Apollonia is Michael's true love. When she died, Michael's heart also died with her.

I don't think it's true, the mother of his child was, he was still trying to get back with her in the end, saying he loved her. He mourned Apolonia and what they didn't have because of her death.

He thinks about Appolonia and straight away sees his daughter with Andy Garcia and realise that with him she might have the same faith as Appolonia. This movie is a piece of art. No words needed...

Unlike Apollonia, Mary is forbidden to be with Vincent because they are cousins. She learns about Apollonia in this scene but knows she can't be like her because Vincent is pushing for something he cannot have, no matter how they both feel

    • @dh9690

Not only does she share the same fate as Apollonia she also kinda looks like her. Michael spent all 3 movies trying to protect his 2nd wife and their kids from ending up like his 1st wife and their unborn child. Only for history to repeat itself. If you look Michael has the same scream with his daughter that he had before Apollonia's car blow up.

When Michael says "I dream of my wife and children, and how I lost them", he is speaking of Apollonia and the unborn child she was carrying at the time of her death. He was not speaking about Kay.

    And my heart is burning
    What she thirsts for water
    I thirst for love
    Who will I sing
    My song to
    If there is no one
    Who shows herself

Grandfather Giovanni Rinaldi is an excellent pianist and from an early age Nino's passion for music is evident. Thanks to his mother Ernesta starts playing the piano at the age of four and composing at the age of just eight.

When Michael says "I dream of my wife and children, and how I lost them", he was speaking of his beloved Apollonia and their unborn child(ren). In the book, Apollonia was pregnant at the time of her death, a tidbit that wasn't included in the movie. Sadly, later in the movie, he did lose Anthony and Mary figuratively, and Mary permanently when she was shot on the steps of the Opera house. As far as Kay was concerned, that was a marriage of convenience, literally intended to produce an heir.

  • @TRG_real
    @TRG_real 8 ปีที่แล้ว +322

    Apollonia > Kay
Michael was living with his criminal family for 26 years. Then he left for Sicily. He met Apollonia and married her. When she died he came back and became The Godfather 2.0. Let me repeat myself. Michael wasn't turned into a lying, cheating killer in 26 years, but when Apollonia died he became just that.

Michael's weakness oddly was his love for Appolonia. Her death via vendetta brought all that anger inside and exploded as a ruthless Don who did not spare even his own brother.

Apollonia is what I think of a amazing traditional woman man I wish I could find a woman like this here 😔
Apollonia is what any good man needs and with a woman like that behind him nothing a man can’t achieve real talk... a virtuous good woman builds a home ... but a bad one tears it down

The moon is burning in the sky
And I am burning with love
    The fire that is consumed
    Like my heart
    My soul crys
    Painfully
    I'm not at peace
    What a terrible night
    The time passes
    But there is no dawn
    There is no sunshine
    If she doesn't return
    My earth is burning
    And my heart is burning
    What she thirsts for water
    I thirst for love
    Who will I sing
    My song to
    If there is no one
    Who shows herself
    On the balcony
The moon is burning in the sky
And I am burning with love
    The fire that is consumed
    Like my heart

this film is the living and real representation of the soul of us Sicilians, it was made perfectly in every single detail, which however can lead to an immense love for one's family, origins and land or in the worst case like Michele Corleone, who he turned true Sicilian passion into pure rage.

From The Godfather Part III: "Brucia la Terra" (Burns the Earth) is an authentic Sicilian ballad from the town of Corleone. It was one of Michael's particular favourites, as it reminded him of his first wife, Apollonia. It was sung by (Anthony Corleone). Franc D'Ambrosio not only had the honor of starring in the film, he also sang the Academy Award winning theme song, "Speak Softly Love" (Brucia la Terra) - both in the film and on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
Music and Lyrics by Nino Rota, Giuseppe Rinaldi.

Robert Silvestri It's also the song in the Godfather II, that after the young Vito Corleone assasinates the Black Hand extortioner whilst the Catholic parade is going on, he walks over to the steps of his wife and his kids Fredo, Santino and Michael, and the guy behind them on the steps is playing the exact song on guitar.

It's ironic really, if it was Apollonia as Don Michael's wife, he would have been much more similar to Vito as the Don. But all the same, if Apollonia didn't die, Michael would have not become the Don in the first place. It was Apollonia who Michael gave his all to, the sentiments, love, all of it, and thus when she died, most of him died with her, all that remained in him was that scorn for those who killed Apollonia and hurt his family, and all that bottled up, exploded during the event of the baptism of his sister's child, what an absolute wonderful plot twist I personally never saw coming, fell in love with the Godfather.
