    Would it be best just to take the engine out to do this job if you have the time too

    hi love your videos always so thorough! question for you...my 2004 camry 2.4 has a problem but im not sure what it is. axels are good and transmission is good and it has a recent tune up but when i put it in drive nd give it the gas the car bucks but there are no check engine lights....when it bucks the the revs stay the same its not like its going from 1500 rpm to 4000 rpm. i cant fiigure it out...do you know what can cause the bucking?

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi and thanks for watching my videos, do you all letters P R N D are highlighter when ever they need to? in so many cases this is the neutral safety switch that is loosing some of the positions already, also rusty brockets that are attached to that transmission cable doe to rust they dont allow the shifter or neutral safety switch to complete the change to another gear, also wornout or weak drive gears in the transmission but to find out if this is the issue put the car in drive in a slope with out the foot in the brake pedal and the car is supposed to move forward if the drive gears are still in good condition. also misadjusted transmission cable.

      @@JM-AUTO yes aall the prndl light up. its not gears slipping. what do you think about possible stretched / worn timing chain , can that cause bucking when accelerating?

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CAFEX24 There are a number of things that may cause the car to hesitate when accelerating such as low fuel pressure, dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor, clogged, dirty fuel injectors, faulty throttle position sensor or a bad fuel pump, dirty vvt solenoid control vaves. all of this might happen with out check engine light in the instrument cluster. personally i dont think it is the timing chain, does the engine shake?.

    • @CAFEX24
      @CAFEX24 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JM-AUTO no shaking at all...starts up nicely and idles great! but everytime i take off it goes vroom, vroom, vrooom....lol. tranny shifts fine too. even when i accelerate in park its smooth ...only in drive does it hesitate, i should try replacing the maf and clean out the tb. thanks alot!

    What miles should the timing chain be replaced?

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      between 80.000 and 120.000 miles, As a general rule, if oil was changed on a regular basis, the timing chain should last the lifetime of the engine. but the guides, tensioners and other timing chain components wont last that long. thanks for visiting my channel and God bless you and your family as well.

  • @Swenser

    If it's a chain and not a rubber belt I think I'll leave mine for the life of the engine and hope it lasts.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tensioners n guides don't last the life of the car n the chain wears out n finally it looses time.

    There is no way that drill had enough torque to break those 14 and 17mm bolts did you break them with a breaker bar before filming?

      I loose them first to save time with video.
