15:40 you definitely want your high bay light dimmable. I'm imagining an episode from the office ( I would imagine it was definitely in the UK version but I know it was in the US version ) where you might want to set the mood in your warehouse for that special naping corner on the top shelf behind some boxes.
It’s quite surprising but Chauvin Arnoux is actually still based in France, albeit with a factory in China as well as in France, Italy and U.S. I’d assumed it was just one of those once famous brand names bought up by China! Good to see Linda especially for the shout outs!
I appreciate a company that holds on to its heritage - goodness knows big marques such as Philips, Osram and Sylvania have sold out their brands, but CA is still in the Arnoux family. One of the Anoux's themselves visited here the week after our filming. I hope he liked the lighting!
Yes, it would be good to use their MFT in anger. Aside from it being on Chauvin's UK channel, it might appear in the hands of someone like Jamie Blatant who, as a commercial sparks, would be better placed to put it through its paces and won't mince his words if he doesn't like it!
Great video! I loved when you held the plug up and went "there you go that’s how you do it delroy" 😂 I like the old discharge lamps but they do use more power and take much longer to warm up.
@@dsesuk I work for a mining company and still use the Metrix MX 57EX as my daily. It looks to be a re-branded version of the ITT with ATEX certification. Extremely tough bit of kit!
Hey, just wanted to say I remember your recent video on outside LED lighting, the amount of call outs you get, even the ones you buy from reputable places like Screwfix get them from China now. Well my Lucecco ones I bought last year just failed in the cold weather. Both the solar and mains ones! You were right. Everything is crap now. can't even stand up to a -3 night.
@@dsesuk I never had a problem 10 years ago. It's only the recent ones I bought that seem crap. You can tell they are cheaper made. Even the brackets are more flimsy and smaller.

I wouldn't mind trying out some CA gear, used to use it on ships many moons ago.. ill have to find out what shows they're going to this year.. that mft looks tasty.. good vid Savo .. Nigels looking good after the weight loss🤣
Hmmm, where to start..? Well at 12:25 I think it's highly appropriate that light is on the toilet circuit, after all it is an LED 😋 Oh yes, 24:45 is Kev going to sell that lux meter as new now it's been taken out of the box and used..? 🤣 Two in a row with no mentions, I suppose I'd better send some of the folding stuff 🤔
I can't help but wonder if you'd have been better off setting that light to permanently be dimmed a little. Driving the LEDs a little cooler and more efficiently, potentially prolonging their lifespan.
Perhaps not a bad shout. I guess as it isn't used much and the bloody place is always cold, even in summer, it stands a decent chance of lasting a while as-is.

I actualy avoided this brand due to the name sounding like some foreign trash and never spoken within the "Popular crowds" lol but i can safely say that since you have done these videos you have changed my mind on their gear.
Oh, not at all, CA are still family owned and have a heritage going back over 130 years. A lot of traditional brands have sold out to Chinese conglomerates who trade shoddy products on once respectable marques, but that's not the case here. They're not even paying me to say that!
@@dsesuk I know you love your test gear so your opinion on their brand is enought for me to give them a whirl on my next test gear purchase to see what i think. That CA117 was it, looked really nice even if the handle is in an odd position lol
Not a socket like that no, this being a standard BS1363 arrangement. I don't know who installed that up there or why they didn't go for some kind of quick-release lighting connector, but I guess there's nothing inherently wrong with it. One tends to avoid BS1363 sockets on 6A lighting circuits just in case someone plugs in the toaster and plunges the place into darkness, but that's not going to happen here without some significant effort!
Plug-in lighting is quite common in the commercial world. It makes maintinance's job easier and safer. They can unplug the light to either make it safe to work on in situ or to remove it completely for repair or replacement. No need to hunt down the breaker, no need to isolate a whole lighting circuit. However using a regular 13A socket is not normal. Inaccessible fuses are generally considered undesirable (some might argue if the fuse is blown it means the equipment is faulty, but fuses do blow from time to time for no obvious reason) and so is allowing regular building users to plug stuff into lighting circuits. There are various brands of plug-in connector sold specifically for lighting and these seem to be the normal choice in indoor commercial environments. Probablly the best known being the hager klik which also comes in a four pole variant for emergency lighting.

As Dave says, Chauvin Arnoux is still very much a family owned French business, currently celebrating 130 years in business.
What a heartwarming video to release on a rainy January evening, keep up the good work! 👍

Realistically any real world fault that would blow a 3A plug fuse would also blow a 13A fuse.
Much like many things in life that new light fitting looked enormous and bulbous in the box but was really quite small and stubby when unwrapped
Excellent David thank you Linda as allways VFM
25:55 Wouldn't it be great if the Lux-Meter had the display and sensor in separate units so you can ready the display easily?
The sensor does detach, albeit still tethered to the curly cable.
