Those knots you are getting are wind knots. There are various reasons that may cause wind knots but typically braid is the best option for spinning reels(IMO) compared to fluoro or mono since it has no memory. Wind knots occur during the cast as the line leaves the spool it will catch loose lines on the reel pulling it out and causing tangles. The dropshot technique you use as you jig the rod up and down tends to lay line on the spool with slack. I use this technique often myself and find it best to jig then reel in the slack but avoid doing them at the same time though. Some other things that can cause wind knots are overfilling the spool, improper line lay, and not closing the bail manually after casting. Great video!
@@michaels2569 Thanks a lot, I appreciate you watching and all the helpful tips. Yeah my spool had too much line on it but it hasn’t happened much since I took some of the line off 🙌🏾
Got three days in San Clemente this weekend. Just saw it was a croaker tourney in Oceanside last week. Hoping to snag a few. It at least halibut or perch. Thank you for this video. I know what to rig for
Appreciate the video. Great footage as always. Keep getting out there and keep filming for us. Love watching your stuff, pay no mind to the haters out there eating processed food at McDonald’s every day saying there might be mercury in that fish. Meanwhile, they’re eating stuff they have no clue of what’s inside of it, at least we know what we eating when we catch a fish.
Just stumbled onto the channel. I always wondered about this fluke bait on the jig head like that. Great video as always! I catch a lot of croakers on the Carolina rig down there, but I’ve never tried the drop shot before. Will pyramid sinkers work as well as torpedos? I’d like to catch a halibut on one like you do! Keep slaying! 😎🤙🍻
@@angling31 Thanks a lot and I prefer torpedo weights for the drop shot set up bcuz they drag better on the sandy bottom. If you’re using bait then the pyramid weight might be more ideal, just my opinion. Tight lines!

@@elbluedemon2575 I’m not an expert when it comes to reels and/or rods but a 4000 for “SoCal” surf fishing might be a little on the heavy side, especially when fishing for hours.
