It's definitely been in the news. Seniors who rely on their home equity for financial stability might have faced some challenges if their homes were affected.
That's true. I can imagine the stress they might be under, especially if their homes were damaged or if they had to evacuate. Their financial situation could be quite vulnerable.
Absolutely, and even if their homes weren't directly hit, the economic fallout from the hurricane could have ripple effects on property values, which could impact their home equity.
That's a valid point. If the local housing market takes a hit due to the hurricane, it could affect property values and subsequently impact seniors' home equity. This could impact their retirement plans
I also wonder if insurance coverage plays a role here. Seniors who were affected might rely on insurance to cover repairs, but the extent of coverage could vary and potentially impact their ability to tap into their home equity.
Additionally, the emotional toll of dealing with a natural disaster like this could impact seniors' decision-making. They might be hesitant to make major financial decisions, including leveraging their home equity.

Being in the heart of Tornado Alley I wouldn't be a bit surprised at some of those tornadoes that we're in Florida probably where ef3 approaching ef4 just by the videos I've been shown. I mean they definitely look like tornadoes that would hit in the heartland but my heart goes out to those who were affected by Hurricane Milton.
@@DimplesGenX unfortunately I think that Florida as well as states that are vulnerable to hurricanes may also have to contend with even stronger and more violent tornadoes due to warming sea temperatures and the polar ice caps melting which continues to warm the up. So I think building codes need to be taken into account and all of these houses in Florida as well as adjacent States may have to start putting above ground tornado shelters in their building codes. Are people may just have to start thinking about above ground shelters in general I know they wouldn't protect against storm surge but at least above ground shelters could protect people against the damaging winds and debris from not only tornadoes but the hurricanes themselves that oftenly do not have the damaging winds that tornadoes have or at least not sustained for long periods of time. And as for the storm surge the have an idea of how to deal with the storm surge but it would be costly but I think it would pay off in the end and that would be running large sections of canals under Florida that way then even with the highest storm surge it would just go through the canals under Florida instead of piling up on the streets and causing an even bigger headache.

The mayor in one place said if you stay you're going to die... I think she told me enough to tell me to get the heck on up this hwy if I'm on East or West ...
Been in Florida since 1953, first time I cried during a Hurricane, I was terrified, the wind and noise was frightening.
Yes and no basements in most of Florida
I’m a couple hours north of Joplin.. you never know when or how hard Mother Nature will hit
I'm from Oklahoma..in doesn't matter where u live nowadays for twister to hit
@@KpChosen-g6k agreed.

Prayers for all who are in the Toronto and are heartbroken 🙏❤.
Sending love and hopeful prayers to you all from me in Australia, my heart broke for you all suffering from two horrific storms in 13 days.❤😢
Poor Florida! 😭🙏🏻❤️
The roof on the stadium was "fabric?" Why??
Because........ Florida.
😛
Better to have fabric tearing and flying around than tin roofs. It would likely have ripped either way.
The real question is why were first responders housed in that place? Who was sitting on their brain when that decision was made?
@dr.michaellittle5611 used as staging area. We have linemen from far away as CA. Trop field large enough to house..feed..and do their laundry. I appreciate all of em even tho we still have no power😂
Tom always does a great job. Thank you Tom!❤
Nothing but "Prayers and thoughts," for Floridians.
Thoughts and prayers are useless in rebuilding
@@cub35guy
They are useless for anything.
Go help them rebuild.
Praying for all those who are affected by this catastrophic storm Milton. I'm continuing to pray for all those affected by storm Helene as well. Praying that they will recover quickly back to normalcy.🙏🏿🛐🙏🏿🛐
Lived in Tampa & Sarasota in the '90s & there is one reason I left
U NEVER REALIZE HOW LUCKY UR UNTIL U SEE THIS. HORROR AND SADNESS BE GLAD WITH WHAT U HAVE AND PRAY.❤
Looks absolutely huge disaster in FL.
Hope the government helps those people
Soon as possible.
YES GOD BLESS AND GET THEM THROUGH❤❤❤❤
Not only is there loss of homes, lives and the destruction of communities but what happens to peoples mail and purchases they made online that will probably never be accounted for or delivered since there's no homes and no addresses. There's more destruction here than we can possibly know. Alligators are another MAJOR THREAT. I saw a video yeaterday of a woman who opened her front door to find an alligator in her livingroom.😢😮
I lived down south near the beach for 15 yrs. Every year was a risk of hurricane damage. I left a few years ago but I still worry about my parents.
America needs more Doctors and nurses or any health care staffs that is properly paid.
😢 My godness, I'm so sorry!!!
If I would have the money for a plain ticket I would fly to the United States, Florida and help the people to clean up 😢
