On the bench today is a Matchbox SuperKings K-115 cab and a K-17 trailer that will serve as the base for a Gaslands style fantasy build. The main component will be a 3D resin printed Bell UH-1 Iroquois chopper, better known as a Huey.
The Bell UH-1 Iroquois is a utility military helicopter designed and produced by the American aerospace company Bell Helicopter. Development of the Iroquois started in the early 1950s, a major impetus being a requirement issued by the United States Army for a new medical evacuation and utility helicopter. A stretched version of the Iroquois, first flown during August 1961, was also produced in response to Army demands for a version than could accommodate more troops.
The Iroquois was first used in combat operations during the Vietnam War. It was used for various purposes, conducting general support, air assault, cargo transport, aeromedical evacuation, search and rescue, electronic warfare, and ground attack missions. Armed Iroquois gunships carried a variety of weapons, including rockets, grenade launchers, and machine guns, and were often modified in the field to suit specific operations.
The Iroquois was originally designated HU-1, hence the Huey nickname, which has remained in common use, despite the official redesignation to UH-1 in 1962.
In US Army service, the Iroquois was gradually phased out following the introduction of the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk and the Eurocopter UH-72 Lakota, although hundreds were still in use more than 50 years following the type's introduction. In excess of 16,000 Iroquois have been built since 1960.

I'm not a huge fan of Gaslands builds, but this one is absolutely awesome. I think a gun turret on the roof where the driveshaft for the rotor blades is would be totally bad a$$. Great work as usual Andrew.

119th thumbs up. Andrew, I was very much looking forward to this build and boy it didn’t disappoint. Really great journey, and I learned a lot about weathering and adding depth with the paint. Good on ya for that last-minute addition of rivet decals. This is a triumph and your enjoyment came through in spades - er, clubs. 😂

Another Fearsome Brute for the ever growing GasLands Terror Tribe. The detailing makes this one! Decals, undercoat and highlight and lowlight weathering with 3d mud buildup, air lines... So rich in the fine points. Fantastic to look at.

I would sell my mother to the North Koreans for the Matchbox collection that you're chopping up Especially since she trashed my collection.
I think this trailer came in a big eBay haul of incomplete and mismatched parts, so I felt it went to a worthy cause in this project. 🍁☕️👍
WTH is that warning at the beginning? I was making models at ten years old. Glue, paint and thinners/ strippers was no big deal. Stop treating children like they are fragile.
