Hey everyone! Hope you all had a relaxing Christmas or Holiday yesterday! We sure did, but we're also ready to start 2019 off strong! We're seeing a lot of comments stating our "biased" to or against a certain brand. Please be sure to watch the WHOLE video before assuming the winner and leaving your comments. The results may surprise you so we encourage everyone to see the whole review first. Thanks for watching as always :)

I always enjoy all your reviews for your in depth knowledge and thoroughness. Usually the only thing I ever disagree with you on are 360 cameras. I have a nissan with 360 cameras and if you live in a place that has poor weather for 8 months of the year you end up with a brown thumb (from constantly wiping dirt and road salt from the cameras). Keep up the excellent work!!

My last two cars have been Altimas. One died at 262k(04) and one at 194k(06). THAT being said, it seems that the newer Altima's just don't have the same reliability that they used to.

In my opinion the styling on the Altima is sleeker. However, the interior on the Camry feels more upscale than the Altima. But the seats on the Altima are definitely more comfortable when I did a test drive of both cars. I ended up getting a new 2018 Altima since they were closing out the 2018s to make room for the newly redesigned 2019 Altima and got an offer I couldn't refuse. Whether you opt for the 2019 Camry or 2019 Altima you really can't go wrong either way since they are both really great cars.

Hmm we;ve had 4 Nissan and 4 Toyotas and the Toyotas had trim fall off almost right after purchase. None of the Nissans had that problem. Having sticky issues with the Tundra window controls now, and the door hinges on the passenger front did not hold up. We got over 225k miles with the Nissan small pickup from the 1990s with almost no work except occasional clutch work... as it was a manual. OVerall we've found the Nissans to be slightly less powerful, but more reliable and sturdy than the Toyotas.... Corona a LONg time ago, 2 Rav4s and a Camry and Tundra. Nissan 1 small pickup, 2 xterras (2002 and 2015) and the 2020 Altima. The Ravs were assisted FWD and 4WD and they couldn't really cut it in snow, ice, dirt roads in a rural town. The xterras take them like a champ... the pickup did well too. The Tundra v8 is kick ass fast... hard not to burn rubber from a stop lol. BUT is seemed to be a bit shoddy in manufacturing.. for the interiors and doors, windows..

I have a 2015 Nissan Altima. I had to get the computer program updated on my transmission and air bag. Other than that I have had no problems. This car is so enjoyable to ride. I love how comfortable the seats are. I normally get sore or tired when driving for a long time, but not in this car. I have owned mostly Nissans in my life. All have been very reliable. My 87 pickup is still going strong. I think Nissan is getting a bad rap on their CVT transmissions. That is not to say that there have not been some problems on some. Keep in mind they sell Millions of these transmissions, so percentage wise they are doing better than the people bad mouthing them. New technology is always criticized by people. People do not like change. Also in the beginning when dealing with new technology there will be some bugs that have to be worked out. I am grateful that Nissan is continuing to make their CVT's better and learning from any problems in the past, rather than to just stay with the old way of doing things.

    • @marshallosantos9035
      @marshallosantos9035 3 ปีที่แล้ว

CVT is not a new technology. Nissan has been using them since at least the early 90’s. So has Honda. The difference is the quality. Nissan has been proven to drop the ball in this aspect. I’ve owned two Nissan vehicles and can confirm this. Despite the warnings I was given I went and bought them anyway, and guess who paid out of pocket for those repairs. Never again Nissan. Meanwhile my roommate drives a Honda older than him with over 260 000 miles. And guess who owns a Honda after my last Nissan fiasco. To hell with Nissan. Buy at your own risk.

As a retired mechanic, you couldn’t give me a variable compression engine and to make it worse adding a turbo with CVT to it..... that engine and trans is going to be very expensive over years with its deep pockets repairs.

No cooled seats on a maxed out Camry XLE V6 was one of the deal breakers for me, especially since I live in Southern Texas. Cooled seats are starting to appear on mainstream compact sedans, so not having it on a $35,000+ Camry is unacceptable going into 2019. Might as well go for an XLE Avalon if you’re aren’t getting cooled seats.

Stevorn Richards It’s my money and I want my cooled seats; I don’t see how that is being spoiled when competing cars for the same price offer it. Also, ventilated seats can be very refreshing on hot, humid, and sweaty Texas summer days. It’s not simply just turning the A/C on.

Haven't driven the Altima but earlier this year I seriously considered several midsize sedans. On my scorecard the Accord 2.0L (Touring) came out in first place; the Mazda6 (Signature) in second; the Camry V6 (XSE) in third; the Ford Fusion AWD V6 turbo (Sport) in fourth; and the Passat GT V6 in fifth (but with a star as a value choice at under $25K in real world pricing.) Based on this and other reviews of the Altima, I think it would rank behind the Camry for me. And considering that both the Fusion and the Passat GT are now gone, that's not much of a compliment.
The most puzzling decision Nissan has made with the Altima is to offer AWD only with the base, non-turbo engine. I can only imagine the difficulty a Nissan salesperson must face in explaining to a customer that they can have a relatively powerful, fuel efficient engine or AWD. They just can't have both. What on earth is Nissan thinking?

I actually really like how that front grill looks in just size on the Altima Platinum. Honestly I like what Nissan is offering in many segments but their reliability has done downhill compared to their 80’s and 90’s cars ever since Renault bought into the Nissan Company In 2002. Sure they have become much more attractive and have kept up with tech and engine advances with turbo option and the electric Leaf is a nice option for people who can’t afford a Tesla. Sadly the cars suffer from electronic problems after a couple years of ownership in my experience. I had a 2005 Maxima top of the range with all the options. While I loved the ride and power, not long after the 60,000 mile mark I began having lighting problems where all the lights in the car would work intermittently, I replaced the bulbs In the entire car and the problem went away for a while, shortly after my fuel pump went out, then I had my O2 sensor go out, the my coils went out and they actually went out 3 different times while I owned it. The trans electronic controls went out at 84,000 miles and at that point I wanted to get rid of it so I fixed everything and sold it. I know the owner of it and he’s a huge Nissan guy so he wanted it as a daily so he didn’t have to drive his Nissan Silvia turbo clone. He said that he’s been having many of the same problem of those going out so he replaced the entire body harness, engine hardness and replaced both the ecu, and pcm, also he replaced the fuse boxes themselves and all fuses and relays. He was able to go about 2 years after that before many of the same problems started coming back. So is this a lemon? Or have many of you had similar issues? My neighbor has an Exterra which had many of the same issues electronically as well. So as attractive as the new Altima Platinum looks, I don’t trust it yet. We’ll see how the car holds up over the next couple years and I’ll check with other owners at that time to see how reliable they’ve been. I’m crossing my fingers because it’s a nice car and my wife would really like one but I told her to wait to find out how reliable it’s going to be. So I’ll be forum surfing and reconning about the Altima for the next year or so to see if it’s worthy of taxi-ing my other half around.

I've been an auto fan since I was a toddler, so I take cars very seriously. My dream car is an Audi A8(particular car). Honda could also take the spot too.

I'd pick the Camry over the Altima inside out including the power-train.

Good comparison we need a comparison between the best in this class in my opinion Mazda 6 vs Honda accord.

      I’ll rather get a 2019 optima.

Sadly, not only are cars being discontinued slowly in USA, if cars are produced they are putting turbo 4 cylinders instead of v6 engines in the name of fuel efficiency! The threat of electric cars is making automakers switch to turbo 4 cylinders

Im really comfortable with my 2016 SL Altima
But im gonna buy new Camry 2019 sport it completely different

Good decision cause the 2016 altima SL is litterally just as loaded as the 2019 altima so its better to go with the 2019 Camry xse more value for the money. And to be honest the the 2019 altima feels cheaper and less sporty than the 2016 altima

Yeah no comparison there, Camry for the win. More standard features, V6, and panoramic roof. The fact that Nissan thinks it’s ok to cover the entire rear door of the Altima in plastic doesn’t help either.
