    Fantastic video again sir!
    I love how you're not just working out of the box, but thinking out of the box as well.
    Nulling out the return for perfect level match is a great new technique in the bag.
    You're video MS with mismatch Outboard for perfect Stereo is a brilliant bit of Mastering technique adapted for mixing hybrid!
    Keep it up!!

    I really like your tip about cancelling the sound. So it's 50/50, thank you!

    I use pipeline xt along with my wes audio calypso unit and am loving it as a way to patch hardware into my daw sessions. The phase cancellation techniques were awesome. Thanks! Adding them to my bag of tricks!

    I just set this up yesterday. I got frustrated because I kept getting a gnarly feedback loop every time coming out of my speakers. Everything looked normal and routed correctly until I set the inputs to "none" on the channel with the pipeline xt on it. Doing that finally solved my problem. Having the mix knob now is amazing since I have the WA-2MPX and I can dial in parallel tape saturation now.

    These are essential features. Coming from decades of SoundTools->ProTools and Logic studio use, I was so glad to find that modern DAW’s like Reaper have all these sorts of Studio One integration, routing and compensation features built-in to the core interface. With all the other DAW’s you had to use a plug-in at best, at worst, multiple plugins, plus buried features.

    Awesome! Im just starting to get into outboard gear and learning how to setup pipeline and this video helped a ton. Plus Those Audioscape products are amazing. Im about to get a Buss comp

    I’ve been playing with pipeline on S1 for a few months and love the flexibility - but null’ing to get a baseline and making sure the various gains are like for like is a genius tip, I’d have never though of doing that. Love it.

      Brought a smile to my face! Yes, it's a lot of fun to null it out and get crazy sounds.

    Just starting to get into this type of hybrid mixing.. awesome video and thank you! Do you have a video that shows your workflow for printing? I have a very limited amount of gear right now and basically have to work a track or bus a time and still haven't figured out a great workflow for printing and moving on in a great way.. cheers!

    Nice video! I recently switched to studio one when presonus sphere came out and I’m absolutely loving it! Only thing I would say tho is by having multiple instances of pipeline on the same channel then you are increasing the amount of d/a a/d trips.

    Thanks for this. Have you considered (or have you already done) a full course on outbound gear connection and workflow? I remember you had a video on how to set up patchbays a while back too but I feel it would be really useful if the topic could be expanded on. You often explain things in a way that helps connect the dots, at least for me.

    I'm thinking of doing this. I've been using S1 for a decade. I've been using summing mixers, but I'm realizing there are a lot of limitations because I want to use the summing mixer like a console. I also dig the Softube Tape plugin or console emulations with MIX FX in S1.

    Does anyone know if there is something like this with the in and out levels for protools? i have a pair of DBX163x's and not having makeup gain sucks

    I have a question and I need help from you guys! I was planning on buy a dbx266xs, I have a focusrite Scarlett 3rd gen and I know that I can connect them together to record tracks already compressed, but my question is, could I use the dbx with pipeline for mixing post recording tracks? I’m new to analog gear so I really need help, and sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks to anyone 🙏

    Hi, nice video. i have a question if u dont mind. i have and apollo 8 and an al-2a routed in and out to channel 5 of "console" in UAD enviroment. So i can patch the input of a mic going to channel one to channel 5 and record the result. Thats ok on the record face, BUT i dont know how to use it in the MIX face. When i have all the audio recorded can i use the la-2a ? and how? do i have to insert the pipelie in a mono channel and what are the inputs and outputs? my whole audio is going through my monitores outof 3-4 of the apollo. THANKS

    Doesn't work for me, I get a massive noise when I use pipeline, all things are connected in the right way.
    In cubase I don't have this problems, only in tudio one. Any suggestion?

    Nice workflow. Now I have to try pipeline with S1's channel splitter...

    • @creativesoundlab
      @creativesoundlab  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is that the splitter inside the effects/plugin rack? That thing is sick and could do the null EQ trick. Really advanced routing possible.

      @@creativesoundlab in the channel window, where it shows sends, there is a little emblem (top left) that looks like a computer network symbol. So cool. I used it to make a multiband Fairchild once.

    Do you have to recheck the latency on each pipeline plugins when reopening studio one session?

  • @MrSuperpat
    @MrSuperpat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cubase has an outboard routing plugin. I'm using a Presonus Studio/live firewire mixer as my Daw interface. I want to use the mix bus and route it to my outboard ART stereo compressor and record it back into my daw without creating a feedback loop in my monitors. Confusing to say the least.

    I am curious if PipeLine only comes with the Studio One Pro version? Or does it come with Artist version also? Thanks...

      Yes, a little research seems to confirm what you say. I have the artist version currently, which came with the StudioLive mixer. I did find a video with a way of syncing the tracks using Artist. I'll need to watch that again or search out other ways to compensate for latency until I can upgrade to the Studio One Pro version.

    Great video, very In depth .. interested to see more videos o this and patch bays. I need a patch bay to use my HW more efficiently between recording & mixing instead of manually unplugging xlr & try cables everytime..
    I think the whole parallel 50 / 50 blend thing may confuse some but that’s a great feature, wish PT had a convenient way like pipeline xt to do this w/ 3rd party interfaces.. only reason I haven’t got more HW is b/c my Apollo & PT don’t always work sample accurate for HW inserts even tho everything is setup correctly!

    Hey nice vid. Where did yout get your studio desk from?

  • @danielmiller5521
    @danielmiller5521 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've noticed this plugin only runs in parallel, meaning if I have a compressor on a drum bus, and if I turn that volume down on the compressor, I can still hear signal. Am I missing something here? Is it possible to run signal direct, both ways?

    • @creativesoundlab
      @creativesoundlab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Pipeline XT is serial, unless you use the splitter to make two paths. ...If you don’t have gear hooked up and you are all the way Wet, then it should be silent. You might check that something isn’t normalled at a patch bay, or signal isn’t sneaking in a interface mixer somewhere.

  • @Martin-kn6vc
    @Martin-kn6vc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can also rename the Pipeline plugin itself individually to also minimise confusion if you have multiple instances. I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but if you right click the plugin in the console window, you can rename them there. I like the idea of nulling the effected signal to get a more phase coherent wet/dry mix, I never thought of that. I used to use Pro Tools, but moved over to Studio One when they introduced version 12. I love it!

    • @creativesoundlab
      @creativesoundlab  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Martin. Yeah I just figured that out with the naming thing but forgot to use it when I filmed this video. It would make my life so much easier if I didn’t move my rack stuff around and I could get consistent ins and outs. Then save presets. I had some but then changed the rack and the presets were a lost cause.

    Great vid! Love pipeline XT ... have you tried using a hardware reverb using pipeline and putting it on an AUX chan? Can you send to multiple instruments, vocals that way? cheers

    • @jacobwhite936
      @jacobwhite936 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can. Use can use a bus channel or an FX channel (for a traditional fx return function).

    • @creativesoundlab
      @creativesoundlab  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah you can do that. I had a Reverb chamber set up and had multiple tracks going to an effects bus. Then that had a pipeline xt on it when sent the signal out to a speaker and then a mic. For a Reverb unit it would just be a simple connection over my Reverb chamber.
