2024 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X Review: Pricey, A LOT Slower... it's hard to recommend.

- The Wildtrak X is a tough sell - it's had a performance hit, add's nearly $10,000 to the price of an equivelant standard Wildtrak and is close to Raptor territory...
Today we take a look at the all-new Wildtrak X, Ford's latest Ute / Truck / Bakkie to enter the Ranger lineup. Ford has placed this between the venerable Wildtrak and much loved Ranger Raptor, with a bespoke engine and drivetrain - but with less power. However, this is the most capable off-road Ranger that isn't the Wildtrak - so is it worth the extra $$$? Let's talk about that in today's review!

Awesome video mate.
Everyone please go the lower spec variant. Spend your money on tyres, suspension and a lift from a local small business.
Before you know it all the small businesses will dry up from the car makers upgrading this for you. Once this happens price gouging will happen more often, the idea is making money on upgrades which you can do elsewhere
They already make millions share some love and support the local businesses who will help you when things go wrong.
No car brand will honour a warranty better than your local business.
until the local business goes out of business, and then ford wont honour your warranty because you modified the thing
@@videos1332 and once they dry up ford will raise prices more due to no competition. Don't fall for this
I've got a 2019 Ford Wildtrak, fucking love it. I want to get upgraded wheels and AT tyres, and a lift kit as well as a King Brown exhaust system. I'm kind of stuck on what Wheels and lift kit to go with though especially wheels, so many to choose from and all review websites seem to list different 'best' wheels for 4x4.
You sitting in ute trays is the best of your content. Need a best of 2023 video.
Why wouldn’t they put the v6 in it??? Only milk and orange juice comes in two litres! 😂
To be fair, milk and orange juice also come in three litres 😂
Haven’t heard that gag for at least 24 hours 😆
Lmao
Tell the ford engineers
Why don't you become their engineer??? Only poor people love to complain so much!😂
That the roof rack system really is brilliant. Pity about no V6 as an option. Awesome colour too imho. Nice work Matt 👍 pickle tickled.
V8 Ford Ranger when? 👀
We don't get that apple carplay issue in our wildtrak, is it once the over the air update happens, also great car has better things standard than the normal wildtrak, not sure about the 4 cylinder
How are you my dear friend, this video is great for sharing as always, I'm so happy watching your recent upload videos, please keep us updated, keep safe and stay connected.
I get the v6 preferable but is this version a sufficient performance boost over a PX1 3.2?
The additional LED headlights are also designed for turning and light up the sides.
First of the Rangers with Adblue. I wonder when the rest of the Ranger model lineup get Adblue. Maybe it's time to order one of the other spec of Ranger before Adblue becomes a standard feature.
Adblue has been going fine in the Heavy truck and bus industry for over a decade now, it's not that bad at all 👍🏻
Adblue on its own doesn't reduce performance. Indeed I'd much prefer SCR (adblue) - especially where its implementation has allowed the removal of EGR over DPF any day. The problem is that the ever stricter emissions standards require all three solutions - EGR, DPF and SCR to be compliant.
@@GameBoy616 Australia's trucking industry was nearly crippled by the lack of Adblue availability because most of it comes from China.
There was a dire shortage at one stage only recently, due to COVID related supply chain logistics issues.
@@tempestv8 That's a supply issue that could be rectified if we produce adblue in this country 🤝🏻
I love it🔥🔥🔥🔥 a lot, but i would've loved that it came with all that 184KW 600NM from that Powerstroke V6 engine😭😭. It's disappointing, but it's beautiful and menacing🔥💯
Can i put that roof buttons on other models?
Would you pick the wildtrak x or the wildtrak 2.0?
When you testing the gr hilux?
Great design, terrific taxi color... what a pitty just for selling in Australia
Upon careful examination, I'm having trouble discerning the $10,000 disparity between this utility and the Wildtrak standard fit-out. It might be more prudent to opt for the lower specification model and then allocate those saved funds towards customizing it precisely to your preferences.
By doing so, you can ensure that every modification aligns perfectly with your requirements, creating a tailored vehicle that meets your specific needs without incurring unnecessary expenses for features that may not hold the same value for you.
This approach allows for a more personalized and cost-effective investment in the long run, providing you with a vehicle that is not only tailored to your exact specifications but also mindful of your budget. This way, you get the best of both worlds: a vehicle that meets your needs and preferences, without overspending on features that may not necessarily enhance your driving experience.
A Front locker would be a great add on for the 10.000 extra
Pretty pointless trying to decide, as the Wildtrak-X is basically sold out!
Great review as always, thou I am wondering if this new X model is part of the recent recall affecting 4,000 plus other Rangers??
Look it’s so new I would imagine whatever recall that is would be fixed before delivery haha
Ford always have low miles because it's sitting in the shop.
What is the new price in USD or Rand.
Another great review, people power will demand & get a V6 inclusion (next update). Add Blue 😢
Well here in South Africa, I had an XLT for 4 months & 21000km. Couldn't solve the Bluetooth link for Android kicking out. Now am on a Wildtrak & still struggling . Having a cable plugged in all day isn't an option for me.
I have a 2021 Thunder and a similar glitch once. Took it to the local dealership and problem solved in a few minutes.
Maybe you don't recommend it, but most Dealers have sold out of their allocation a while back, so Ford didn't have any problem selling them
8.6l 100km with my toyota with same kw and nm ?
Great video, but have to say I miss the banter between you and Jacob, when the one up videos are produced.
Matt. could you please tell me the country of design origin of this Ford Ranger Wildtrack X. I've never owned a 'ute' before. Back in the sixties, I had to settle for a new E Type Jaguar.
What a car to settle for :D
Australia is where the majority of Ranger development was done! Here in Victoria
Two of my relatives are automotive engineers at Ford Australia Geelong. @@CarSauce
Even though 99% are sold right where they are made. Thailand.
Is the track increase just in the wheel offset?
Yes, +40 offset.
If they tdv6 this wildtrack x they are not going to sell a lot of the raptors
The v6 will go in when the sales drop off
This 2.0 l is for Europe specifically
Apple issue is a problem with airplay being buggy not the Ranger, it's a common issue with it dropping out in all variants of vehicles, stick with the cable it's easier
Its not that way…. I have an f150 2023 and it works flawless, tried also a vw taos and worked very well without problems, and also tried cars that are annoying to use wireless carplay
Is the 0-100 time the same if its in 2H rather than 4A?
there's wheel spin in 2H
So why the the Wildtrak X version come with a weaker engine than the regular wildtrak?
Europe friendly
it seems it doesnt have an all terrain tires 🤔
Where is Jacob?
Please make an Offroad test
I’m losing track of how many variants they can squeeze into the same Ute..
With how the Ranger has blown up in popularity in Australia, it's probably good for them financially since they can make different variants to fit everyone's budgets and needs.
@@TheoEclipse
8 variations of the same Ute is overkill especially when the difference is very minor..it’s all about profit! Adding stickers or painting chrome bits black and over charging for it proves that, but I guess people are buying them 🤷🏼♂️
I’d rather the option of the V6 in the XL or XLS and when your paying near 60k for an XLS I’d expect some more of the smaller features standard..
All I want is the new instrument cluster
Please please please fix your mic clipping in every video
Where's Jacob?
You are wrong.
It is NOT permanent 4 wheel drive. It dasn't have central diff.
In 4A mode, it is ON DEMAND 4 wheel drive.
It only uses the front diff when it needed, NOT all the time.
its more than "on demand", it has a extra haldex clutch which closed when you hit the pedal. Not the old thing like in vw golf 4 haldex gen3 where you need to have no grip for activating the haldex. its an new system, like haldex gen5
a 4x4 system which will automatically turn on is not an AWD system...
So pricy. I used to have one ranger 2019. Sold it. frequent minor issues. No more ford cars in the future..
You had your fuel economy guage on km/L not L/100km. Still comes out to about the same about 10L/100km
I am an android user and my phone glitches out of android auto all the time had to try 20 chords to get one that works with my car
Me looking at the thumbnail: Tough... SFLL?
My wildtrak v6 does 7.8 seconds. 0 to 100kph.
So it's as fast as the detuned ranger raptor that they sell in the EU and UK?
I've only seen them get 8.2s to 100kph, are you sure 7.8?
@@hassanhaydar6880 i have a bit of a tune on it.
@@robertbosgra509 Whats the tune?
omg, that isn't really wild at all
Why there is no in America?
the Rangers sold in US & Canada are already more powerful
Only 4 trims in the US since the Ranger is not a huge seller. It's too small for a diesel in the US too.
Man Ford Zambia only gets a Ford limited only only only I am done
0:00 why does it look like as if the car just spawned on the spot? If you look closely you'll see what I mean... 🤔😂
That's hope they bring out the V6 in the XLS.
The high majority of little men that buy these won't take Em any further than the St Kilda Pier to go fishing or hit the terrain in a maccas drive thru.
Wouldn’t buy a 4 cylinder. The rest of the spec looks great
Ford ranger Wildtrack vs hardcore terrains mitsubishi triton ,the winner is mitsubishi Triton.oviously ford car is similiarity with mazda motor company japan design and body ,the bad about ford car is when coming to maintenance more higher cost espiscelly in gearbox and differential excel
No V6 no sale!
why V6 & not V8?
@@HSstudio.Ytchnnl Ford's V8 diesel is too heavy for a Ranger (or even an F150).
Where is your colleague / friend? You alone today
3.5 ton doesn’t mean a lot…
These tonka toys are so short in the cabin only little men can fit in them, but then again only little men need to compensate and drive one 😂
Sounds like someone who compensates 🤡
@@awesomeerr8765 yes agreed a real compensation vehicle. 😳
You do realize that the Ranger is a smaller (mid-size) pickup right?
@@rich7447 yes I do, hence they should be able to accommodate a bloke over six foot. Ya lucky to get one unless you are five foot two. Targeted toward little men with height issues. All of them
@@Nae395 I have to admit that I haven't seen the inside of a new Ranger. They are pretty rare here. Since it's a midsize I would expect the backseat space to be tight and not be able to accommodate 3 adults.
That is one of the many disadvantages of a mid-size.
I have a Ford Super Duty that is more than capable of fitting 5 people over 6'. That's one of the advantages of a full size.
Once you drive that v6 anything else is not worth buying.
one thing people fail to mention is the v6 is the lion v6 which is an absolute piece of shit unreliable engine. Yes specs are good, yes it goes great but they are unreliable. Ask me how I know, my TDV6 LR blew up...
How much kms?
@@gustavoanuch890 170k km
I drove a wild track for 3 years. Over rated.
if you want a ranger just get a raptor .
Unless you want to use it for work
@@beaviccoon470 lol most of them dont even see a worksite or 4wd track anyway
@@unclesmate LOL true. I always see them at the Maccas drive-through after work and when I get closer to see who the drivers are, they're all wearing business suits and their utes are all clean and not a spec of dirt on them🤣🤦♂
For 20k more than the Wildtrak? No thanks
V6 fan boy so review is rubbish
Cringeworthy.
