Excellent! When I played the Lipton qualifying (now Miami Masters 1000), I had a 3 hour match and drank 2 GALLONS of water before, during, and shortly after. I ate right and finished off one banana during the match. It worked great. I love your new insights. Very helpful. Thnx
@@TheTennisMentor no. It was in extreme Miami heat and I lost in the third set. I don’t remember the score but it was an Argentine and I forgot his name!!! So long ago! But we followed the EAT TO WIN book at bollettieri’s and we had to drink one glass of water for each 10 minutes of training on the court…and we trained a minimum of 8 hours a day back then! Less gym and more tennis. Great memories…now at 58 I’m returning to the game to play 7 futures in crete, greece 🇬🇷 come October. You should come with Felix!
Much needed video.. Thanks coach😄 It means I can eat my meal after the match. I got one question, there's a confusion for eating after match as some says you can but one dietician said not before one hour...
As I said, we’re all different, some feel hungry straight after a match, others not. Listen to your body! (Unless you have another match the same day, then you will need to get some more energy in even if you’re not hungry… this is where shakes are good!)
I once played 3 matches on a 37 degree celcius days, destroyed the next day and played the no1 seed , any tips on handling that scenario? I followed most of these tips
This is a brutal situation! Aside of hydration and electrolytes, Staying out of the sun wherever possible is key. Use a towel to cover your head and neck at changeovers, where a cap and sunscreen, find a cool place to rest between matches…
Thanks for the video. For those who are not professionals, but like to play a friendly match from time to time (and then run to the work) would that also apply? Btw, although I respect other comments calling you irresponsible was a bit off and disrespectful. Everyone has to have his/her own diligence about "things".
Absolutely… if you don’t have time to eat a meal, a quick light ‘carby’ snack with give you the energy you need without feeling sluggish! Thanks for your comments
For those that aren't quite so serious i find a tube of flavoured electrolite tablets that you can chuck in your water bottle (poor man's lucozade) and some nutty bars to eat mid match do the trick. They are the sort of things that are cheap and you can leave in your tennis bag without them going off. Magic Mind sounds great but it's a lot of money...
i have had a history of calves cramps during sports, most of the time i find myself playing long hours. I might get cramps. i have been finding a way to prevent that. any tips
@@TheTennisMentor yes i did purchased electrolytes powder to add to my water, i have been taking them when i play tennis. i have only tried them a few times, so far so good. Also i heard banana helps cramps too
What s up whit sll tnis alternstion beetwen drinks and snack players do in a mstch?, i saw Rublev taking a zip of orange drink, close the bottle, a zip of water, close the nottle..., half a banana.., then start the drinking sequence again to finish whit half a banana and water again all whiting 2 min snd during the while match, is there any reason for this?
I would only like to eat what novak eats and does Never have been a tennis player who impressed with their physical and mental endurance like novak I really like to follow the guys diet
how can coffee have tons of health benefits when caffeine literally creates a fight or flight response in your body? Your body literally raises adrenaline and keeps it high all day because of caffeine's long half life (your body sees it as a toxin that it needs to excrete). Imagine putting your body in a constant fight or flight response and saying its healthy. Mark my words, we will find out that caffeine is extremely bad for the human body. With all due respect, all caffeine addicts get angry when they hear this.
I like your stuff generally but i couldn’t finish this one. Talking about all these medical benefits where your sources are your wife, Joe Rohan, etc. is irresponsible as a creator and it felt like one big ad. Bring on a nutritionist, talk about a pros routine, but don’t pedal a product with ingredients you had never heard of as an influencer.
Thanks for your feedback, I understand where you’re coming from but would politely disagree with being irresponsible. I did a lot of reading into the drink’s plant based ingredients (as I mentioned, I hadn’t heard of them before being introduced to Magic Mind.) Maybe Joe Rogan wasn’t the best example of a recommendation… I watched a lot of others from medical experts and athletes but this one was short and snappy enough to add into the video. If you’ve enjoyed my videos before you’ll know that I rarely post about products unless I’ve tried and tested them myself and have seen benefits that I think will help you. I’m sorry you didn’t watch the rest, I’m sure there’d be something good in there for you!

I hear a nice cold beer after a match really hits the spot. More research needed.
😂😂 I can neither confirm or deny this is true.
You have to replenish carbs and relax with this sports drink post match…
Actually, don’t think more research needed.
A pint before a match works well, calms the nerves.
What conclusions have you reached in the subject matter 😂?

I like your tennis bag!! What brand is it?
Thanks, it’s Geau Sports
A magnesium tablet helps prevent cramps. Cheap. Take before play.
Also just slap more winners to cut match time... 😂
Great tip… the magnesium tablet that is 😂😂
Very useful !

Are you taking electrolytes/salts with your fluid? Maybe pickle juice can help if you can handle it?

Tennis nutrition is still stuck in the 90s! So much has changed but tennis stands still
No it isn’t 😂
Thanks !
Have you ever had a bagel? A golden one!
Only once 😉
I can't do oats in the morning before sports. For breakfast, I just have a banana and 1-2 peanut butter sandwiches. Or boiled eggs.

For sure pickle juice is good after hangover 😂
If I eat anything within 5 hours before the match I’m finito. I play much better fasted even if it’s an evening match.
