Fall brainstorm! Pumpkin pie using the bourbon vanilla in the filling and then also again in the homemade whipped topping! I personally just make the filling and bake it in an 8X8 pan and cut it into squares and serve that way. And when I make the whipped topping, I leave it a tad loose, so it kind flows over the square of pumpkin “custard” (can I call it that?) with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice over the whole luscious fall moment! Happy Friday friends!!!🍁🍂
Ohhhh my goshhh! I found you a few days ago & im obsessed!! 😂 totally going to make EVERYTHING!! 😂 so glad I found you! Time to get back to basics yall!! 🥰
Thank you for sharing this. I didn’t start homemade vanilla extract the traditional way. So this is on my todo list. BTW, I love your rants and when you tell yourself to get moving it along. You make me laugh. It’s as if you’re talking to one of your girlfriends. And yes, alcohol is so much more expensive here in Canada.
I'm glad you tried instant pot extracts. I divide the time in half and run it twice because it's safer than keeping alcohol at max pressure for 30 minutes at once.
I love this! I wanted to make extracts for Christmas but missed the boat because of my gardening. But this is a game changer! I also want to give the peppercorn thing a go. Not only would the pepper be amazing but the alcohol would be amazing! 😅
My favorite recipe in my instant pot is Cajun Red Beans and rice (well, the rice is cooked in a rice cooker). Camelia red beans has a wonderful recipe for instant pot. Taste like its been cooking in a slow cooker all day. Will give the extracts a try as I've never heard of that technique before. Great work, keep it up.
Rada knives should sponsor you because you’re using a Rada Knife to slice the Vanilla Bean. It’s my favorite Brand of Knife. I love your videos, thank you. I’ve been going crazy each day, making your recipe for fabric softener for Christmas gifts. I’m in NC.
I don't have an instant pot and not sure if I would even use it, but this would be nice for an easy Christmas gift. I used to make a bourbon pumpkin pie, I am sure that the bourbon vanilla would be amazing in that. I am so happy that I found your channel a few months ago because I am in love with your personality and humor and the way you and hubby are together on video. But mostly I enjoy all of the home made things you teach us.
You always share the best recipes with us. Would love the meatball, horchata and scalloped potato recipes. With the holidays coming up those would be awesome. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome 👌 I think I'll try some that way. I got a 26 oz of Spiced Rum, can't wait. Take care, you two 😅. Enjoy dinner and looking forward to the upcoming recipes. 😊
Thank you for this option. Going to give it a try. All the homemade vanilla extract I’ve done has been very weak no matter how many beans I put in it. Might even jar up what I have going already and run it to see if it will get stronger. Thank you! New subscriber
Thanks for this recipe. I have an instant pot brain new.And I haven't even used it yet. But now that I see your video and I love it i'm gonna try this.❤❤😊
Super fun! I'll try that method soon. But I've heard you can use the bourbon vanilla in anything you use the vodka in. It doesn't change the flavor much. I just now started mine, so I'm excited to see
Excited to try this, thanks for sharing your expertise so faithfully, you have so many wonderful fun projects to try on here. Keeping me and my daughter busy trying new things!
I am new to your channel but I have watched and commented on a few of your videos and I love that you are interactive back! I absolutely love your videos and I look forward to seeing more!! Love your outfit and you look beautiful! I was not aware that you can speed up the process of making vanilla extract and will be trying this soon and I’m SOOOO looking forward to your husband’s horchata and scalloped potato recipes!!! I’m going to search for that cookie recipe you were talking about.
It’s a tricky one since most commercial have sugar in them so the taste is different from homemade. That being said you need whole hazelnuts that you have peeled the skin off. Fill your jar with hazelnuts and cover with vodka. Let it sit for 6 months of process in the instant pot and let sit for a month before using.
Hi Ali, is there a way to make vanilla extract without alcohol? I am enjoying your videos., thank you. Watching them gives me the warm fuzzies and growing up in Monrovia... Auntie Pam (if I my still use the Auntie)
Hi!!!! You will forever be my Auntie Pam ❤️ How are you??? It has been far too long. Please email me at littlehillhomesteadga@gmail.com so we can catch up. You can make it without alcohol. Here’s the link the that video. th-cam.com/video/gnOJSRBOjXI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=E4IQARM-Uhtif1oU
Get to know your pressure pot and you’ll use it a lot. Hugely useful device for soup, hard boiled eggs, baked potatoes, chili, I’ve even baked brownies in mine.
I copied the recipes from your extracts video. Would i use the same amounts to make the extracts using my instant pot? Thinking I'll make a few different extracts that our grandchildren can give their teachers for Christmas. Thanks!
I've never heard of instant pot extract. Can't wait to make some vanilla extract in our instant pot. We live in ENC and can only buy liquor in an ABC store & wines can be purchased in a grocery store. Except on Sundays you can't purchase either one. Waiting in anticipation for the scalloped potatoes recipe, horchatta, meatballs & let's be honest ALL of your recipes 😉
I use my IP several times a week. I bought it second hand and it didn't come with all of the pieces or manual. It took me a while to figure out that my duo nova has an automatic sealing feature. I'm a huge fan of using my various sizes stove top pressure cookers all winter to make various meals.
Come to Canada cause u would pay $20.00-$25.00 for the bourbon..that's cheap to me..I'm going to try this..bet it smells and taste great..thanku for sharing this receipe..have a great day..oh and our beer is almost $60.00for a case of 24..😮
Oh yes and we all hate milk bags lol..yes prices here r terrible..well I hope ur kid really enjoys canada..hope they r prepared for winter cause it can get very cold and damp..❤❤❤
Sadly, she is not making that up. It really is that expensive. Don't even get me started on the price of cigarettes. They call it a "sin tax." Fortunately, I quit smoking long before any of this insanity began. The rationality is that since we have nationalized health care, those with habits that will almost certainly cause expensive health problems in the future should be made to shoulder the expenses in advance.
@@mustwereallydothis But is the healthcare system good? I have someone in my life who lives there and needs annual cancer screening for skin cancer due to the death of her mother from it. They don't do this for her. They tell her to lost weight when she goes in and don't even look at the issue she came in for. Our heather care system in the US is crap and all about the money, it is terrible what it has turned into. Ugh! don't even get me started 🤐
@LittleHillHomesteadGa Our health care system has been excellent in my part of the country. There were many years of my life when I spent almost more time in hospital than out, had countless expensive tests, procedures, and surgeries, been on home IV therapy for years, and taken more air ambulance trips than I could count. None of it cost me a cent. I've also never once had a procedure, surgery, medication, or medi-vac flight even questioned by anyone outside of my own medical team or had to even speak to anyone about how it all got paid for.
Ok I need help. I followed your instructions and it’s been 3 weeks. I’ve been shaking it every few days. The outside of the mason jar smells amazing of vanilla but when I open the jar, I get very strong bourbon still. I’m trying to have this ready before winter break and I’m worried. Would putting it in the Insta Pot twice be bad? I used 10 beans in a 16oz mason jar and used the same exact bourbon brand as you for reference.
You should be good for it to be ready for holiday stuff. I think you could run it through the Instant Pot one more time without issue. Mine has a bourbon smell plus a vanilla flavor. The bourbon sticks around. If you use a clear alcohol like rum it isn't as noticeable. I think the bourbon adds a great flavor to baking.
You do things exactly like I do. Start it, think about it, change it and go! LOL. My parents used to call it 'flying by the seat of your pants". No idea why but....
Most of the extracts I’ve seen have been with alcohol. I did find one that uses food grade vegetable glycerin. Mine took a year to make really good vanilla extract. 6 months to make hazelnut extract. Do you know if one could speed up the process by using an IP? Or if you don’t know, perhaps another viewer might.
Ha ha, call my sister and borrow hers. 😂 I’m not sure how it will do in a stovetop canner. You can always try it and let me know but I couldn’t even begin to guess what pressure or how long.
For those of you that only use your instapot to make yogurt that is a very expensive yogurt machine. Have you tried not buying canned beans and doing your own when you want to make soup. I used to simmer my chicken and Jill it got tender enough to make soup now I take my thighs pop them in for 15 minutes take them out put in my vegetables do those for five and and release and pre-cook my jasmine rice take my thighs cut them up put them back in super cool enough so that you don't overcook your rice by putting it's in too soon and there's chicken soup in 20 minutes cuz you cook your rice right alongside of doing your instapot. I do not suggest putting your rice into the broth in the instapot doesn't work. Browning a piece of meat and getting it tender. And I got my free instant pot somebody set it out cuz they didn't want it.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa No, was wondering if basic heating of it would work. According to Idaho State Univ. 30 minutes at 173 degrees would burn off 35% of the alcohol so thinking perhaps that'd affect storage life.
I make a cup of hot water and add a shot of bourbon, squeeze of lemon juice and honey to your liking. They are the best when you are sick and help you sleep. 😴
That's not the old pressure cooker my grandma had 😆 I came home one night, 30+ years ago, and my husband had cooked dinner. For some unknown reason...he decided to cook broccoli in the pressure cooker. Ummm 🤔 it ended up all over the ceiling!! He was unharmed. But my God, did the kitchen stink!
