hey dude, i have a suggestion for an rpg that you can talk about, it's pretty unique and it's called oddventure. You should play it, youll love it for sure, it's an earthbound and undertale inspired rpg in it's own kind.
I know it's been a month but I still like to ask you can you do a fandom files episode on Gundam seed I would usually say 00 wing or iron blooded orphans but I said seed because it happens to have the worst case of the fandom fanbase in the Gundam community so which channel to better ask than you
Barbot's death was the one that hit me the hardest. "I always wondered if I was truly conscious. Now I suppose I'll finally know." Then you kill him, and the soul counter doesn't go down.
This is a classic. An absolute gem. Thank you so much. I wish more people would buy this experience, but even if they don't, time will always love Everhood.
Regarding green mage's corridor, the tally marks aren't even all years he's been there. He commented that he eventually was driven mad and stopped counting them. And even before starting, that used to be brown mage's job. So not only we have 6 million confirmed years lived, he have unknown years before that time, and after that time. If 6 million years is already an insane number, imagine the possible actual number of years it has passed.
2:16 Actually, while there is a photosensitivity warning at the start of the game and a photosensitive mode that you can enable in the settings at any point, Everhood has actually passed multiple photosensitivity and seizure tests and has been cleared of being a high risk to those with epilepsy.
Now that's impressive, they really wanted to make a game everyone could play and enjoy, no exceptions. (Except for those who hate rhythm games or RPGs... Poor mfs)
It seems though it still isn't totally safe though! I've seen some people complaining about the lights, even some having to partially cover the screen to play **cough cough** gnomes...
Professor Orange's battle is an interesting case. His battle theme... is not part of the OST itself. It is called Barge, and it is a ROYALTY FREE TH-cam SONG
Wait the name of this thing is everhood, it consists of a land of wacky characters of the unique art style, oodles of lore and a long ass hallway that you have to painstakingly go down with something at the end, in a lot of ways this everhood is sounding like neverhood
I was just wondering "hmm, today should I play a rythm game, or an RPG?" and suddenly you upload this. Two of my favorite genres? And bullet hell incuded, other of my favorite genre? AWESOME
Edit: really want to echo/suggest you play the game before watching the video. This is one of those games that is best played when you know nothing about it. I've been waiting for a bigger channel to review this game and give it the attention it deserves. My two cents before watching the video: I finished this game like a week ago and it's still sticking with me. I wouldn't say the story is ultra groundbreaking, but the personality of the characters and the surreal dreamlike ambience of the whole experience makes it a world I already feel nostalgic for. I'm not really someone who does New Game+ modes, but I definitely will be since I genuinely want to just hang out with the characters more and uncover some of the mysteries the game packs in. It's a unique feeling 😌. I also came across this video after listening to Green Mage's battle music, so the music is fire too 🔥
Honestly the game is heavily inspired by undertale and it works so well. It's like undertale's sister and this sounds kind of pretentious it's plot had a lot more depth than undertale. It's like the plot knows what it is and directly tells you what it is(in a good way) which plays into the whole theme of the plot so well
Honestly i would call Everhood the yang to Undertale's yin. While the latter is about how not every fight needs to end with violence and the "good ending" is the pacifist one, the former is about how nothing lasts forever wih the best ending having you kill every single thing in existance.
What is amazing about everhood is that it's main story just goes on and on. In that sense, it does extend futher than Undertale, where you have to dig to find those secrets, sometimes doing things you wouldn't normally do, unlike Everhood that guides you along that path. Undertale's strength is being a single story with multiple concrete endings depending on the player's actions, which Everhood doesn't have. Undertale can potentially have an equally lengthy play time depending on how often you dive in to dig for unique dialogue and endings. Both are equally unique in their mechanics and their lore, props to all parties involved!
In some ways Undertale has a lot more lore around it but it also takes a lot more time to get through the meat of its content. That's not to say Everhood doesn't have deep lore, but it seems like the key difference is that its lore is a lot more condensed.
i really loved playing through everhood, but it felt like it was trying too hard to be undertale in some parts? idk i just didn't get the best experience out of it. it was still good but it just felt off yknow
I know this is an old comment, but, no, I adore both series, but Everhood's plot certianly isn't deeper than Undertale's, They're both fantastic, but in terms of story/plot/writing/lore Undertale has so many layers and complexities most fans aren't even aware of. Certianly well within your right to prefer whatever story you do, I'd say Everhood suprasses Undertale in many ways greatly myself, but like, no, it's plot is certianly not deeper than Undertale, people flanderize Undertale's writing aspects greatly not taking more subtle details or Neutral routes into consideration. Everhood is a phenomanal game, certianly, but calling the actual plot/story/lore more in depth than UT is frankly wrong. Undertale has thousands upon thousands of lines of text across countless playthroughs, much seeming unimportant actually fleshig things out more than many realize (AHEMnarrationAHEM), people like the Deltacast showcase it's depth well. Everhood's writing/story is also phenomanal, and whichever game/story/message you enjoy more is incredibly valid either way, but saying it has more story depth than UT is just not right, and I'll say the two major writing flaws UT has before most and adore Everhood.
Hey I just finished the game, obtaining every ending besides the corridor yet, and this game is absolutely GREAT! It is a perfect game, and Im so happy that there is going to be a sequel. PRAYING for Green Mage's return, they were too good
The whole Cat God thing makes me question if the dev gnomes, gnomes, cat god and even that Buddah/Christ looking figure are all cooperating, and if by freeing the characters and them being "reborn" that it could just be continuing the loop again with all characters being returned back in a form before their transformations, doomed to relive their lives over and over without any idea of the majority of previous instances of their existances. I mean, some characters didn't know they were immortal, some knew, some had a form prior to what they became, some had memories that convinces them of being turned into immortals, and heck, even the Brown Mage appears to be quite aware of the mental deterioration that immortality is doing to some people, and also being aware of the three gems' power, and even potentially knowing of a prior existance but not knowing that there might already have been multiple instances before that (Brown Mage thought Everhood was the afterlife. Might just be ONE so-called "afterlife".). And yeah, this may sound outrageous, but take note that the dev gnomes and regular gnomes appear during Cat God's fight, the gnomes, dev gnomes, the "Buddah/Christ"-looking character, and even the rainbow cube thing appears in one battle together, and the gnomes even appear at the very end along with the "Buddah/Christ" character, congratulating the player/pink for continuing on, and with both the cube and the deity making the ending drawn-out and long rather than just a happy goodbye (with characters fading away and seemingly disappearing and being at ease, just to appear again during the deity "fight".) It all just seems... Too closely associated, to not be related. Heck, New Game + has new events, so that literally could be the next loop (with a few new guests), the second one that the player witnesses, but maybe not even the second to happen. In fact, i doubt the "killing devs" secret is actually truthful. The five gnomes laugh when finding the jump rope, after the jump rope when they open the path to the aquamarine gem that can be used to "kill" the devs, so since those laughs belong to the gnomes, this means they're the ones that laugh at the start of the feint credits when red gets their arm back, at the start of the "pacifist" credits, and even at the start of the Dead Devs Credits. The three gems are even used on a catgod statue that takes the player/red to the dev gnomes. Like.. What's going on here? Is the dev "Deaths" just a joke being played out for the sake of entertaining the player? And even the "Pacifist" ending is odd. Frog talks about having failed his task, and what seems to be the "Buddah/Christ" character reassures him and says "You have fought well.", and then seemingly gives him his Peace? If the deity character could just fix Frog's immortality and suffering problem, why don't they do it for others that suffer? Like Harrowed Hailey who suffers because of Professor Orange? Why make the player/pink have that burden and guilt over a situation that almost no one seemingly has control over? And then there's the Cosmic Hub Doors. Why are they encouraging the player/pink? Why are they even personalised rather than just be doors? Is it just to add to the experience for the player? To further guide them to continue to the ending? It's really weird, but the gnomes, dev gnomes, cat god and "deity" feel really suspicious.
Tip for anyone attempting Green Mage’s corridor, here’s some things I discovered while doing it myself, Put a weight on the right arrow key so Red will continuously run. (Make sure to double tap before) Once you reach the rocks, instead of doing it entirely manually, place down the weight so Red is walking instead of running. The reason is so you can move Red indefinably but you can still control Red with W and S to dodge the rocks. Also, between the rock rooms there will either be 1-2 empty rooms, for this you can double tap and hold the A key to start running, then let go when the rocks appear again. You’re welcome.
Glad to see the game already getting this level of praise. I love the game so much, and to see it shared brings me true joy. Keep up the good work and have a nice day.
Thank you so much for making a video of this game! I found this by sheer luck on a sale, and Im so glad that I did. I hope this game gets the attention and praise it deserves. Since the game seemed so interesting after seeing the intro of this video I went ahead and bought it. No regrets! Loved the game until the end! Thank you so much for making this video!
one of the best ideas iv played in a while i lost a hand full of battles just jaming out to the music sometimes it comes down to the music of combat im a huge raver i wont them to turn the music into something i can download and rave to
Thank you for giving that intro before the spoiler section, I got convinced to try the game...I'll edit the comment when I finish it, I like these kind of games
my personal rating of the game and why (MAJOR SPOILERS, BE WARNED): i was introduced to everhood by my dad when we were taking a trip to new mexico, and the trailer came out. after we got home from our trip, my dad bought the game on the family pc. needless to say, i was amazed within 10 minutes of starting up the game. it had lovable characters, great music, and challenging levels, *very* challenging levels. the storyline also piqued my interest, as it always just keeps you guessing. it’s hard to know what is happening or where to go, but that’s all part of the fun! midnight town was personally my favorite, it was pretty silly and i loved the minigame within it and the characters. speaking of the characters, most if not all of them have hilarious dialogue, and the gnomes _really_ tripped me out, making me lose a lot. the areas are also quite interesting, with the circus having a fake door, the forest basically being a maze (the bushes and trees kinda creeped me out ngl), and the blue door being a 3d environment. the bossfights are all masterpieces, especially the red-haired scientist, professor orange, and his robot. the end is kinda sad, but also fun like the rest of the game. the final fight towards the sun was INSANE, yet quite enjoyable. like you said in the beginning of the video, the game is the most fun when you’re new to it. i 100% recommend buying this game. tldr: awesome game, lovable characters, great challenges, greatly recommended overall rating: 11/10
I wanted to buy Everhood for a few months now, and kept myself spoiler-free until I boguht it, and thanks to Steam's summer sale, today was thst day. Man, it is AMAZING. I'm happy I remained blind and knew nothing until now, it is really good to figure out everything by myself.
Hey mong, have you played the mega man starforce games, if not I suggest you do, they have the second best story in the entire series, only behind battle network
Hey RPG Monger are you planning to do a video about "Lisa:The Painful RPG" in the future? if you do I will be happy to see it! (If you don't know about "Lisa:The Painful RPG" its an RPG game that came out in 2014 for RPG-Maker, and it is one of my personal favorite RPG games).
I'd love to as it's by far one of my favorite indie RPGs! The problem with it though is I'm not sure what I'd be able to contribute with it as it's already been covered a good bit. But hey if I can figure out a way to add something new, yeah I'd absolutely cover it.
I’m not really a rhythm game type of guy but this looks fun! The only thing I don’t like about is the trippy colors... they don’t make me feel good....
HOLY SHIT NEW VIDO!!!!!!! i clicked on it not knowing it was you and thought "who tf is this he sounds so familiar" and then i saw the iconic blue stripes background, not wathcing the whole video because i dont wanna get spoiled but i hope your doing well
definitely go in blind, I watched someone stream this thinking I was in for a fun ride but both the players and the chat on twitch was super toxic calling the game 'up it's own ass' and would attack anyone who was trying to give their opinion on the lore or add to theories.
I honestly don't get this game's plot; me and someone else have a theory 'Call of the Void'; causing humanity to despise and see immortality negatively, only a few being immune. This whole game R E E K S of the Call
More lore stuff. Spoilers to whoever clicks read more. So. You didn't include the gnomes, for starters, but anyways. It seems like there are multiple beings who are all working under the same cause. These consist of the Buddhism guy, who is there to help guide the souls out of the waiting room. The main god of Everhood, who tells you the absolute truths and serves as the being who orchestrates you freeing everyone's souls. He is also the one who turns humans into an immortals once they reach Everhood. His followers consist of the Frog, the Lost Souls, the Doors, and Pink. The ancient looking beings (in the car crash flashback, those 2 being you can find) have always been there to guide dead humans to Everhood so they can become immortal. All of these beings are joined together to try and liberate and free Everhood from it's endless existence. They all also test you throughout the story to see if you have what it takes to get the job done. Then there are the beings who do their own thing. Let us start with the gnomes. The gnomes seem to be split, some are helping with the cause of freeing Everhood, others are helping the cat god. They are free spirits, and they each do their own thing. The devs are there no matter what path you take, supporting and challenging you. They are there to follow you on your journey. Then there is the cat god (Sam is just an immortal who stumbled upon the cat god, until more details can be found to connect them). The cat god is trying to do the opposite of the main story. It's goal is to make sure Everhood exists forever, because if Everhood dissapears, the cat god will cease to exist. That's why they guard that house which has the cutscenes of Yellow being created, the cat god intentionally makes sure that the loop continues. They also are staying hidden from the god of Everhood, by using a hidden door that they stay in. The origins of the cat god are unknown, my guess is that the cat god came from a different realm which was destroyed, or maybe they are an outcast of that other realm, this is to explain the other door in the house which shows the trippy stuff. Then there is the other hidden character, Cazok, who might be the most powerful being in the game. He seems to be the being who creates living bodies for immortal souls to control, but that is just my guess. He seems to exist in many different realms besides Everhood. Then there are the lamps, who are neutral and always support the player. They resemble time, and how it exists within Everhood. You are able to go back in forth in time using save files, you can also reset timelines by deleting or overwriting save files. There are a few others that I didn't mention but I know little about them currently and they don't seem to be involved in the plot much. Irvine for example, is just there to show you that other realms besides Everhood exist.
Nice video, but how tf did you notice the frog guitar switching during the fight? I barely noticed anything the whole game because I was looking at my character dodging lol

So good. Everhood is a masterpiece.
Thank you for making this video! This game needs WAY more love and I'm so glad it's growing!
At last, we can have a Neverhood + Everhood speedrun
Such a good review man, congratulations. You deserve many more views
Gonna save this to my watch later because you did a very good job convincing me to pick up the game. I’ll be back after completing it!
aaand u did it?
Did you do it ?
Play Everhood, one of the characters is an ATM and there's a single racing game segment and really what more could a game need
one of the best ideas iv played in a while i lost a hand full of battles just jaming out to the music sometimes it comes down to the music of combat im a huge raver i wont them to turn the music into something i can download and rave to
That feeling when Everhood 2 is on steam but has no release date...
my average thought process when playing this game was "is this trying to indoctrinate me into a cult or just give me a seizure"
Everhood 2, baby!
Also since you're the rpg guy, check out the extremely brutal yet very deep Fear & Hunger.
I love unique battle themes! I love rhythm based attacks! I gotta play this game yo!
I’m loving these weird RPG’s we’ve been getting lately. This makes me hyped for Chicory, I hope you cover it once it comes out!
This game puts the "Geno" in "Genocide"
I don't know much about the lore, but let me tell you one absolute truth.
Cat's just vibe, be it in real life or in game.
I am finally able to watch this. This looks so amazing, prob will give this a try after i move and get settled.
Thank you for giving that intro before the spoiler section, I got convinced to try the game...I'll edit the comment when I finish it, I like these kind of games
I KNEW YOU WOULD COVER EVERHOOD
This game is so much fun
This game is pretty great. I've been playing it and the music and bosses are so great.
my personal rating of the game and why (MAJOR SPOILERS, BE WARNED):
i was introduced to everhood by my dad when we were taking a trip to new mexico, and the trailer came out. after we got home from our trip, my dad bought the game on the family pc. needless to say, i was amazed within 10 minutes of starting up the game. it had lovable characters, great music, and challenging levels, *very* challenging levels. the storyline also piqued my interest, as it always just keeps you guessing. it’s hard to know what is happening or where to go, but that’s all part of the fun! midnight town was personally my favorite, it was pretty silly and i loved the minigame within it and the characters. speaking of the characters, most if not all of them have hilarious dialogue, and the gnomes _really_ tripped me out, making me lose a lot. the areas are also quite interesting, with the circus having a fake door, the forest basically being a maze (the bushes and trees kinda creeped me out ngl), and the blue door being a 3d environment. the bossfights are all masterpieces, especially the red-haired scientist, professor orange, and his robot. the end is kinda sad, but also fun like the rest of the game. the final fight towards the sun was INSANE, yet quite enjoyable. like you said in the beginning of the video, the game is the most fun when you’re new to it. i 100% recommend buying this game.
tldr: awesome game, lovable characters, great challenges, greatly recommended
overall rating: 11/10
I wanted to buy Everhood for a few months now, and kept myself spoiler-free until I boguht it, and thanks to Steam's summer sale, today was thst day. Man, it is AMAZING. I'm happy I remained blind and knew nothing until now, it is really good to figure out everything by myself.
very fun game, im about half-way through no hitting all the bosses and they added custom battles too which is great
A TH-camr who loves everhood
The Midnight Town's design really gives me The Neverhood vibes and i refuse to believe it's a coincidence
Hey mong, have you played the mega man starforce games, if not I suggest you do, they have the second best story in the entire series, only behind battle network
Damn, I guess this video didn’t show up in my feed? Really wish I could’ve known about this game sooner hahaha
Wow!
Nice video about a good game!
I also love Everhood's gameplay and story too!
i actually don't know what to write but I want!
Oo!
6:25 you made the right choice man, you made the right choice.
I'll enjoy this one.
Also, welcome back.
The video is about a game called “Everhood”
*starts with a clip of Hylics*
I see what you did there
Wow, thanks, I checked out the demo and while at first I wasn't impressed with the fights, at the end of it I was very impressed. I'll have to buy it.
I’m not really a rhythm game type of guy but this looks fun! The only thing I don’t like about is the trippy colors... they don’t make me feel good....
everhood's music really slaps
can't believe they added gaster undertale
HOLY SHIT NEW VIDO!!!!!!! i clicked on it not knowing it was you and thought "who tf is this he sounds so familiar" and then i saw the iconic blue stripes background, not wathcing the whole video because i dont wanna get spoiled but i hope your doing well
Frog is the anti sans attacking you because you want to do a pacifist run
(I was about to make a geno joke but everyone already made one)
Really good video!!
Hey have you played vindictive drive?
What did you think of the Everhood 2 trailer
You say "Everhood", i immediately hear and think "The Neverhood" ;)
LSD-themed No Straight Road is what this feels like to me.
I am not encouraging drug use in any way but playing this game while high is an EXPERIENCE
You should check out Hylics. It's a earthbound like claymation trippy game. I couldn't figure out how to beat it but you might like it so
hey you should rewatch the first minute of this video
Abuse hotdogs
You don't know how long it took me to no-hit green mage as the wizard in the RPG :(
definitely go in blind, I watched someone stream this thinking I was in for a fun ride but both the players and the chat on twitch was super toxic calling the game 'up it's own ass' and would attack anyone who was trying to give their opinion on the lore or add to theories.
I honestly don't get this game's plot; me and someone else have a theory 'Call of the Void'; causing humanity to despise and see immortality negatively, only a few being immune. This whole game R E E K S of the Call
Love the background music coming from FFXIV Anyder lvl
Well, hope you have fun now that a sequel's been annoucned.
see you in the next weeks, i'll play this one
i knew i would see this guy make a video on everhood because of his comment on one of the ost videos
Irvine for example, is just there to show you that other realms besides Everhood exist.
what game is the footage from the beginning from??? 🤔
Hylics (great game btw) then Omori and then ??? and Deltarune
Cute cat
I would like you to come back to keep making videos.
8:45
The whole game caught me by suprise
Nice video, but how tf did you notice the frog guitar switching during the fight? I barely noticed anything the whole game because I was looking at my character dodging lol
this game deserves more praise.
yo usually when a video has one of those “seriously, if you havent played/watched/read this yet, stop this video now and go do it” warnings, i usually just watch the rest of the video anyways. not this time. going in, wish me luck!
So instead of using the notes, you literary are the notes!
That wooden puppet looks like a Digimon 🤔
26:32 woah! How did you get this cutscene?
If i remember its doing the incinerator without die
Watching this while doing the endless corridor
Bruh!! I'm watching this video knowing i saw everything in the game...
But that was a freaking lie!!! Here i am spoiling more content xD.
This game Even more attention is in need
Question, where did you find the note discussing a class system forming? I've played the game and watched a fair share of videos but I've never seen that note
And then they made a sequel
How do you make a sequel after every character died?
@@Bluegirl12345 You're asking the same question all of us are asking
@@Bluegirl12345 It's what a lot of people are wondering, most common theories I have seen thus far is it's either a prequel to Everhood, some kind of parallel universe or perhaps a true sequel since as the saying goes 'It never ends in Everhood'.
Hey what's the game at the first couple seconds?
"A bunch of enigmatic Gnomes desolving reality itself" so a normal DMT trip then? 😂
Just watched a little further and see that there's a part where Red takes shrooms and has a psychedelic trip. So now I know they took inspiration from psychedelics.
