Fix Zenless Zone Zero crash at the start of the game

- I think this is only happen with intelhd gpu or older gpu?
Since the game is just released, there's a chance that hoyoverse will fix this later.
Oh yah, i forgot to write this, but you can "Copy the shortcut" and paste it on your desktop. So, you don't need to go to this folder again to run the game.
Please note that this fix doesn't guarantee fix your crash.
Code if you only want to paste it after directory :
....\ZenlessZoneZero.exe -force-d3d12
Change "..." with your directory folder.
IF you still encounter crash in game. Try to do this :
At login screen, find "Gear" setting icon at right side, then go to graphics and lower everything as low as possible. Some people said that this fix the issue only temporary and they will encounter crash again after several minutes.
If this is work on you, then there's chance that causing the crash is either Vram or ram(still unknown if this true or not).

The command in the game is forcing the game to run using Directx 12. It is only shortcut, so there's no change in the file game itself. If you run the game via Hoyoplay launcher, it will run the game by default setting from hoyoverse.
Also, if the game have update patch (update that needed to download from launcher), then you can't playing using shortcut and need to update it from launcher first.
If you encounter random crash after several minutes playing using this, then this is expected. Because we forcing it to play in directx 12, the game will be unstable.
You can try to install Directx 12 and Microsoft Visual C++ from microsoft website
You can also try update your vga driver or reinstall your vga driver and see if its fixed without need to use this command.
If you have 2 gpu driver (example, Intel iGPU and Nvidia which usually in laptop), then you can try this.
Go to windows - search graphics setting - Try to find ZenlessZenZero in there - if ZenlesszenZero not showing up, go to "Browse" button and find the location of ZenlessZenZero.exe - After found, click add - back to graphics setting, choose ZenlessZenZero.exe and Click option - Change it to High performance which is usually using your main gpu
So lets talk about some problem and is it fixable or not.
-If you able to play the game and crash immidiately after you control the character, then you can go to "gear" icon at login screen and try to lower and disable everything in graphics setting. If its still crash, then sadly no fix for now.
-If you're stuck at checking resource integrity. Please check if your cpu has 4 core or not. Because based on this thread : www.reddit.com/r/ZenlessZoneZero/comments/1dto5b0/checking_resources_integrity_screen_stuck_at_0/
If your cpu has 2 core, then sadly you can't play the game and it will stuck in there. No solution yet, but someone suggest that play it in emulator and change the core at emulator setting to 3 or 4. Still don't know if this work or not.
-If the cutscene is lag, this is probably the same problem that hsr have before. You can try to disable shadow and see if its fixed or not. But, if itsn't , then you can't do anything until hoyo fix it (hsr got fixed in the next update after this happen, so expect same thing).
If everything after this and it still crash, then you're out of option, sorry but i don't have a way to fix this. The only thing is to wait the dev to fix it (if they plan to fix it, but so far no confirmation).
You can try to play at emulator for last chance. But, since most of people that has this issue are using low end hardware, then expect performance issue if you play it on emulator.

Worked from menu screen to in-game animations, It always crashes on the gameplay part though, whatever I do.

really hoping hoyo will fix this as soon as possible- though i have a doubt this issue will be fixed for me because my device is under the spec requirement for ZZZ lol. I can play hsr and hopefully I can too with ZZZ on my laptop
I'm sorry if it sounds cruel but it calms me to know that there are more people with this problem lmao, the same thing happened to me in hsr when they launched the Ruan Mei area in the space station, the game crashed every time I went there, it was solved alone a couple of weeks later, so I guess we have to wait for Hoyo to solve it
yea i had a similar problem in penacony and ruan mei area with many invisible walls and i used to crash in ruan mei area but they fixed it a couple of patches later and the game runs fine now.
also i use intel graphics which everyone who shares this problems always points out
No worries, im honestly also glad this issue wasnt just me, makes it that if theres a big amount of players having the same issue, chances are hoyo will pay attention and fix it

when I launch the game and it's on the loading screen it crashes and shows a pop-up (i forgot what it says but it has to do with a start-up crash) and i still experience this even after doing this :(
Must've done it wrong, though I recommend not doing it anymore.. You'll still crash at the gameplay part when you reach there, Best we wait for Hoyoverse to fix the issue.

Yes this is still problem to me too. Sadly, i don't know how to fix it. Someone speculate that it is because of vram/ram that too small to render the shader since its always happen when there's a lot of battle effects. But the 'real' cause still unknown.
Idk if hoyo will fix this or not.

But try this, at loading screen, find a "gear" setting icon at right side and then change everything at graphics to low as possible.
on my pc it did the opposite, now the game crashes on startup even before the hoyoverse logo is displayed :(

Keeps crashing on the loading screen 🤔.
I asked customer service and they told me about my specs and said due to ur laptop's GPU being way below minimum recommendations, that is the reason for your game not loading and most likely this isnt a bug
Yes its actually hardware problem, not bug.
If their hardware has recomended spec or atleast capable to run this game and still crash, there's a chance that they using igpu instead of their gpu or there's a corrupt file in the game.

If you did this and still not work, then there are several possible thing.
1. You're using 2 core cpu. Sadly even after doing this, some people can enter to login screen, but it will stuck at verifying resource integrity based on reddit thread on pinned comment.
2. Some people already asked hoyo if they gonna fix this. But, they just said that your device is too low. SAdly you can't do anything except Hoyo somehow have a way around this.
Even if you're using this method and able to login to the game. Sadly, you will crash at fight battle or at random interval (Depend on your cpu model and gpu).

nah they not gonna fix it, u can't play it on the intel card, i have the same problem with honkai star rail since 1.5 actually.
From the looks on it, yeah they probably won't.
But, i'm using intel hd 520 and still able to play this and hsr. HSR is smooth in lowest, the battle average at 40fps and sometime drop but not crash.
In zzz tho, i can play it, but got crashed after several minutes playing (i can say that it happen between 15 minutes or so). Not comfortable to play and decided to play on my phone instead.

@@chennruan Maybe you don't know this. HD 520 is much newer than 5500. You can see it at intel site that 5500 is released at Q4 2014 and 520 released at Q4 2015. In term of performance, hd 520 only has 15-20% advantage. But, maybe because of newer architecture, it able to run this game.

it helped but only partially. I was allowed to the menu and the first cutscene, but when I was given control of the first character, the game gave the same error and closed.
Check the pinned comment for the "potential fix". Basically, at login screen, low everything include fps as low as possible and filter to as low as possible.
If still happen, then sadly no fix for this issue for now.

Edit : with that method the game managed to open up and I got through the first few cutscenes but then the game crashed when the part where I actually play starts ;-;
this was working fine, up until i got to the new city bit where ur drivers liscence is about to expire, now it crashes regardless of which wayi open the game
Your hardware trying to render that area and can't handle it. The only thing you can try, at login screen try to low everything including shadow and fps and filter.
If its still like that, sadly you can't do anything until you login from other device and get away from that area.
Thanks to this I was able to enter the game, but when it starts playing it crashes again
when at Login screen, try to find "Gear" icon and try lower everything and disable anything on the "Graphics" setting.
If that's not work, then sadly you can't do anything about it. You need to wait hoyoverse to fix the game via update patch (if they plan to, but so far no confirmation that they will fix it. But, lets hope they did.)
