It likely can’t leap up to the height of the Dynamax Pokémon as Heavy Slam requires the Pokémon to go in to the air.
It likely thinks the pokemon is so heavy that the move wouldn't effect it at all. It doesn't want to end up crushed under the gaint pokemon's weight. XD

Well, it wouldn’t turn into Eternamax Eternatus because it’s not possible to get that form. And I don’t mean in the same way as G-Max Toxtricity, where it just isn’t obtainable yet without hacking, I mean it’s not possible to get it at all.

Anything that is a weight based move is not allowed with dynamax Pokémon, so you can know them but you’re not allowed to use them at all with a dynamax Pokémon
Happens with Coalossal and Heat Crash
Tara Kerwin serebii even gets exact height and weight measurements onto dynamax Pokémon to further confirm why attacks that deal damage based on weight do not work:
An example being Gigantamax butterfree, it is 55’ 9” tall with the weight value showing up ??? as sword and shield don’t know how to assign a weight onto Pokémon of that size and scale
The maximum damage cap onto weight moves is 440.9 kg at any one time at any given time, as the value is ??? Onto a Gigantamax target it exceeds the maximum permitted parameters for the move to work, the result is the Pokémon shakes head and refuses to use the move because your Pokémon and with it the sword and shield games do not know what a damage calculation is based on weight for a gigantic target (defined as the dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon of these games) so a calculation doesn’t work on oversized targets because the people behind the games chose not to set specialized programming to modify weight limits these moves can do, so the way to manage it is to stop them working altogether
All hold items stop working, your not allowed to hold anything when engaged with the raid, these Pokémon types do not know what the held item mechanic is, they’re oversized so it wouldn’t work anyway. If they can’t, you can’t hold anything either

Valfalk, actually, the Pokémon inside has increased strength. Either that or they have somehow created hard light projections. But it’s mainly my opinion.

I've found that the Raid Bosses have what I call "HP Walls" where you CANNOT do damage past those HP Walls until you reach them. The walls are what allow them to set up shields. But once those shields are up, you can hit hard enough to reach the next wall or KO them.

Hibiki The Emulator did you complete the game or wonder trade you have to be a certain amount of progress to have higher level mons listen to you so you don’t bring in lvl 100 mons from your last game so you go through the games in a hour

Frosty Fire it does the same when I want my coalossal to use heat crash on a dynamax pokemon. Just in case you didn’t know heat crash and heavy slam both do damage depending on how much heavier you are than the opponent so I’m guessing you can’t use moves like those on dynamax pokemon because they’re too heavy.
@@flamo2666 Or maybe ad the video explains, Dynamax Pokemon seem to be just projections, and as such they don't have an actual weight, explaining the question marks on their dex entries.
goOf it’s not allowed for all weight based moves at all with this battle type, do not use these as they all stop working.
You can know them normally and use them in normal battle situations, but with a max raid battle they will do nothing and are not allowed because these are often too heavy or big for the move to carry out any effect if at all

Whenever I made my Snorlax in a raid use Heavy Slam, I was always so confused why it didn’t attack, but thanks for telling us weight based moves don’t attack! That helps so much!

Destiny bond - fails
Curse - does reduced damage (like endeavour)
Instruct - using instruct on an ally that dynamaxed to try and take out an extra shield does not work. Instruct cannot be used on dynamaxed allies.
Quash - blocked by dynamax
Fake out - Dynamaxed pokemon don't flinch
Memento - move fails

Dynamax Lore is broken. The lore says it's just an illusion yet when the story has wild Dynamax Pokemon they all scream bloody murder and evacuate the gym

@@nytecrow6452 there's also the fact that dynamax moves are so powerful-- A dynamax Pokemon can theoretically do a lot more damage than a normal one because of that boost in strength. Not to mention the lack of control over it with them being Forced to dynamax instead of working w/ their trainer to do it.
Nyte Crow its like a solid hologram the actual pokemon isn't that big and it is a energy projection but that energy projection is just as dangerous as it looks so illusion is only a tad misleading
@@TranquilWitch You realize this is a world where everything is overpowered right? A single crack in a Macargo's shell can melt a city or country to molten magma. So the fact they are freaking over Dynamax makes no sense. And you claim their moves are more powerful, that's a visual effect. A game mechanic not explored or explained by the lore as Pokemon don't suddenly start using different moves.

What happens when you fight against a Raid-Ditto and the whole Team just consists out of Zacians and Zamazentas?
Will there be a Dynamax-Legendary or will the attack just fail?

Transform fails every turn if the only Pokemon against it are Zacian, Zamazenta or Eternatus
I went up against raid dittos with one zacian and one zamazenta and noticed that it occasionally failed with transform so I assume with a full team it would always fail.
@Joshua Young If everyone brings Dittos to a Ditto raid, your team will eventually lose when you're forced to Struggle. Transform will fail every turn. The raid bosses do not have PP so they will never Struggle, and you'll lose every time.
When testing how multi-hit moves would work on Raid Shields, I found each hit only counts as one point, BUT, if the first hit breaks the shield, all following hits deal damage as normal.

Are OHKO moves still inaccurate when it comes to breaking shields?
Try using the ability aftrermath, or the move self destruct or even explode, if that doesn’t work, use metronome until it happens. Keep up the fantastic work and I love that your channel has finally gained the love it deserves

It doesn't, their weight is unlisted and moves regarding weight also don't affect them
When the weight one came on I already knew the answer because once I tried to use low kick on Raihan’s dynamaxed pokemon, it just shook its head
I've also found that knockoff doesn't work either. I don't remember if that's just normally, or that the only when the shields are up.
I was so confused when I tried to use heat crash on a Dmax pokemon and got that message
Obi-Wan Kenobi you aren’t allowed to do that in a max raid battle, the game won’t let you, the raid boss won’t let you either as the weight exceeds the maximum damage parameters the move can deal normally.
So it’s easier for gamefreak to ban use of them on a raid boss, so if you have any Pokémon knowing these kinds of moves they aren’t allowed there in that situation

Just for anyone curious about Imposter Ditto: If your Imposter triggers on a Gigantamax Pokemon, your Ditto will only be able to Dynamax as the base Pokemon it copied. You can't steal G-Max moves (Although I am curious to see what Mimic would do against Max and G-Max moves). Also I'd personally advise against using Ditto to use other Pokemon's signature moves since the game outputs move animations based on the Pokemon itself, not the model the Pokemon is using, making most signature moves look weird (e.g. Zacian's Behemoth Blade keeps the Transformed Ditto's model in a T-pose and makes it clip under invisible terrain during the animation, rather than just duplicating what it would do with an actual Zacian. Eternatus's Dynamax Cannon looks like a glorified Hyper Beam when used from a Transformed Ditto, rather than coming out of its chest in the real animation).
Did you try the move curse ? I hope game freak forgot about this one.
I'll test it. I'll update in 5 minutes.
Edit: It actually did work. My Runerigus cut its own HP and the game said I put a curse on the enemy. It did about 1/16 of the enemy's health. Pretty decent deal actually. It also goes through that annoying barrier higher-ranked Dynamax Pokémon set up after taking enough damage.

(7:14) LOL, I've had Bewears hounding me at this den too. What I usually do is just let them "hug" me, and then I flee the battle so that they vanish from the field, and then I can have time to focus on the den itself.
(8:29) That's neat that 1-hit KO moves break two barriers if the shield is up, but it's unfortunate that they otherwise don't deal damage. Also, do 1-hit KO moves still have to pass the accuracy check to strike the barriers? I mean, if it's a guaranteed hit on the barriers, it might be worth having a 1-hit KO move available just for that, but if they still have to deal with the low accuracy, then they're probably not worth it.
(9:38) Yeah, what's with that Magikarp often showing up? At least it somehow knows Hydro Pump, but still...
(9:58) It is quite dumb that weight-based moves such as Heavy Slam and Low Kick just have your Pokémon be like "nope", instead of just dealing damage based on the Dynamaxed target's original weight.

Well, it wouldnt be cheese if it was intended to work...
To clarify, this means that you have to try literally EVERYTHING before you can just say that cheese doesn't work at all.
I always use counter against dynamax with my drednaw and it works and it pretty much one shots them

Ive used curse, it does big damage and melted eternatus
Or memento. I think raid bosses only neutralize the player characters stat changes and not their own though I could be wrong

10:12 to be fair, other moves based on weight such as Low Kick or Grass Knot are tactically aimed at the Pokémon’s feet to trip them, so if you can’t tell where the Pokemon is based off of the illusion you can’t trip them up.
Short answer: Mostly "no".
But ditto is interesting: the gigantimax shield stops Transform.
I only have two gripes about this
One. It's not fair that the pokemon AI can attack 6 times in one turn and that it puts up a stupid sheild and you bearly even damage it.
Two, it's cheap and that the ai pokemon can change everyone's status and that it goes before you 3 times before you get to attack. And that your team sucks ass.
This is broken even if you use broken moves on a raid. Visa versa.
Gamefreak didn't put much consideration into AI teammates. But at least if you manage to take down the raid Pokemon (when your playing with AI no players) you have a 100% catch rate.

Arifin surya Destiny bond does not work. Serebii has a list of moves that are ineffective against Dynamax mons
With multi hit moves, only the first move breaks a shield segment, but the other hits still do damage (although reduced because of the shield)
4:41 "Flutterby", I came up with that name long ago after Butterfree was introduced, as a parody to Butterfree. Oh, well...
The reason damage is weird with raid battles is that the max pokemon's health is actually broken up into multiple segments (Not that the game ever tells you that). This means that even if an attack should do a ton of damage, if it hits one of those invisible segments, the damage will stop and the boss will put its shield up.
What a lazy thing from gamefreak for the weight moves
