      Go for it, you won’t regret. This is the best time because of the price/performance. With the new microcode you can still overclock this cpu using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and get a great performance without going at high crazy temps or exceeding voltage that might hurt your cpu.

  • @j340_official
    @j340_official หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    Anybody with experience with intel processors (from at least sky lake) knows that “auto” voltage settings from many of the vendors are aggressive, necessitating undervolting. Raptor lake’s “auto voltage” in the early days of the platform were ridiculously high. 1.5V+ on asus for no reason at all.
    So I overrode all that crap on my 13900k and set a negative voltage offset of -.06V. Then I implemented per core turbo ratios. 1 core -> 5.9 GHz. 2 cores -> 5.8. 3 cores 5.6. 4 or more cores 5.5 GHz.
    And it has been rock solid for nearly 2 years.

    • @Pandemonium088
      @Pandemonium088 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This 1.5v only happens when you actively enable MCE. I've never seen this happen specifically to my Asus board since day1.

      could've waited a week and get it even much more heavily discounted since arrow lake comes out today.
      or just get the latest gen hardware for the same price and have some upgradability in it.
      lga1700 is a dead platform, i wouldn't have invested into it in any case tbh
      if stability was my main concern i would've just went with tried and tested AM5 CPU's (at least ryzen 7000 and seems that 9000 is so far)

    I have a 13700K on a Taichi Z690 DDR5 board, and it's been out of service for the last four months or so, waiting to see Intel's "solution." Sensing that 0x125 and 0x129 were not going to be Intel's final answer, I waited. ASRock has finally released a BIOS with 0x12B. I hope to get the BIOS updated before the end of October and bring it back into service. I'm still not sure this is going to be the final fix, but it's time to give it a try. At least we have a five-year warranty now.

I found beautiful balance for 13700kf effectively undervolting and overclocking running 5.5 all pcores, 4.4 ecores @ 1.3v with 90c max under 100% load (only cinebench does that) if not it's more like 50c max when I play path of exiles in 1440p for example. I saw the writing on the wall when these chips launched, the single core boost voltage was so crazy. My 13700K at the time was hitting 1.56V for single core boost clocks of 5400mhz. I ended up capping the VID to 1.350V and shutting off e-cores for gaming and I was then able to crank up the P-cores to 5800mhz. Its been running like that for like 14 months now. The thing is if you played something that triggered the bug, where the CPU anticipated demand while waiting on a memory stall lead to a high V which was NOT reduced by sudden load, then your CPU would still have broken.
      It happened to Minecraft servers and on some other games, when using server boards, set up conservatively with efficiency in mind.

    About 10 months ago, i picked up the 14700kf and a Asus tuff gaming z790mother board, The first time i went through the Bios setting when it was new, the max watts was set at 255w. and the CPU would stumble when the date was around august. I left the stock Bois from the factory installed and started to watch the cpu a bit closer with temps, volts, watts and did not notice anything that was off the scales, but the CPU was stumbling when gaming and using TH-cam to play music over my gaming time. Updated the Bios early September to the latest (1663) non beta B version, and the stumbling went away. and could not notice any changes to the limits in the BIOS except it is set to cap at 253w. All the other limiters were still in play. I think there is more to the story then they are telling us.

    PC Perspective : voltages are still to high for a continuous deliveries. Maximum safe continuous voltage for the 12-th, 13-th and 14-th GEN is 1,30 - 1,31 V. Everything above is literally slowly melting the tranzistors and the architecture with it. While the 0x12B microcode is implementing the 253 Watt limit (which is still too high) it is using slightly higher voltage to compensate for the cut down amperage. It has been widely reported that the partially damaged CPU-s are now self-degrading faster with this 0x12B update.
