Am I right in saying that the range STARTS at £16.5k, for a 3 cylinder 1.0L 95bhp petrol? And you say that is "a heck of a lot of car for the money" I'd say that is over priced imo. But like most VW group products, they all tend to be over priced. Review possibly funded by VW group perhaps? reviewer gets to keep the car for bigging up Skoda??

Matthew M I was meaning about the Skoda being German when it is actually Czech. Sure, they are owned by VW Audi, but I think the brand has enough of its own look which differentiates itself enough from VW to not just be a rebadged Golf.
Practicality (read=space) and affordability (if you don't pick any extras) are the only qualities Skodas have. And for God's sake, neither Scala, nor Leon/i30/Ceed are SUVs. That designation is truly meaningless these days thanks to you reviewers pandering to marketing departments of car makers.
I love some of the Skoda's but starting to get a bit bored with the styling and notice their reliability rating is starting to fall. Seems expensive too for what it is. It's like the differences between Volkswagen and Skoda is getting smaller all the time. Skoda were the more sensible option where you paid less and got a more reliable slightly more basic car but it could still have decent driving dynamics. The review has not impressed me with this car at all to be honest and it just seems too expensive for what it is.
Have nothing against skoda, but value for money it is not. In Portugal it will be another overpriced s*#tbox, with nothing going for it. Even an entry level Focus will feel more of a car compared to this. Rear legroom will be very good, but what about everything else?...

My brother used to own an Octavia, great build quality indeed, but it was dinamically challenged, not a car that enjoyed being thrashed around in the twisties. A focus at least is great to drive, even when just cruising around. The brand is no longer good value in Portugal, there are better propositions for the money.
Skoda makes a super quality cars. Skoda's quality definitely cost more then they think. I'm a Skoda and VW fan. I drive Skoda Superb 2018. Really big nice quality for €38 000.
