    I have the Lang mini-pry bar set. Another very nice US made option, keep them in the top drawer of the tool chest as they come in handy regularly! Simple idea, but often a versatile solution to many a problem.

    been carrying one of the snap on pocket prybars w bent tip for months now. ordered it off student discount for ~15 cad. use it literally every day without complaint, basically everyone else i work with has now replaced their pocket screwdriver with some kind of pocket prybar (mac + lisle). still my snap on seems to be the best, the smaller handle fits better in the pocket and the shallower bend allows for easy use as a screwdriver. we dont find the angle an issue because our prying tasks for these are never very tough

    Lang makes nice USA made pocket pry bars with no clip and a good bend. (Edit: they have a clip)

      The thing I don’t like about the lang is that the shaft isn’t very tight in the handle. My curved ones have both spun in the handle when trying to pry stubborn things. Snap on has yet to and my super cheap amazon ones have yet to

    I've been a lot about knives lately, up until these last few days. Now I have come around to my mini Wiha flathead screwdriver as an all-in-one tool (ripper, scraper, bend/pry and, of course, screwing actual screws). I have most use for a package ripper and pry tool though and the bigger of these two Lisle's looks like a fine match to try out.
    Thanks for the insight you provided!

    The best thing about the Lisle pocket pry bar set is that they use flat bar stock and and the 3/16 thickness. I don't like that Lisle used that slick smooth shiny plastic handle though. I wish they would have added some graining or texture to it. It's also good that Lisle skipped including a regular straight pocket screwdriver. Perhaps Tekton and Icon will come out wit their versions soon.

    I have the Gatos after your showing them before, and in general have had good luck with them. I did remove the clip, and steel wooled , and emory clothed them down to a nice satin finish.
    After seeing CP the Tool addict review these Lisles before I almost got them, but held off.
    Now they'' go back in my Amazon cart!
    Useful review, Thanks

    Hey Doc, I like your Snap-on modifications. Nice job. I finally got my PBMB5G and think it's pretty good. My intention of use is strictly for light duty and precision and the mild angle doesn't bug me too much. And it's hard to find anything from SO and made in USA for only $13 lol. At least that was the price at the time. I will definitely get the Lisle versions. They seem great and VERY reasonably priced for the build quality. And CP the tool addict was instrumental in getting these developed. A win, win.

    I bought the US made Mayhew mini pry bars and shortened them, because they're 6" long overall.
    Pulled off the handle, cut the shank down and reinstalled the handle. They don't have a clip, but I don't need it.
    I wish they were thicker than 1/8", but in use they've been perfectly fine because the shank is square.

      Excellent idea. I have some square shank long Craftsman cabinet screwdrivers. You can find them a dime a dozen. Those would be great prybars if shortened and bent properly. Stay Tuned!

      @@lastbesttool I have done that before, but I wanted something more official than just a bent screwdriver.
      I really like the Mayhew mini pry bar set.
      Also because I'm a Channellock fanboy and had 2 sets of the blue Channellock branded Mayhew picks which use the same handles, I did a swap while I was at it to make myself a Channellock pocket pry bar.

    Mayhew makes a pocket pry bar set you may want to check out. It is definitely bigger than most but still a good design and USA made

    I have both straight and bent snap on ones. I never used the straight one and now keep it in my car as spare.
    But I do agree the bend is not that pronounced and would be more useful if it had more to it.
    Imma go and buy a lisle now, thanks. Tho, I am looking at the tekton too.

    Nah, there is a Snap-on “pocket prybar” that is insanely good which I don’t see in this video, It’s technically a pocket screwdriver but it’s a flat blade and it’s supremely strong. Polished blade, super slim, and rear magnet. It can remove most trim pieces without causing any damage. It can pry where it shouldn’t be able to, and I’ve never had one break, I only lost one because it’s so darn tiny
    They are usually sold on the truck for 1$ each

    I think that the pocket snap on pry bar has a less bend becase it is also used to be flip over for the other direction on prying things differently in auto motive industry. Tighter spaces less able to get a more bend into some places. However all the pry bars u showed seem to be good. Just 1 more thing. Snap on heat treats their products giving it way more strength and durability. Thx for the vieo.

    I don't understand why people EDC pry bars. It's a tool I use just a couple of times per year. How are you guys using them so frequently?

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do. If you wobble it just right you can use it as a screwdriver. I use it at work and it comes in handy for a million small tasks that I would have otherwise had to go back to my toolbox and get something. Having that leverage is a huge advantage to move something heavy without a easy way to grip it. I have to cover holes with silicone and I feel better using a small pry bar than having my finger always exposed to chemicals.

    • @ZPositive
      @ZPositive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@markm0000 cool! Thanks for sharing that insight. It sounds like prying isn't the main thing you use it for. What percentage of your usage is actually prying?

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can definitely say I use it for more stuff than a normal chrome pocket screwdriver because it’s got that curve and made of much stronger metal. If I could give a percentage how much I’m actually using the prying function probably 10%.

    • @Tools_and_Guitars
      @Tools_and_Guitars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find them handy for a lot of things. I use them not only for light-duty prying, but also as a precision scraper for paint or other debris. Also useful for removing staples when a normal staple remover isn't around, adjusting an occasional slotted fastener. Probably a few more things that I can't recall, but it's great because of it's small size for easy carry and can get a few things done.

    • @ZPositive
      @ZPositive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markm0000 well then I guess I'm not thinking far enough out of the box. I wonder how many uses I'd find if I just started carrying one. Thanks again for your insights.

    The bend is way too far up on the Snap On, huge loss of leverage especially for a tiny prybar. What a shame because no thought went into it. I'm also not a fan of their crown handle design, the crown digs into your hand where you push the hardest to get the most leverage, obviously their prybar design team are just office people who never used a prybar in their life. And if the crown was designed to protect your hand from over strikes with a hammer, then maybe you shouldn't be using hand tools and take up an office job ! Love your chanel by the way, you can never have too many tools !
