we enjoyed this rail journey thank you for sharing . a few guests commented that the train stays mostly to the left side ,at some intervals the train moved onto the right side track ,also we were wondering what those large golden yellow fields were. is that tunnel the worlds longest and what does the tunnel go beneath . thank you.
The crop in those yellow fields is likely either mustard, or rapeseed; these can be grown as a cover crop to benefit the next, main crop on the land, or as a crop themselves (usually for vegetable oil).
They drive trains on the left because the original lines were built by the British. They use the correct side so, Switzerland continued on the tradition. 🏳🌈
LBOrgue I looked the town up on Google Maps and it seems that the old station wasn't anywhere near the city centre, which is probably why it was shut down. The town is still very much there, and it has bus service to a number of train stations so it's still accessible via public transit. Sometimes rail authorities made an educated guess as to where the communities they served would develop, and sometimes those guesses were wrong. It can't have helped that the town is very hilly.
Hi there. A BIG thank you for your superb videos. I don't think I can convince the wife to part with the price of a cab ride lol! So I'll keep watching! You're a top man.
What a beautiful view coming down the valley after exiting the tunnel. It is a pity that they didn't us the tunnel primarily for freight and high speed international passenger trains, and leave the regular domestic inter-city and slower international services using the old line, so people could enjoy the view, which I'd bet is one of the major reasons a lot of people travel by train.
