, Mad Max... Gaslands! Gaslands pits racers against one another in armed vehicular combat where reaching the finish line isn't always the easiest way to win a race! READ MORE:
I'm not entirely sure why that first clip is so blurry, so my apologies! Still getting used to the new setup and there's a few tiny things left to tweak, I think.
The best thing about Gaslands is that you're free to use any Hot Wheels, Matchbox or similarly-sized car to play, and while you needn't necessarily convert them, that's half the fun! Slapping spare guns and plates of armour from your Space Marines or Orks on to a Matchbox car only takes a few minutes and it's an absolute laugh.
Check out the Gaslands official site for more information and the 'Friends of Gaslands' network where local distributors will be able to supply you with skid dice and maneuver templates: gaslands.com/store/

    Great job here Sledge!
For anyone looking to make their first foray into modding cars for Gaslands, this list I put together for a mate might give you some ideas:
    • Hot Wheels, Matchbox and Greenlight cars (the latter can be a bit delicate).
    • Dremel and wire brushes for weathering.
    • A 4.76mm drill bit is perfect for drilling out posts so that you can disassemble your cars. Go slow.
    • I find epoxy glue applied with an old brush to be more reliable than super glue, especially when bonding two different materials.
    • Biostrip 20 to strip the factory paint job off the diecast car bodies (there's nout better on the market for stripping metal or plastic minis either). Don't apply any strippers to the softer plastics of the interiors etc. They *will not* play nice.
    • Paperclips or fibre optic cable for aerials.
    • Large paperclips bent for roll cages and bars.
    • A fine aluminium mesh for replacing windows (the kind used for car body work). I use ISOPON.
    • Hot glue to stop the wheels turning. It works a treat and is easily removed down the line.
    • Bicarb sprinkled onto superglue to create a rust texture.
    • Weathering powders made from pastel shavings.
    • Oil washes thinned with white spirit for recess shading and weathering.
    • Ride eternal, shiny and Molotow Liquid Chrome.
    • Tamiya masking tape for putting down racing stripes (scientifically proven to make you roll better).
    • A tap set, tiny screws and washers so you can put threads into the drilled out posts. Makes future assembly/disassembly easier.
    • Anvil Industry and North Star Implements of Carnage sprues for weapons, drivers etc and their pewter minis.
    • Stuff from a big ol' bits bag. I recommend trawling eBay for people selling cheap bags of bits if you don't have many weapons etc.
    • Small necklace chain from eBay that scales well with 20mm/1:64.
    • Slide fit brass tubing for making new axles if I want to lift cars (1mm, 2mm, 3mm from Albion Metals).
    • Cocktail sticks for spikes.
    • Plain and diamond tread plasticard from Green Stuff World.
    • Shiny and matte topcoats depending on mood.

Any special rules for doing Gorkamorka? I've never played, but I remember reading about a rule where the audience would open fire on the least popular racer. It seems like a brilliant idea for a game.

    • @zid_just_zid
      @zid_just_zid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@evanlindsey1100 Special rules->The Gorkamorka rulebooks are available for free online, GW put them up in pdfs on their Specialist Games website back when that was a thing.
As for the audience firing on someone, that was probably reporting about the Gorkamorka racing events that were held back at GWs Games Day somewhere between 97 and 99.
Most of Gorkamorka takes place out in the desert and has gangs taking on each other rather than racing for an audience.

I learned about using drywall tape recently, as not only does it have an adhesive side, but reacts well to superglue. Apparently the plastic 'granny mesh' doesn't like superglue or other adhesives and can have some problems with actually staying on. I picked up a roll recently to try out for various projects.

Why asked is that I have seen on my old 78 Dodge Aspen with chrome headers and side pipes that the chrome basically looks the same as when a they paint the chrome on the hot wheels it looks very similar.
Over time the headers had some rust on it there were pitted areas on the side pipes as well, and discoloration of the pipes giving it an iridescent colouration to it.
So what I was thinking was transparent purples, blues, and either copper or bronze painted over the chrome parts of the pipes that are closer to the engine block causing this effect.
