Today I review a unique book which looks to understand the relationship between Islam and Science. The special part is that I am not reviewing the book alone but the author of the book one of the finest intellectuals in Pakistan and an authority in Physics Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy is discussing his book with me. The name of the book is "Islam & Science, Religious orthodoxy and the battle for Rationality. It is an astounding literature on how Muslim civilization was once a world leader in terms of science, knowledge and wisdom and how it transformed into one of the most backward civilization in the world. I'm a Christian and had nothing to do with the topic, but ended up watching the whole discussion. BTW enjoyed the discussion. Dr. Pervaiz really is an educated and wise man.

Most of the educated people are good. But some are absolutely not. When it comes to Kashmir everyone is alike, and they all talk against India. Since their approach to Kashmir issue is religious that's why we (most of the people belonging to minorities) try not to get involved in the Kashmir thing.
Most of the times these are just the politicians who want to gain some fame, but some times the people want them to speak against India.
And yes discrimination does exist in Pakistan. But there are many people who are great, who truely care about minorities.
At the end of the day, there are all sorts of people in my country, good and bad, all exist at the same time and at the same place.

I just see him blaming religious cleric's to cover the faults of our education system. Actually, I would say Dr sahab is jealous of the ulamas for their influence and acceptance which the science couldn't have.
If Perez bhai would have been in India he would have made a top professor in IIT & would have been the most respected person like ISRO scientist. He is great 🙏

On the other hand perwaiz believed to just refer to quran for guidance and no need for sunnah or hadith.
@@mr.youtube1320 Allama Iqbal didn't believe in growing beard, didn't believe in only performing namaz as a five pillars of Islam, Iqbal didn't believe in following rituals performed at Prophet pbuh time, believed in character building and Islamic state and that was professed by Perwez Sb. It always baffle my mind, when religious people become doctors.
I'm pretty sure Hoodbhoy is a closeted atheist. He only maintains a facade of Islam because it's publicly acceptable in pakistan and helps him reach a wider audience.

With regards to the point that at the time of Hazrat Noah, that all the earth was flooded, is a misconception. Clearly, our religious scholars have preached our religion in a way contradictory to logic and reasoning. I, myself, have found Islam to be one of the most rationale explanation to earthly occurences and solution to human needs and propblems.

I am different person than the given name, and not speaking on behalf of name given on this portsl, this is first time i had a chance to listen to this discussion and about professor Hoodbohy, Very much impressed by the comparer's boldness and answers given by the author of the book, I was very much impressed by the depth of his knowledge and sincerity of thoughts in bringing the lament muslim nation up, I am an educationist, having PhD, in Science and Education and biosciences. Each word of professor is worth million dollars, I am from the same school of thought. Due to religious degenerative, process, and unconcerened intilectuals, and fear created by the illitrates named as scholars are responsible for the fall. I coult see how difficult it was for the professor to talk about some of the most difficult topics of religion. Creativity was destroyed by creating fear in the mind of masses, aiming at keeping the power with them in the name of religion.Philosophers and thinkers were stoped, for moving forward in the fileld of science and technolgy. What you can expect from the minister of science and technolgy, who, most probably doesnot have a degree or education in science.I generally say that muslim nations creativity has been destroyed by the metalic, sqeezing helmit of religion, which has turned them to psychotic people, and canot come out of this circle.
