- Regina Carter's violin has expressed moods inspired by European classical, bebop, Afro-Cuban and Southern blues music. On her new album 'Reverse Thread,' and in this recent performance at the NPR Music offices, Carter plays traditional African melodies, re-imagined through her own jazz sensibilities.

What a phenomenal choice of instruments. I never expected to hear Kora and accordion together. Wonderful.
I did not expect the accordion and violin to be such a great pairing, never even crossed my mind to put their sounds together, but it worked, very well indeed.
This is stunning music. Remember when Regina Carter played the Paganini violin 15 years ago? Has nothing on this. This is just...beyond words.
Regina Carter is all mine. Her music is in the top tier of my music appreciation for life. May she and her loved ones be blessed with good health always ... Kevin.
This music moved me to tears, thank you Regina Carter thank you NPR wow,Im having such bad time and this lifted my spirit..
what a nice mariage between African and European musical traditions!
This is absolutely amazing. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I'm sure I have ever heard.
One of my favourite concerts on this platform 🥺❤️🙇🏾🎻
This is so beautiful
I come back and listen to this over n over again. NPR should be proud of how they produce diversity in music and show the Masters.
This reminds of when I was 16 and heard A Love Supreme for the first time. I was enraptured just as I am now
I asked too soon, just a little bit more research & I found the answer. The man playing the Kora is Yacouba Sissoko and the title of the 1st song in this video N'Teri which is found on the BEAUTIFUL sounding album called 'Reverse Thread' which also features more of the Kora
simply beautiful
You received a thumbs up as soon as the playing began! This was awesome......Thank you
I am Blessed to be able to hear such wonderful music that touches my soul with the intent to do nothing but Love
I’m grateful for this recommendation TH-cam. I was looking for cover versions of Ornette Coleman’s Peace.Found String trio of New York with Regina Carter. Beautiful blend of instruments.

¡Qué belleza!
Just saw her at the University of Hartford, she was AMAZING :)

I have her album Reverse Thread and i recommend it to anyone who likese this kind of folk music.
Dios los bendiga siempre
Hermoso ensamble de instrumentos bella música creo que le añadiría como percusión un Udu
The black dude playing the weird, but very melodic, kora as Sincerely calls it, has a rytheme in his heart 99.9% of us will never know. I'd pay for a c.d. of just him doing his own originals on that instrument!
Woww
Also search up Habib Koite on YT who has sung this song (N'Teri) . The singing also feels ethereal ! Another great master from Mali.
detroit is the best - my people: always country, always international, always people first

@cfrokid Will Holshouser on accordion and Yacouba Sissoko on kora.
first piece is called Nteri
I will be sixty years of age soon and it is as if this music has been within me for that amount of time and far more time when one sits and thinks about how music is best because of these reasons: Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. Music is the best and this example of Regina Carter proves that fact to be true. Help came to me from another friend who has passed but is having a 40 year tribute tour this year 2015 by his son, Dweezil Zappa. Via Kevin Michael Callihan, gmail: Sunday Nov. 23, 2014...sig.
Toumani Diabaté. Kora. Enough said.

Don't just look at the video. Listen to them, they give you everything. Names of musicians, names/composers of each song. Amen!!!!!!

The notes of the musical scale were created by the Africans of ancient Egypt (Kemet). All instruments in there genesis were created by our ancient African ANCESTORS. This sister has no clue that her musical talent is a gift from her African ANCESTORS.
