    A video comparing performance at same price point would be helpful. You compared an older $2500 machine against a new $2000 machine. Kind of leads viewers to believe that the year to year improvement is more marginal than it actually is.

      The M1 family should last average user 4 years. If you bought any of the M1 Pro models, or even buy one today, you wouldn't need upgrade until Winter 2027. Also, Apple has recently realized there isn't a strong enough market value or interest in releasing annual, numeric successors to the M line. Instead, more iterations of their most current chip is what is expected. Think "M2 S," "M2 X," "M2 Ultra," etc. With that said, in 4 years, Fall 2017, we should see the release of M5 ;)

    do you understand what you are saying? this statement is flawed in either that you are completely mixing up two things, or in that you assume that most of the total time the machine is used, it's used in in heavy tasks.

  • @lol51016
    @lol51016 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Only thing I can theorize why the M1 Pro is a bit faster in real time is because the M1 Pro has 8 Performance cores that can pull more performance cores to pull more performance out of the M1 than the 6 Performance cores from the M2 pro but the M1 Pro draws more power due to only 2 efficiency cores compared to the 4 efficiency cores from the M2 Pro

    • @ellandill
      @ellandill ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's another theoritical explanation. m2 has high clocks + worse cooling = higher temperatures = throtling

    • @crisrocchi2722
      @crisrocchi2722 ปีที่แล้ว

      M2 pro has been perfectly optimized with updates and is now much faster than M1 pro, and in low power mode it is exactly like M1 pro at full power, with benefits on fans, batteries and temperature. Export speeds (h264, prores) with Final Cut Pro are about 1.3-1.6x faster. My opinion is that many TH-camrs have created an unnecessary hysteria for a few more clicks. Fortunately, however, there are serious people like Luca Miani, who compared the M1 pro 10-core and M2 pro 10-core and has demonstrated that the latter is faster and more performing in everything but at a decidedly lower price than the 10- core M1 pro.

    • @lucasmoore8558
      @lucasmoore8558 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crisrocchi2722 it depends on what you're using it for... If you're using it for music production with Ableton then you're going to want all 8 performance cores since Ableton is not optimised for Mac like logic pro is and therefore if you go for the 4 efficiency cores with the M2 they will be idling for the whole time that you're using the software. But for other tasks you'll want to go for the m2

    The model to compare is wrong. The M1Pro's 10-core CPU is a higher model (8-core =lower Model), so M2Pro should be compared to the 12-core model (10-core =lower Model). I think it's an unfair comparison to make it on fire.

      @TAdams yes you are right ! I am sorry I got confused. Trying to choose between 14" M1 pro macbook pro and the M2 pro. The single nand chip in M2 is what I have been reading up on versus the two in the M1

    • @gimax4689

      @TAdams Please allow me to ask a quick question. It will really help me make up my mind. I have been trying to choose between 14" macbook M1 pro & the new M2 pro.(base models). The M1 pro is about 300USD cheaper in my country & for my usage 16gb ram is more than sufficient. I have seen comparisons between them both but the 300$ less is a super sweet deal for me. Would you say the M2pro has something over the M1pro which justifies the 300$ jump in my case ? I would not be changing the new laptop for atleast 5-6 years(primary machine). My usage is light to medium. Photoshop/illustrator/little bit of final cut Pro/ Adobe premier pro & I don't have the budget to go beyond these two variants. Thanks !!
