NYC Bus & MTA Bus Company | 2002-04 New Flyer 'Galaxy' D60HF Review

This is a remake of my past series of D60s review, since January 2019.
Since 2002, these D60s were purchased to defy the expansion diversity of articulated service through the MaBSTOA neighborhoods. And Queens, is another borough that had their expansion too under MTA Bus Company. It's mainly the Q10 route that needed the crowd saving, even through JFK Airport. They were trialed for 2 years until the XD60s came in with a new scheme for JFK and Baisley Park Depots. I wish these can come to Brooklyn too, even if they had approved for 2005 models mentioned. But that failed, and as a result no articulated buses were ordered until 2009 from Novabus Company. In early 2010s, they were known for increase of accidents and even the budget saving projected unit as #5656 resumed service for 5 years since 2014. 2017 was a good time where first, I get to be authorized under MJQ's roof and having #5720 as my first connected D60HF. And then riding Tuskegee Airmen's route in 2018, after MJQ sadly lost their D60s because of the recent LFSAs. And 2019, it was a tough year where these buses, the RTS', and the Orion VII OG CNGs had to forcefully that same year. And April Fools Day, was seriously to retirement day of every single last remaining D60s of this series(not a joke). That became the end of the high floor 60ft bus era of standard service. 23 years use of D60 series since 1996 was honored. And Kingsbridge is the depot to really be the king of articulated buses.

9:32 This ends the era of New York City operating buses with wheelchair lifts, flip-dot destination signs, and buses that have the Detroit Diesel engines, but the era of New York City operating buses out of New Flyer still continues because of the Xcelsiors being the successor of the Low Floor series, whereas the era of low floor buses began in 1998, and the era of Xcelsiors began in 2011. The era of the RTSs ended since 2019, but the era of operating buses out of Nova continues since it began in 1996 with the RTSs, and started operating LFSs with the 2010 LFSAs as a new era of buses operating with circular headlights and taillights.

That's a great New Flyer D-60 5500-5700 Buses !I have many memories of riding on them when I worked as Outdoor messenger in Manhattan on The M-14A/D and M-15 and M-23 M-79 & 86 M-101-103. Do you remember what happened to 126 depot. Between 100's street Depots and West Frams require the need for them for service. And 126 street had gotten Old RTS and Nova RTS as replacement for the NFA and those Drivers where mad !!!! 😠

Here's the ACTUAL depot assignments for the 2002-04 New Flyer 'Galaxy' D60HFs:
5510-5559 split between 126, MJQ and 100 St Depot present-day TA Depot
5600-5644 to 126 St Depot (Closed in 2015)
5645-5679 to WF Depot
5680-5721 to KB Depot
5722-5769 to MJQ Depot

Good Review Cedric, I Remember Riding These D60HF’s Three Times, It’s On The M15 Local & It’s At 2018 Alone. I Rode One I Forgot The Number, 5543 & 5624 Which It’s Nice Rides, I Missed Those Buses, They Will Never Be Forgotten

5:33 The 5700s were receiving these bus wraps before starting service. Also, did you see these D60HFs with the SBS wrap before the Bx12 Limited was Bx12 SBS when you were a little kid? If so, what do y or think of them having the wrap on it? The 2010 Nova Bus LFSAs were receiving the SBS wraps too before the M15 Limited became M15 SBS

I haven't seen D60HF have these wraps as a little kid, even when I went to the Bronx Zoo. Every nus looks unique in their own generation.

I wish you play an audio recording without the HVAC, because *ALL* the D60HFs sound like that when the HVAC is blasting. Takes away the engine and the godly transmission sound.

That's what I figure. Especially with the trains, I was only 8 years old when I hear excessives sound but the powertrains. Then nowadays, HVACs make the worse of the powertrains.
