    I'm going to Brisbane in December! Thank you for this trip report so that way I know what to expect from Air Canada.

    Flight etiquette #1. Never take your shoes off and have your feet facing another passenger. Most of us do not want to smell your feet for 14 hours!

      Darren R I actually agree if he was Siri g the opposite side then that would be fine because there would be space between the other side of seats

    Food did not look the best. What was on the right hand side of your breakfast ? was that a pancake or something else ? Also you initially had 3 seats to yourself but by the end someone else was sitting there. Did they move someone ?

    Thanks for uploading I’ll be taking the flight from Melbourne in a few weeks what’s the overall seat Comfort, Service etc like. being bit tall got a Preferred seating in the bulkhead row (row 18)

      Seats are great, but I'm only 5'9 and a bit chubby, so grain of salt there.
      Service is lackluster in economy. You don't get a menu at the start of the flight to show you what's available/upcoming, not even for wines/beers (which slows down services and makes food go cold if you're one of the later rows served). They also don't provide a mini biscuit bar at the back like Qantas does for people who just need a nibble but not a meal. That location also served as a walking station to let me stretch my legs. Air Canada doesn't keep a row open for such a thing.
      The flight attendants were all really nice, and they didn't bat an eye when I walked back to the galley and requested two mini bottles of Johnnie Walker Black after I'd kept an adjacent couple's toddler quiet and entertained most of the flight and sat through him crying for 45 minutes roughly two hours into when I should've been sleeping.
      They mess up the little things on international without being off-putting (and they are generally way cheaper for me to get back home to the States than Qantas + American Airlines), but nowhere near as bad as their regional services from Toronto into the northern U.S.. I had one flight attendant from Toronto to Cincinnati I could have strangled given half a chance.
      International they're okay, but Air Canada could learn a LOT from their Australian counterparts for long haul flights. Thankfully I caught a Qantas sale to get me to JFK for $1350 in November rather than Philadelphia for $2050 (in economy!). I'll pay for the car service back to NJ. No problem. I'd prefer avoiding Air Canada to Newark now that Qantas has the BNE/SYD-LAX-JFK route set up with a 787.end to end and no clearing customs until New York.

      We are taking this flight in December - Bne - Vancouver then Vancouver to Newark on Air Canada - I'm worried now!! I thought the flight from Vancouver to Newark would be similar to the Bne - Vancouver route as the plan is the same - 787???

    • @patrickproctor3462
      @patrickproctor3462 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cath Flood The leg room is a little less according to Google Flights, but it should be similar. Like I said Air Canada is just very unconcerned with Economy passengers and doesn't spend pennies to get the little things right the way their competitors do, and despite the $500 price difference, it's almost not worth it for me. I have a decision to make for November for sure :(

    What's this about F/As locking down the window blinds? It's bad enough when the person in the window seat lowers the blinds, as they do, without F/As doing it against your will!!

      On long haul flights, especially on night flights going east, you are flying into the sun which means a shortening of darkness... Most passengers would like to sleep and obviously when the sun rises, people find it difficult to sleep. That is why the shades are put down. Its usually done after the first service. Its out of courtesy for other passengers.

    I flew BNE - YVR on the same flight in August 2017, I thought AC was very ordinary. Food was below standard

    • @johanneslundie
      @johanneslundie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all surprising. I'm Canadian, and the food in general is below standard, especially compared to other airlines' long haul flights. Years ago, the food was even worse!! Stale bread, coffe in a paper cup, blech. That's one area where Air Canada needs to pull up its socks. OTOH, they "fly by the book," very precise, very professional pilots.

    This is not People's Republic...each passenger has the ability to darken his own window ...have seen this feature used arbitrarily in broad daylight flights because flight attendants decide "'now you sleep!" Very poor...

      claus stimpfig As much as I love Air Canada, I have to agree with you. They give you another small cold sandwitch midflight but I went in the back asking for another one because I was starving.

    • @johanneslundie
      @johanneslundie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I repled to someone else, Air Canada's weak point IS their poor meal service. They're "stingy" with what they serve, and give the basic minimum, not very good, not very interesting. Too bad, as it's Canada's flag carrier. The mediocre food gives a poor impression, for sure.
