Thanks so much for the effort you are putting in this series. The moment you release it, it will be an immediate purchase from me. So good to see really incredible texturing artists sharing their knowledge lately.

Really beautiful outcome. Kudos! In regards to the tutorial, it would be really cool to see the shader network in the package you are rendering in. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the kind words Jason, absolutely I’ll be sharing the shading network part! I’m using Redshift 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Zak! Wonderful render, I am looking foward to the walkthrough/tut. I am currently (trying) to texture a nile crocodile myself, but I'm running into some issues with how to blend the aux. maps properly. I am not sure if its my way of approaching them that is wrong, or perhaps I'm not having too much resolution, or at least defiintion in the maps. Where are you baking your maps? I did them in zbrush, but I'm not really liking what it gives me, but then again - maybe Im just using it incorrectly. ibb.co/album/ZRrMQH . I am excited with your upcomming video, I think I would learn a lot and also a chance to apply it to my project. Cheers

Hey Andreas, awesome to know you’re also texturing a croc! As for using the maps, you want to grade the cavity maps to use as masks to blend in different colours to add variation. You don’t want to be multiplying or screening them as you will be baking lighting information into your maps. Your cavity map screenshots look absolutely fine, use your brightness lookup to isolate the darkest or lightest parts of the sculpt to drive different colours. 👍🏻

When is it coming out? 2 months or so? I'm planning on texturing a dinosaur and will be applying a similar workflow

Sometimes I'm wondering, it would be not easier to do photogrammetry for this kind of animal? photogrammetry and just clean up... done :D
