Police need only be able to articulate a “reasonable suspicion” that you are about to commit a crime in order to perform a brief investigatory detention and frisk for weapons. This is what is called “stop and frisk.”
Probable Cause is only required when doing a standard search (not just a frisk for weapons), and then requires a warrant, unless it falls under one of the (narrow), search exemptions to search warrants, for example the vehicle exemption (theory being that the evidence will be driven away before a warrant can be issued), plain site, consent, and international border crossing.

No, the "Hidden Blade" like-weapon as they like to call it has been around for centuries. Ubisoft didn't invent that, you just can't use the name. They can't sue anyone for creating such a weapon.
The very first knife from Cross and the Switchblade is interesting. It's a real Italian double-action trapdoor OTF, which was later copied as the Super Automatic/NATO OTF.

@YoikoHibiki Probably the eighties or the nineties. In regards to not seeing them as much recently...you might be suprised. I've been compiling the list for more recent decades and it is already very long. The difference in more recent years is that they are subtly used tactical knives, as tools more often, and not so much as glorified evil weapons. I'll be posting up vids for the more recent years soon :)

you should post a list of Movies that used a Balisong or a Butterfly knife.
There is actually quite a few American movies w/ Balisongs such as The Outsiders with Two-Bit Matthews Butterfly Knife. which appears i think 2 times.
Its a high probability that some Philippine movies may have a Balisong in it. as the Balisong is heavily originated with the Filipino's

It is the portrayal of switchblades in movies like this, as somehow much more dangerous than a regular knife, which is responsible for them being banned many places. Now I am not saying that these are not some awesome scenes, I am only saying this is the reason they were banned. Switchblades (any knife automatically opened with a button) are in no way more dangerous than a regular knife. "They are quicker to open", that is false, regular knives can be opened even more quickly that switchblades.
