    that brings back memories...1/2 an hour to get it started, [especially in winter] leaking water pump, growling rear end, hard cold seat, close the radiator shutters in a head wind, open for tail wind,[motor temp control] things one does at age 10 on the farm!!

    Drove one of those in April 1960 pulling a Massey Harris dung slinger, and then silage trailer and tedding hay. I made up a railway sleeper start ramp that gave it the initial momentum to get out of the shed and down a short hill for a bump start.
    But mine was better than yours as it had the Deluxe seat covers, a large hessian sack folded four times, held in place with wire. Got in big trouble one day forgetting to switch it over to TVO from petrol.
    Later I got to drive the 3 year old Power Majors and finished up on the 1 year old Massey Ferguson 65. Man that was the RR of the fleet of 13 tractors.

    Lovely tractor and great video! The generator looks the same as on the E1a Major, was this what they came with or has it been upgraded?

    Fordson Major E27N… ist ein Diesel, welche Kühlung? Mit Wasserpumpe oder ohne? Konvektionskueler? hat keinen E starter …, aber großartig wie er anspringt. Super Traktor ohne Zweifel. N. W.

    Great tractor great video thanks.
    There is a guy in Ballarat making brand new Yuba spark arrestors. A Google search will find him. Also I love the Good Year torque grips.
    Just how I remember Fordsons when I was a boy. Does it have a high speed gearbox ? It seems to slip alone pretty well.
    Looking forward to more interesting videos, maybe of the tractor working.
    Cheers, Dave.

      The tractor has the low speed gearbox and the next video of this tractor will most likely be a restoration video as the tractor currently is in many pieces on pallets and in containers.

    Nice tractor , running well , was it running on TVO or just straight petrol , TVO in case you call it something else is a class of kerosene / parrafin here in Ireland .
    Cheers🤔

    • @everythingold7968
      @everythingold7968  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just run it on petrol, kerosene is a bit expensive here at $117 for a 20L drum and its only lighting kerosene which still works just fine. You can't get power kerosene/TVO here anymore which is a bit annoying. Petrol right now is at about $1.90-$2.0 per Litre. We mainly say kero/kerosene here but we know what you mean when you say TVO or parrafin.
      Should be a video up soon of that tractor again. I've just finished fully restoring it.
      Thanks for Watching.

    I thought the name Major started with the new diesel model in the 1950is. Always E27 before that.

      The Fordson Major Model E27N Tractor was introduced in 1945 and produced till 1952. The E27N retained the Model N's 28.5 h.p. petrol and tractor vaporizing oil (Kerosene)

    From what I know the noise the cranking made didn't sound too good and you have the wrong rear wheel dishes also fronts and incorrect front tyres

    • @austral7634
      @austral7634 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Daniel Hill, what you don't know, the noise heard when cranking is from the magneto impulse and that is quite normal. Apart from the front tyres, the tractor has the correct wheel equipment as factory fitted for Australian sold units. Wheels, tyres, batteries and spark arrestors were all sourced locally.

    • @davidrobertson376
      @davidrobertson376 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We Australians built the famous Chamberlain tractor and Howard tractor!
      The wheels are a split cast iron rim making repairs simple and adding weight. They were available in different widths and diameters and cast weights could be bolted on the inside.
      The spark arrestors were made in Geelong Victoria by Brockmans and called Yuba spark arrestors and fitted to many tractors in Australia.
      Some have survived decades of use and there is a chap in Ballarat making high quality copys for the restoration community.
      Really looking forward to seeing more of this fine tractor in future videos. Dave.

      @@austral7634 I've watched quite a bunch of Major starting videos now and the cranking sounds the same in almost every video, so it got me wondering if Daniel's comment is BS. Well, it was! Thank you for correcting the misinformation.
