If a spot isn't productive in about an hour, then I say move on, so good choice leaving after no bites. Another tip is to chum when you first get there if using bait in the harbor. Then while you spend the 5 or 10 minutes setting up, tue the fish will begin to congregate (hopefully) right where you will be fishing. Oftentimes the sounds of the smaller fish feeding attracts the bigger fish nearby.
You can keep the fish in both spots as long as they are of legal size. Most of the time there isn't much worth keeping. LOL Almost always under size. If you want to keep something you can go for perches.
Bad idea to rinse in salt. Wait till you get home and rinse in regular tap water. Better is to spray with water bottle to not force salt or debris into the reel then wipe with soft cloth. I actually use ceramic car spray on my reels. 😊

Thanks for the tip.
Disagree about the hour time. I fished the same spot from 6-8 and nothing. At 8:30 - 9:30 landed 8 fish.
The 1st spot you fished at sucks. You get snagged a lot.
Awesome video brother 🤙
Thanks 👍
Thanks
what was the tide looking like when you caught those two at newport? I've been to that area at high tide but had no luck
If I remember correctly, it was about three hours before high tide (peak). I believe it was also an incoming tide.
thay small fish is called a Salema. ive heard some people use it as bait
Thanks. I thought of using it as bait, but wasn't sure. So I let it go.
Have you gone to cabrillo beach? I'm thinking of going this weekend.
I live in Pedro but have never fished the waters..any good action there?
@@caliraisedexotics it's OK
What were u using
I threw the Hookup bait for a while in the morning. Then switched to a Keitech 3.8.
Is this spot only carch n release?
The first spot, maybe. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
There’s a size limit to most ocean fish.

@@SweetaccordSorry, I worded that wrong. I meant to say that I rinse my gear in fresh water after each trip when I fish saltwater.
@@socal_outdoors OH! That's much better! 👍
