  • Units 9620-9910 are 2020-2021 Nova Bus LFS HEV buses. They are the MTA's first hybrid-electric buses built by Nova Bus since 2000-2002, with the Daimler Chrysler Orion 07.501 Old Gens. The first pilot buses were planned to be delivered in May 2020, but due to coronavirus, delivery and entrance in service was delayed by several months. It was eventually decided to deliver the pilot bus in August 2020. This order of 291 buses includes a base order of 165 buses (9620-9784) with an option order of 126 buses (9785-9910). The first pilot (originally numbered 0022, now numbered 9620) entered service in early October 2020 out of Kingsbridge Depot. All buses use the BAE HDS 200 system and the Cummins B6.7 engine.
    Since I rode these hybrid bus models in 2019 and in Canada, I was desperate for New York City to have these. Eventually by March 2020, when I opened up the TTMG news, my wish become more fulfilled until COVID-19 was starting to strike the USA. After COVID-19 took its peak, like other manufacturers, Novabus had it's pausing and delays. As a result, that's why I ended up catching 9620(former pilot) on tape in Harlem. A year later, more of these came around starting in March 2021, and I ended up riding unit 9676 on the M2 Limited out of Manhattanville Depot. And, Manhattanville was the first depot(besides the pilot delivery) to have the production LFS HEVs. This is also followed by Kingsbridge, Gun Hill, Tuskegee Airmen, and Mother Clara Hale Depot receiving these newbies. As of June 6th, 2023; Mother Clara Hale gave these buses back to Manhattanville as they were loans. I haven't ride on them much, but they feel the same as the New Flyer XDE40(the hybrid Xcelsiors built by New Flyer Industries). Honestly, I prefer the XDE40s more than the LFS Hybrids. The HVAC unit on their rooftops are another feature I am intrigued about with a maximized efficiency compared to the older generations. These buses are here to stay, as they are helping New York City to go greener, even with the incoming fully electric battery powered buses.

    I read some recent info about upcoming bus purchases. There is some New Flyer hydrogen electric powered buses coming. 90 new artics and Nova LFSe models.
    Since Nova announced that they are leaving the US, who will build these 90 artics?? And how will the MTA receive future Novas. It will be very difficult. There are some Van Hool buses being purchased. I wonder what model.
    About another 348 more 40 foot buses are coming. Apparently they want to order 243 new articulated buses. Bear in mind , all of our Nova and New Flyer artics are just over 10 years old. They can get 20 years out of these buses. It is still too early to retire them and they still run very well.
    They want to order 380 electric buses. They want to order 383 CNGs. Are they quick to retire the c40LFs??. They are just over 10 years old and have plenty of life left in them. Way too early for this.
    Then they want to order 250 additional Prevost X3-45s. They already have at least 500 of these. We all thought the MTA would purchase the MCI D45CRT to replace whatever motorcoaches are left to replace. And lastly they want to purchase 210 hybrids. If this is all true , the MTA is making some huge mistakes here.

    I noticed the swap between Manhattanville and Quill in May, 2022. I saw one of these running on the M42, and XDE40s running on the M11.

    I have rode these buses on the M5, M20 and M31 lines. I remember the swap with the 2021-22 XDE40s from Quill going to Manhattanville, and these buses coming to Quill. I have seen many of these lines near Columbus Circle before. I also remember seeing these near the Museum of the City of New York City.

    I think these match the M100 most out of Kingsbridge, because the M100 is in Manhattan, when Manhattanville, Quill, and Tuskegee Airmen have these.

      Unlike the Bronx, KB and the rest of the Bronx division wants to increase the comfort of seating arrangement, which is why they have the mostly oriented LFSs

    I consider these one of the most accessible bus models in the city, especially by the wide front and rear doors. Although I find it interesting these buses do not have inward doors, because the new LFSs, XD40s, and XE40s do.

      Outdoor rear doors are the Venturas and the inward folding doors are the pneumatics

    I do like these NovaBus LFS HEV. I hope the MTA purchase the CNG version. The only thing I don't like is the Luminator Spectrum LED display. Personally I prefer the Hanover Displays seen on the 2016-19 LFSA & 2018-19 LFS.

    The 2019 LFSs are replacing these buses at Yukon Depot. Also, these buses along with the XDE40s, newer 40 ft diesel buses are replaces the remaining ones.

      1. Gather Photos and videos you want to use.
      2. Gather music
      3. Make a script on the history, story, and the conclusion
      4. Record your voice on a camera face down
      5. Make the intro, the speech parts, and the outro with the media amd music in place.

    Seeing these buses on the M72 has been interesting, because Orion VII HEVs haven’t run much service on the M66 and M72. It made more sense with the 2019 XD40s, because they replaced the 1999 RTSs.

    • @AutomotiveTaurus
      @AutomotiveTaurus  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here is the hazard reason why those Orion VII OGs didn't run these 2 routes. The transverse tunnel they drive through, the sharp roof edges those buses have can be touching the arch. That's why the LFS and Xcelsiors can run through because of their round edges.

  • @maxwish9471
    @maxwish9471 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It was interesting for Manhattanville, Mother Clara Hale, Tuskegee Airmen, Baisley Park, and Far Rockaway/JFK Depots not to have new standard buses before 2021.
