Mony Mony was a Tommy James and the Shondells original. The title came to Tommy as he looked out the window and saw the MONY(Mutual of New York) sign on top of a skyscraper. The original was great but Billy's remake was so full of energy.👍🎶
Yr information is spot on. Tommy wrote soooo many great songs. Believe he wrote and produced Tighter Tighter for Alive and Kicking. Same goes for Sugar on Sunday by Clique. It's a travesty their not in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame yet the Gogos got in this yr. So crazy,!
Billy Idol has been my hero since I was 15 years old. Now at 55 I’m teaching my granddaughter about Billy. She loves him! He’s still putting out great music and I guess I will stan Billy til the end!
They edited out the audience "enhanced" lyrics. After " Here she comes now sayin' Mony Mony" the audience usually shouts "Hey! Hey what? Get laid get f****d!" This song was played at my high school (early 90s) by a travelling military Jazz and Rock band. When you have 1500+ students adding to the lyrics, 20+ teachers rushed the stage to get them to stop the song! Good memories!
I saw Billy Idol jump on stage, totally unannounced - like 6 years or so ago at a small music festival in LA and do this song ...complete surprise and the crowd went WILD as you can prolly imagine!! Great memory.
He says: "Let me know if you'd like me to check out any more of his songs..." Umm, yes, all of them? I don't think you've done "Hot in the City," "Flesh for Fantasy," or "Blue Highway" yet. And I think you nailed it: nobody does LIVE like Billy Idol.
Definitely FLESH FOR FANTASY and BLUE HIGHWAY and he’s still putting out great songs. He just released a new ep. Try the songs CAGE or RUNNING FROM THE GHOST.
Billy is a GOAT. Can't go wrong with any of his music. 'Got to be a lover'. Different sound, but sooo good! Speaking of 'Billys'...still hoping to see you react to another Billy Ocean song. Loverboy would be my choice 🤗
I used to go to dance clubs in the early 80s . They would play this song later at night. The dance floor was always filled at any one I would go to. It's such a fun song to dance to!!
I was in the crowd at this show when it was filmed... we got to see it performed 2 more times after the end of the show! They announced that it was being recorded and asked for no chanting... but there was definitely a lot of chanting!
I saw Billy Idol live at a classical theater from the 1930's in the 80's. A local college student drew a huge black & white drawing of Billy 10' x 20' as a gift. Billy loved the drawing so much he hung it as his backdrop on stage.
Guess that's a rap; he LEFT IT ALL on stage, as you like to say! 👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Billy Idol is one of my TOP favorite rock artist; very hard to OUTDO!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Little known fact: Billy Idol had a punk rock band called Generation X before his solo gig. As a teen punk rock girl in the late 80s, I loved his Gen X band. It's worth an investigation, Jay. Haha. And this song always got us hyped up at our school dances! Check out Eyes Without A Face by him too. A different tone, but so good.
I saw Billy in 1983 in Philly. He brings that energy for the whole show and the whole crowd was going nuts and jumping around for the whole show. Great Reaction
I saw this exact tour in Edmonton, Alberta, in 86 or 87. It was fantastic - thanks for showing it again!!!! Oh and major props for Steve Stevens, who is a amazing but extremely underrated guitar player!
If you think this has energy then you should try “to be a lover’ live at Wembley 1990. I was there with my gf and we barely spoke due to the intensity. Energy was 5 times bigger and for a moment I felt like Elvis was there to watch Billy. Just like Queen this was Billy’s moment at the Wembley. God bless you son
TListened to Billy Idol till my cassettes wore out. Then wore ourt another one! Then traveled across country by car and got to NYC where they played BI on the video screen super large on the alter turned video platform at the Limelight. I call it the summer of Billy Idol but it was more like two years. Love him.
you want to see Billy Idol live? he is currently on concert tour together with Journey through North America. Other outstanding songs from Billy are "to be a lover" with a stunning beat.. and "don't need a gun" .. is worth to listen by you
I see lots of great things about Billy Idol in the comments here. I also had the privilege to see him live, with Steve Stevens (amazing guitar player, he stole the show for me). His career was derailed in the early 90's, after the big accident he had ( he almost died and almost lost a leg). He was supposed to be in an Oliver Stone movie, I think "The doors" movie? He had to really stop working and it took him years to come back. An underrated song is "Speed" to me, from the movie of the same name (1994). It was so promising, but unfortunately it didn't last. I'm glad he still performs and looks healthy. ♥
You should have been in the clubs back in the day when this played. There was a response we would say after certain parts that really made it fun. I can’t repeat what it was because I could get censored. 😂😂😂
Great cover, perfect song for him. Originally done in 68 by Tommy James and the Shondells. Tommy wrote it and many other great songs. Wrote and produced Tighter Tighter for Alive and Kicking in 70. Great popular song.
Also would like to mention the Just a Gigolo video by David Lee Roth where he spoofs a few classic 80's videos including Billy Idol Dancing with Myself. That video should be next, it's crazy.

Jayvee, you need to listen to the original from Tommy James and The Shondells. Different, Psychedelic.
Thx for that info! Never knew that.
@@Mark-iv7np ....yes...he is the man behind T.T......genius.....
Billy Idol has been my hero since I was 15 years old. Now at 55 I’m teaching my granddaughter about Billy. She loves him! He’s still putting out great music and I guess I will stan Billy til the end!
Saw him in 84!!
I love billy idol but I wouldn't teach my daughter about him.
They edited out the audience "enhanced" lyrics. After " Here she comes now sayin' Mony Mony" the audience usually shouts "Hey! Hey what? Get laid get f****d!"

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
RITE......💯 dudes on one side girls on the other chanting it lol dose were the days🤣🤣
A friend of mine always scream get laid get paid. I couldn't take her anywhere! 🤣
I totally remember the "Get Laid Get F'd!" added in! As a matter of fact I still shout it out in my car when this song comes on.
our Canadian version was even more explicit, we went the "Eh Motherf###er get laid, get F***ed, we roll hard up here.

🤣🤣 "... All of them..." lmao perfect response! 😂❤️
Yep, I agree with those, Flesh for Fantasy, Dancin’ with Myself, White Wedding, Hot in the City, Eyes Without a Face, Blue Highway.
One of my favourites is Scream!
Definitely FLESH FOR FANTASY and BLUE HIGHWAY and he’s still putting out great songs. He just released a new ep. Try the songs CAGE or RUNNING FROM THE GHOST.
This performance could go on for an hour and wouldn't get tired of it!!
Billy is a GOAT. Can't go wrong with any of his music. 'Got to be a lover'. Different sound, but sooo good! Speaking of 'Billys'...still hoping to see you react to another Billy Ocean song. Loverboy would be my choice 🤗
DANCIN' WITH MYSELF was another chart topper! 🧨🧨🧨
This song is almost 40 yrs old and I saw him live 10 yrs ago and he was still rockin this hard. Amazing
The song is older than that.1960s, Tommy James
@@donnadubyak6504 I’m aware
This was such a big hit. It still makes me dance.
''Dancing with Myself'' ''Rebel Yell'' ''Speed'' '' Shock To The System '' ''L A Woman'' are excellente songs
I used to go to dance clubs in the early 80s . They would play this song later at night. The dance floor was always filled at any one I would go to. It's such a fun song to dance to!!
I’ve been a fan of Billy Idol since I first heard & saw him rocking on stage!! This one is one of his best - the crowd goes wild 💥🎸❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🎸💥
I was in the crowd at this show when it was filmed... we got to see it performed 2 more times after the end of the show! They announced that it was being recorded and asked for no chanting... but there was definitely a lot of chanting!
Yes! This guy. He had it and still does! Loved his cameo in The Wedding Singer, it's one of the first things I think about when I hear his name.
Oh my! Billy Idol is the textbook definition of energetic! LOVE him! Love the reaction!
Omg brilliant I nearly got up and danced on the bus 😂 going to work good pick jay
I saw Billy Idol live at a classical theater from the 1930's in the 80's. A local college student drew a huge black & white drawing of Billy 10' x 20' as a gift. Billy loved the drawing so much he hung it as his backdrop on stage.
Billy Idol, legend, nuff said. Love him, soundtrack to my teenage years, in the pub screaming along to his songs, having a great time with friends
BILLY IDOL is the bomb! ❤☄🔥🌟
What an entertainer ❤
He should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Saw him in 2005 when he was 50 and I was in the front row by the stage...he looked EXACTLY like this and had the same energy!
Billy is STILL amazing live and he's 66! I've seen him three times and met him once. He rocks!
Billy Idol and Steve Stevens LETHAL COMBONATION!!!!... Billy Idol has that timeless rocker look... He still can pull it off in his mid 60's
So fun. He’s still 🔥 and the cutest with his grandkids
One of my all time favorite 80's artist! Saw him live at The Ritz in NYC. Was a great show!
I saw Billy live in 1984. The energy was crazy
This song got us all up dancing anytime.........
Seen him twice and only a couple of years ago . I travelled across Australia to see him and ❤❤❤❤🧡🧡
He would not even have to sing. Billy Idol can walk out on any stage and the crowd is immediately amped up
your reaction was fantastic!!! this song never failed to fill the dance floor and bring everybody alive!!! such great energy
Guess that's a rap; he LEFT IT ALL on stage, as you like to say! 👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Billy Idol is one of my TOP favorite rock artist; very hard to OUTDO!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love this version and the original 60's version too. Two very different takes on the same song, both fitting their time. Rock on Billy.😀👍🎶📀❤️
Billy is Da man!! His new album is great too
He is the best grandfather to his grand daughter today. Sings to her, sits her up on piano etc.
I was thinking where it was live he wouldn't sound as good. Wow, the video proved me wrong! They sounded even better!! Amazing!
Brings back memories. I went to see Billy Idol in concert twice and definitely remember when they did Mony Mony.
Little known fact: Billy Idol had a punk rock band called Generation X before his solo gig. As a teen punk rock girl in the late 80s, I loved his Gen X band. It's worth an investigation, Jay. Haha. I have loved this song since forever.. I can remember this at a wedding in the early 90s
Billy Idol was/is a true rock star! Maybe the ultimate.

Oh and major props for Steve Stevens, who is a amazing but extremely underrated guitar player!
Loved your reaction, kinda hard to just sit in your seat and not get up and dance..awesome song ❤

Jayvee "Dancing with Myself" is the Best from Billy♥️
You need to play this as your morning wakeup call! Everyone is flexing here on stage.

Saw him live a couple of times, and yeah, it’s the same great energy all night long 🤩😁
Great song that always packed the dance floor. Brings back many awesome memories. Everybody singing "hey MF'er get down and get F'ed."
I saw him in concert at the Fox theater St Louis Missouri. He was great.
Oh my goodness! I remember this coming out & being shocked when my dad started singing along to it!
I just love your reactions. You're such a genuine person. And yeah Billy Idol is and was great
Another motivation dance song...
Unreal rhythm, beat, and his raspy voice just pumps adrenaline in your legs and fist pumps 😆
I just did some fist pumps lol.
I was never into punk rock but I like Billy Idol.
Got to see him live in August 2021. He sounds just as good as he did then! "Flesh for Fantasy" is his best song, imho.
Flesh for Fantasy is a good choice...I agree...God I miss 80's music!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is all energy!!
We played this song at my nephew's wedding party. We had so much fun! Everyone got up and danced all night. Most requested song!!!

I'm moving with you to this video! The dance floor gets crowded with this song, and all the fists hit the air with every "ya"!
Rebel Yell! By Billy Idol!!❤❤❤❤
Rocking to the beat. Great stuff Jay! 🎵
And let us not forget, Joni Mitchell did a duo with him on one of her later albums. Check it out. Greatness.
Yeesss!!! Saw him live! Amazing
Such a fun song!!!!!!
Yea, I've just come in from work and that just woke me up.. 👌
I saw this concert when he toured that year - it was brilliant. Such a great performer !
LOVE the instruments on this live version!
Wow what a cover version 👍👍👍👍
yep this will wake u up for sure!!
I can dig it !
You should have been in the clubs back in the day when this played. There was a response we would say after certain parts that really made it fun. I can’t repeat what it was because I could get censored. 😂😂😂

The Stranglers did a version of Mony Mony under the name Celia and the Mutations, which is my favourite version.

Ive not heard this song is years, think it must have been an older version but still the same good feeling jibe x
So sad you can't have the video, so much more fun to see it in the reaction. But Billy is great, loved him since he first started :)
Great cover, perfect song for him. Originally done in 68 by Tommy James and the Shondells. Tommy wrote it and many other great songs. Wrote and produced Tighter Tighter for Alive and Kicking in 70. Great popular song.
Get it, J!!!!
Never got his due of how good he was as a rock singer. He got sucked into the crap on MTV and got overlooked how good he was in his time.
Also would like to mention the Just a Gigolo video by David Lee Roth where he spoofs a few classic 80's videos including Billy Idol Dancing with Myself. That video should be next, it's crazy.
I dare anyone to listen to this and NOT get hyped.
