@@FrenchCoach Thanks i’m watching it right now. It’s refreshing to see a none french native telling me how to learn the language more relatable for me. Ps I wasted over 2 years on good old duo lingo and no surprise but i can barely word a french sentence.
@@AshBuckets23 lovely to hear. The exact reason I begun posting videos is to help serious French learners get proper results. Great to see you doing well already.
you have finished the lesson once you have understood all of the main text (lines 1-15), and also the exercises. goal is not to memorise or know everything off by heart. instead, understanding the French to a 60-80% level using the English to help you.
Hi Rory. Question for you. I have been learning French for about 2 years now. I have a relatively large vocabulary; hard to say precisely of course but at the very least 1,000 words, possibly closer to 2,000? Anyway, with that in mind, would it be better for me to start Assimil with 'Using French' versus 'with Ease'? Or would you recommend still starting with 'with Ease'? Merci.
@FrenchCoach Thx for getting back to me. Yes, it's more A1/A2 level probably (reading and listening). I've tested at B1 on tests. If I'm listening to something French on half speed or 0.65 speed, I sometimes can do a halfway decent job of hearing.
@@gregguillot7767 okay yep sure thing. I would 100% recommend using Assimil French with Ease. Using French is more to get you from B2>C1/C2 and you will likely find it too difficult. If you go through the Assimil lessons and complete them reading & listening at the same time and then translating from English into French, you should build up a B1/B2 level in a couple of months. Once you get the book and start using it, comment here or on another one of my videos if you ever have any other questions or run into any problems. My Students always have questions when they are beginning with the book, so happy to help
@@gregguillot7767 sounds good Greg. Assimil is an excellent resource if you use it right. No reason why you can be at Intermediate level in 3-4 months from now using it correctly!
Tu as vraiment appris ta langue maternelle en 12 mois ?
I learned fluent French in 12 months just like thousands of others have also. I work with each of my Students to help them do the same. You don't think it's possible to learn French in 12 months because you have never done it before. You don't understand how to learn French from English because you have not done it before. That's okay, I don't blame you, but don't tell people they can't achieve something just because you don't have personal experience with it. Merci, Rory 👊
Absolute legend, i’m getting started today.
awesome stuff Ash. my main video "4-step strategy" video would be very useful also. let me know if you have any questions once you get rock & rolling.

@@AshBuckets23 hahaha yeah I know the feeling! Heaps of my students wasted time with either Duolingo, learning grammar or other bad stuff.
@@FrenchCoach It’s terrible i’m glad i quit🤣seen more progress using your methods today than all that time on duo🤣🤣

no problem. glad my videos are useful for you.
hey i have one question, for the Assimil book how do you know when you’re finished the lesson ,do you have to know it off by heart? hope you see this

good question Greg. Would you say your reading & listening level is more beginner (A1 & A2), or intermediate (B1 & B2)?
