Karue, after watching your videos since the pandemic started and having a lot of time to reinvent myself, I finally did it. At the time I had given up on my one handed backhand and felt defeated. I took up the two handed from one of your videos and now my backhand is probably my biggest strength. It’s crazy how having a strong backhand has now put me a very high level compared to before. The dudes who use to clown on my backhand side now attack my forehand. Also, I should say that the junk ball videos, the neutral ball videos, the hitting the ball in front consistently like a wall, and the returning videos really helped me improve, man. I am playing the tennis of my life right now for the past 5 months and I just keep getting better. Your drills are awesome and I do them all the time (putting in the work actually improves your game, not just hitting around). I know this is long, but I hope you read this. Your videos have had such a positive impact in my life and I thank you for that. Thank you brother!
Hi! That is literally the coolest comment ever. I really appreciate it and this motivates me to keep creating. Sometimes it is hard to know if I'm making a difference or not. Thank you for the kind words and best of luck on your journey!!
Played such good tennis the last 6 months, and yesterday I had my first tournament match again in 1,5 year. I was so nervous I chocked the whole match, feeling so anxious and embarrassed because so many people were watching as I was playing on centre court and the highest level match for that night... Your tips really help me get back in the groove man I almost wanted to stop playing again. It really sucks if you can't perform how you want and can
This info is more important than strokes. I have so many players that say- I'm so much better than them but I keep losing. It really needs to be trained as much as physical. Great video!
Great video Karue! Especially like the tip about playing more to make things less ‘special’ and expose yourself more to the situation of match intensity
Wow, man, this is so timely. I have my first club match this Tuesday and I have been SO anxious about it, so afraid to lose, It's doing my head in!! I'm going to take in all you said, and I already feel better about it just because you've brought it up! Thanks, Karue, best tennis channel out there!
I'm trained in sports psychology. I read the inner game of tennis! Lol Really some good ideas in that book. I try to tell myself to just play good points. One at a time. Always like to tell myself I need more points even if I'm ahead. Competing is so much like solving a puzzle. One big idea you will have to buy into in every match is you have to be somewhat willing to lose in order to be loose enough to win. Basically get in the zone.
Karue, this video hit the nail on the head for me! I just played a doubles comp and was super tight and nervous and just could not perform. I was an emergency player so didn't have the competition experience like the other players who have played for a couple of seasons now and i just didn't enjoy myself. There was so much pressure to perform for the team and i was given different advice and "tips" by different partners and i felt like i was just not able to play my game, and apply what i practice day in day out. I have always been more of a singles player and i would really like to enjoy doubles as i feel it brings a new dimension and skill set to tennis but when you are in situations like mine it really puts you off. In singles i can go in and play with so much less pressure (still nervous but different pressure altogether), but in doubles its all about gelling with your partner, and communicate, its so different. Sorry for the long post, will definitely check out the app!! Keep up the great work!
I just lost to someone completely below my skill level, and I think God had to humble me and help me understand this, so here I am learning how to conquer my mind so next time I don't make the same mistake. Thanks Karue
I can not thank enough, finally found a well of information from somebody who has the right to call himself a teacher, most of our coaches never played tournaments yet their attitude many times is as if they are roger federer :) your straight to the point and not making a rocket science out of it attitude is soooo refreshing!! thank you kid:)) you hv lovely attitude! sooo true!! about match beeing too special, you nailed it!

I just restart playing tennis after idk 5 years or something due to a LOT of injuries, and my focus is all on the phisical part and the mental one too, and even if I don't train to much my strokes I'm way stronger than when I left. For the mental part I am doing meditation and the rigidity that made me lose all matches is finally gone, I remember that sensation of stomach illness, it was so annoying, also being more fit helps me to keep my concentration longer. Btw your videos are gold!
It's funny that that was my mind after yesterday's match and today I see this video .. :)) .. good luck in what you do, you have a very good content valid for all players regardless of level
I just played in a tournament and in the 1st set I'm down 5-0. I'm only missing my shots by 3" wide or out. I'm a bit nervous still as I just drove 3.5 hours to play in this tournament and don't want to be driving back home a 1st round loser. Instead of tanking the next game to get into the 2nd set, I decide to make sure I'm pushing off the ground with my load leg on my forehand and up the racket head speed while making sure I'm hitting every ball with directionals. I end up winning the 1st set 7-6 in an easy tie-breaker. I win the next set 6-4. I ended up losing in the semis in a tough 3rd set tiebreaker 12-10 with 30+ mile an hour gust. I let my emotions get the best of me instead of keeping calm with the elements dealt with. One more tournament and league play before I'm off to National Qualifier in Little Rock, Arkansas
Spot on Karue. Great video!!! Keep them coming. Noticed my game took on a whole new level when I began meditation exercises. Now my pre-match routine is 10 minutes of Wim-Hof breathing method and then 5 minutes of meditation. Good luck to the team in Miami! Not sure if I am going to drive over this year or not as work has been busy but if I do I will make sure I scream GO MYTENNISHQ between games :)
Thank you! This has been very helpful. I have been struggling with competitive play with nervousness, tightness and have made it a point to get out of my practice comfort zone and compete more.

I know what you are talking about on the Yips.... I remember my Senior Year of Highschool I was playing Doubles.. made it to State... my partner and I had won several tournaments before getting there and I had what was considered a weapon of a serve(I'm no Pete Sampras but I could definitely bully some people) the whole year my Serve had hit it's stride.. I'd finally found a great 2nd serve that was consistent yet also could be used as an offensive attack to start the point instead of just getting it into play(previously I'd had issues taking too much off or not taking enough off and lacking confidence in it) anyways.. night before state we had our hit arounds and practice and I was just lasering it and felt great... ready to seek and destroy... woke up next morning and it was like I'd never hit a serve in my life.. felt bad man.... my doubles partner was looking over at me like "What the hell is happening"
One thing that works for me to at least relieve the tension in my body is to pretend I'm in practice grooving strokes. This helps me remember what my body feels like at practice and relax more.
i just came back from tennis practise, first time being there, the nerves got the better of me and i could not make any shot, i wish i saw this vid earlier
Hey Karue, First of all I love your channel!! Since finding it I've loved being able to learn and grow from what you share. That being said I have some feedback about your partnership with Apeak. I was interested in what you shared and decided to click the link to learn more, however there's no price anywhere on their site. I love your videos, how you teach and connect to your viewers. But I have zero patience for companies that hide financial details behind their sign-up process. It's like they're saying "commit to us and give us all your information first and then we'll tell you what you want to know." Nope. I hope they fix that or I'll never be a consumer of their app.
Talking about the brain often not being on hour side while sitting in front of a picture of a gigantic black hole is just funny. Missing a crystal ball. Lol. I say all this with upmost respect, I love your channel and advices.

Hi My Tennis HQ. This question isn't aimed towards this video however I am looking for a new racket. I watched your video when you review all the MPs and I noticed you said that the new extreme has the muted feel which I absolutely hate I demoed the new blade and it felt like rubber with 0 feel. What would you suggest with more feel? I have very similar stroke mechanic to you slightly flatter backhand and bit more topspin on forehand. I am interested in feel would you say perhaps the Speed MP a demo?
Remember, if you are in the finals it means you are playing well. You won a lot of matches in a row and you should channel that confidence going in. Winning or losing is out of your control but you can hopefully you can put on a good performance
Does the app help you overcome: "I'm so much better than this junk baller and I will be so embarrassed if I lose. All my teammates will laugh at me for losing" which results in missing easy shots and playing well below you normal standard
The thought of "our mind is not always on our side" seems to be a freeing concept, I could visualize playing better after considering this, like I'm not beholden to what my mind thinks, if you understand me. It's like a spectator who rags on you, this part of the mind has no functional value. Lol
