Ive witnessed first hand that male cats can have that parental instinct too. I used to foster kittens for a local shelter. My male cat used to be hostile around new kittens when I first bring them home- but later he becomes so loving and protective with them, including grooming them. And then when it's time to go home to the shelter he will go sniffing around the place the kittens slept and find that they're not there, and come to me meowing in panic . 🥲 I stopped fostering after that, too traumatic for him
He's a very good dad🥰....normally a cat family is just with mama. The cat male does not partecipate at the education of the puppies.... Sorry for my English....
He was like, "It's so to early for me to be here..." when his human lifted him on the bed. But yeah, he did a good job of not being slapped by the momma cat for existing near her kittens.

I'm no expert, but I believe the father cat simply wanted to avoid alarming the mother cat. Usually, male cats don't take part in raising their kitten; if I recall correctly, female cats may stay in a group to raise their kittens together. Female cats are very protective of their kittens, and they may even hiss away the father cat. Well, these cats seem to live in the same house, so the mother cat likely feels safe around him, tho she still seemed a bit nervous near the beginning. The father cat was moved near the kittens, but he either tried to not scare the mother cat by showing little interest in the kittens or just actually had no interest in them. If he were less familiar with the mother cat (as in if they didn't live together), it's possible he'd avoid the kittens as the mother cat could act more hostile due to her protectiveness. It’s funny that the mother cat is still being protective even though it’s clear to see that he couldn’t care any less about the wobbly strange things on the bed and even seems indifferent towards the kittens’ existence. In fact, while mama cat looks like her anxiety is increasing and seems on edge, he looks extremely bored and even annoyed 😂
He isn't a calico. He is a seal point bicolor. His point markings on the body are just pretty dark, but of course they are even darker on the head, plus the white markings add to the effect of him looking like a calico. I also got confused at first when I saw the thumbnail. And yes, male calicos are indeed sterile, they have two X chromosomes and one Y, which is an intersex condition and prevents them from reproducing.
The dad is trying his best but is definitely somewhat anxious, trying really hard to appear as non-aggressive as possible. His flat ears give it away though
@@notgreatgale This one isn't a calico at all though. I thought at first he was too, but its clear (especially the back view) he's got some sort of Ragdoll or Burmese type markings with white.

Now that was as charming a family tableaux as ever you saw one.
The dad was like "um okay... this little guy is getting closer so I'm just going to sit and chill" lol
That makes sense. In nature, the father cats have zero role. There's really no evolutionary reflex for their interest or involvement.
He lays down and is like ohhh they just babies haha
Yup they your especially that 1st one look just like you Dad 😹
So sweet! Dad looks like: "Did I do that?" And mama kitty is keeping him in line. 😻🐾😺 ❤
So rare to see a male calico! Such a beautiful bundle of fluffies!
Male calicos are sterile, so either that is one in a million, or is not the father.
@@jovalleau Oooooo scandalous kitty drama! Those babies aren't even mine!
@@adrianaheiler9794 cool!
I was wondering about that. He's a big lad, much bigger than mum.
Omg its like there greeting each other at the beginning of the video. How proud and protective he is of his babies 😊
Dad cat:(Smells kittens) yeah, Definitely mine😅
In the last 10-15 secs, I keep seeing the Dad’s tail tapping the kittens. 😂😂😂
What a cute family. Dad is relaxed and content with head rubs while mom is nursing and protecting the kiddos. 😊
Not the dad. It's a Calico cat. "Dad" is female
The dad is trying his best but is definitely somewhat anxious, trying really hard to appear as non-aggressive as possible. His flat ears give it away though
@@gracehaven5459 calico male cats can exist, this particular one either has to be a chimera or a rarer sterile XXY but it's not impossible!
@@gracehaven5459 i thought he was a calico too, but he appears to have Ragdoll or Burmese markings, not calico.
@@notgreatgale This one isn't a calico at all though. I thought at first he was too, but its clear (especially the back view) he's got some sort of Ragdoll or Burmese type markings with white.
What a sweetest family. ❤️
