    I bought a second bandsaw for the exact same reason... one of resaw and one for curves.

    The L in the G055LANV35 stands for “length” as in a longer blade than their regular 555 counterparts. I’m a Grizzly employee and I work on these kind of machines everyday. If you’re interested in the 555 series, might I suggest the G0555XH (xtra height). Those seem to be the best of the 555 series.

    My wife sat down and started watching this video with me. She lasted about 2 minutes, then got nauseous watching you walk around your shop. :) Agreed on the carbide tipped blade, they're awesome.

    I glad you had a good result with that blade. It sounds like a good design. But I have had a BAD experience with laguna and that blade. I bought one 155" blade and the weld was so bad that the blade almost jumped out of the support bearings. They quickly sent me a replacement and it was just as bad. And after that they quick answering my emails. I took the blade to a local saw shop and they could not fix the problem. I decided I'm too old to be wasting my time getting this corrected. I am taking the loss. I also have a Hitachi resaw bandsaw with a 3" wide blade that tracks well. My local equipment shop was also sending back a poorly welded resaw king blade. So just be careful dealing with laguna.

    I have the 18BX and a Resew King blade and I couldn't agree more. I was stunned at the finish if left when I first used it.

    Thanks. Just bought a Harvey 15" 3hp saw for resawing and my next purchase will be the Resaw King.

    Very good info! Thanks for sharing
    I'll tuck that one away and pull it out when I find I finally can't live without a bandsaw.

    I have a Jet 16” I keep a 1” 2/3 tpi resaw blade on and a Delta 14” I keep a 1/4” 6 tpi blade on. It is very convenient!

    Jay, you're sooo right about that blade (and saw). I bought my 18BX about 3 (or 4?) years ago with the same blade and I am definitely spoiled~! The original bandsaw that I bought back in early '90 was the Craftsman 12" with the tilting head...still have it. I purchased a few other blade sizes with the Laguna since they were on sale, but I've yet to take the Resaw King blade off of it. I just finished cutting discs/slabs from a Cedar log to be used as centerpiece bases on the tables at my son's wedding coming up in April. That saw is a BEAST~!! I first saw it in your shop when you bought it (I think I emailed you about it) and then I saw it pop up in a few other shops on TH-cam. Having no real resaw capacity with the Craftsman, I made the jump and have not looked back since. I love this thing~!!

    I got a 1” wide Resaw King a few yrs ago with my Powermatic PM15, awesome for resawing! Also kept my ancient Delta 14” saw with a 1/4” blade so I never have to change blades…yes I’m lazy!

    Just setting up my straight rip cut bandsaw today. Have already started looking for a used bandsaw that can be dedicated to curve cuts. I get it.

    I just purchased the same blade I received a lot of backlash from people saying you don’t need to spend so much money on a blade but after hearing your thoughts on it I’m glad I did so thanks for the review and most of all reassurance I made the right decision

    I’ve been using this blade forever. And you’re right. It’s a fantastic blade. Unfortunately, Laguna is no longer sharpening the resaw king. Given its cost I don’t think it has the same value as it once did. Given that it cannot be resharpened. What do you think?

  • @MCsCreations

    I've heard only good things about those blades with carbide tooth.

    I’ve been using the resaw king for years and you’re right, it’s a fantastic blade. Unfortunately, Laguna is no longer sharpening this blade. They told me that their equipment is too old and out of tune. In my opinion this blade is no longer worth the costs given that it cannot be re-sharpened. What are your thoughts?

    I've got the same Laguna saw and Resaw King blade and I 100% agree that they are fabulous! My only criticism of the machine is that the outfeed side of the fence tends to deflect to the left if I apply a little too much lateral pressure to keep the piece in contact with the fence through the cut. Have you run into this and/or come up with any solutions?

    • @JayBates2
      @JayBates2  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's the worst thing about the saw. However, the fence is shaped perfectly to accept an F style clamp right in the back to clamp it to the table.

    • @ronh9384
      @ronh9384 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Use a mag switch magnet behind it or use a mag switch fence. I don’t know if Carter makes a replacement fence for your saw…

    i couldn't avoid noticing that the teeth on that sawblade have irregular spacing. is that intentional?

    • @JayBates2
      @JayBates2  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Not sure why. But it is.

    • @ezraherman1413
      @ezraherman1413 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it is. Called 'variable spacing', i think. It is to dampen resonant vibration and make the cut smoother. It's the same reason you have irregular spacing on high quality rasps and why troops don't march in step across bridges...

    I have the Grizzly G0555xh 14” that @jcsmith800 mentions in an earlier comment. I also have the Resaw King blade on it for about a year and love it. I’ve run 10+” ash, maple, oak and cherry through it and it’s always impressed me with great results.
