I'll be honest I only went into this fight wanting to spam EX attack as much as possible and torture the AI. I thought I'd reach the scripted end by exploding the bosses with explosion chains before the AI would die.

Dayum this is quite an ingenious strategy. Not only do you force out the AI's bombs, you also deny it EX level up since the bombs drain the charge meter.

I don't really understand touhou 19's mechanics too well yet. can you explain what the strategy is?

@@ethan2803 the main strategy is somewhat similar to the phantasmagoria games..... you want to do these more often:
- charge up level 2s
- chain up killing enemies as much as possible
- only charge up level 3s/4s when your shield is down (i.e., when the yellow circle is gone and the gauge blinks)

I see Zanmu decided to not use her lvl 2 charge more often, would’ve been a nightmare if she did.

Yeah but that spawns a ton of spirits whenever she does, and Orin can abuse that with either her skill or scope and obliterate bosses like at 2:00. My original plan was gonna be to speedrun her boss sections with that but for some reason the Zanmu AI just forgot it existed later on and I ended up having this clear. I think the reason why they kept opting for level 3 instead of level 2 is because it prioritized getting barrier back over cancelling out my spirits with level 2. There's an even better video on Bilibili where the Zanmu AI doesn't forget and ends up destroyed way harder than in my own video.

Yeah so as you noticed, this is actually one of the best ways for Orin to win, though it's not exactly uh... consistent
How long did it take you and on what difficulty haha

Think I got lucky and got this not even 5 attempts in. It was lunatic difficulty, the Zanmu AI never uses level 2 on any other difficulty not even on VS mode.

I thought Orin was weak with her normal attack but her charged, yes.
