Good info Doc, but I ride a 1998 heritage springer. No emissions, no fuel injection, no sensors. 24 years, 51,000 miles no problems. Change the fluids, change the tires, keep on going.

Dang..... thanks for the heads up Doc!!! I was thinking about removing the cat off my wife's 2018 Tri Glide to help with the heat BUT now I'll need to re-think that. Hope you are doing well!!!!
If you live in a free state, just order an aftermarket head pipe. No cat inside. If something occurs, just throw the stock head pipe back on, and your good. I just gut the cat from out of my stock head pipe. No cutting into the pipe, cause that would be an instant red flag with the obvious welds. I’m in Texas, so my Harley dealership said just not to cut into the pipe, and we are golden. My 2021 road glide runs damn good without it.

Thanks for the information, you have a great way of saying things we all can understand. I have a question, I live in North Dakota and my bike is stored 7 months during winter, I was wondering when a bike sits that long should a person pull the spark plugs and disconnect the wires going to the throttle body and crank engine over 10 seconds at a time and around 5 times to get oil pumped threw the engine before starting. Thanks
I like your Old School thinking. I agree with the spark plugs removed. Hopefully you have had the battery disconnected and on a battery tender over the 7 months. When you are ready, remove spark plugs only, connect up battery and push the starter button for 15 seconds. watch the oil light indicator. If it does not go out, wait 15 seconds and repeat until the light goes out. When the light goes out oil is where it needs to be to start.
You did not mention what year your bike is. Make sure oil is on the dip stick before starting this. Dont add more than a quart. some will be in the cases....Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Thank you, I ride a 2016 SGS and my Wife rides a 2015 Switch Back which we bought new, I do all our own maintenance, I do remove Batteries and have them connected to Tenders, in the past I have started them every other month, this year was different and wasn’t able to start as often, Thank you, I will do that and yes I am very old school, whatever I buy I want to last a life time, that is why I love you channel and tell anyone that needs advice to check out your Channel, BEST ADVICE EVERY. I was wondering about pulling in the clutch at a stop light and leaving it pulled in for a minute or so. Does this practice heat up the clutch alot or make it so you have to adjust your clutch more often? I have the habit of putting the bike in neutral sometimes, but I know I shouldn't because of a car not stopping that is coming up from behind me. Thank You!!
I do the same while pumping my front brake to let the car behind me know I AM HERE! No this does not heat up the clutch, in fact it probably cools it. Yes it might stretch your clutch cable a little more but not that you and I would know. Keep doing what makes you comfortable out there on the road....Doc
Would installing a vented transmission top cover to relieve crankcase pressure void a factory warranty? I purchased one after I had the SE122 kit ,but I havent installed it yet. Currently the bike is in for a replacement oil cooler as the stock one failed at 190 miles. Zero miles on the engine since the stage 3 install. The build was done over the winter, it just started leaking oil sitting in my heated garage.
Your question is worth a phone call to Harley-Davidson customer Service. They can answer that question.....Doc
Hi Doc, I had an auto chain tensioner put on my 05 wide glide at the dealer last year. Now it is leaking oil around the inspection cover. Is this an easy fix, should I just torque the screws down? Do you know the torque setting? Thank you.

Thanks for to Info on starting your bike after winter storage. I have another question, I have a 2016 SGS that I bought new, at 1500 miles I had HD installation Tire Shredder Big Bore Kit, I now have 23000 miles, I’m taking it in to HD to have them install a HD Screaming Eagle Cam Plate, I also would like a few more ponies, they suggested to put in a set of T-Man 580 Cams, what do you think? I so much trust your opinion. Thanks
I agree if you want more and willing to give up a little down low, the aftermarket cam makers off a good selection of cams. T-man, Cycle-Rama,Bob Wood and Star Racing are a few I have used. Call each of these and ask them about their cams and what they suggest. My next question is What tuner are you using and what Expert Tuner has tuned before. A new Cam is only as good as the Tuner....Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Thanks for the information, I have a Screaming Eagle Super Tuner Pro (orange in color) installed now, I have been told the Power Vision Tune is a better tune, Then I figured why not install bigger Cams but also reliability is important, The HD shop is a well known shop does great work.
Stick with Screaming Eagle performance parts and you'll never have an issue
Hi Doc, I have a 202 Ultra Classic. I can be riding along and my check engine and battery light comes on and my voltage drops to 10-11 this usually lasts for a short time then my voltage goes up to 14-15 and the lights go off. I have taken it to my H-D dealership and they found nothing. I have tried to find a diagnostic code use the trip button. I’m puzzled, could this be caused by a loose connection. I have checked my battery torque, it’s ok. I Enjoy the videos. Thank you
Oh the bike still keeps running when this is happening.
HD offers here in Austria / Europe equipment to modify your bike. Most of them have a E (Euroean permission) confirmation. Means, these parts are legal and do not affect the HD warrenty. Any other parts, with no E confirmation, are illegal and you will have trouble at a technical check carried out by the police.
AND it will also have a negative influence on your bike's warrenty.
The best thing to do is, speak to your dealer before buying any equipment to be on the save side.
Then the dealers are also quiet helpful in case of a warrenty claim, because they want satisfied customers.

My 2015 street 750 's manual say that it has 3.0 liters of engine oil capacity but when i fill 3.0 liters the dip stick shows the oil level just below the "X" mark when it is cold. Should i need to add more oil or is it at proper level ?
Swing by your dealer and have them check the level...Doc
Hey doc out of topic question but I want to know why a stock 96ci can’t be upgraded to 110ci whereas it can be done on a 103ci because 96ci can only be upgraded up till 103ci and not 110ci ?
The only reason I can think of is HD never designed mapping for such an upgrade....Doc
Hey Doc, I ride a 2016 TriGlide, I love my bike, but it burns my calf pretty bad when I ride. I heard that if I remove the Cat or put Vanes and Hines pipes on the bike it will fix the problem. Is this true? Thanks for the help.

Doc, my Son bought me a 08 FLHTC with 6000 mi on it. I’m just over 8 now. I work all the time. I’m a Auto Technician with over 30 yrs experience so I’ll do what I can myself. My problem is my bike doesn’t have factory Cruise control. My owners manual says it was a option. I saw a kit on the HD website but now can’t find it. Can you help me any? I know sometimes stuff on cars are disconnected but some dealerships will have one on the shelf somewhere. Thanks Ken

Doc do recommend a chemical clean for possible carbon build up I run a trask breather and catchcan now m8 has 7k on it it's a 2018
Harley-Davidson does not endorse any Chemical Cleaning products to put In the motor, primary and transmission....Doc
Hey Doc, I don't know if you _can_ or if you _would,_ but if it's permissible given your being an employee at a Harley dealer, could you perhaps give us your thoughts on the new Harley warranty right-to-repair debacle?
It's clear it benefits the customer, and it is understandable if your hands are tied on the matter in regards to speaking about it.
I will give some thoughts on the subject. My first concern is putting an aftermarket part that does not meet HD specs but fits the customer's wallet and is expected to cover other parts that it damages put on by someone who did not invest in the education , tools or manuals. I am for customer's to have the right to choose this path...Doc
hey doc, i just got a FXLRS 2020 from Harley, it had a few thousand miles on it before i got her! I'm experiencing bar wobble from the front? any idea what it could be?
Please take it to your local dealer and have them check several items. such as Rider is keeping both hands on the bars, front end side to side adjustment, correct tire pressure, tire wear and more.....Doc

Nice information but…….how many people still have a “stock” Harley Davidson out there? Mine is 5 months old and it’s anything but “stock”. Nothing SE either 🤷🏻♂️.

As of section 2 paragraph 1 of my book on my 2006 Softail. When the government and or the EPA starts paying my bills then I will put back the oil breather back into the throttle body. Until then I will keep my catch can on my 2006 Softail and tell the EPA and or the government and all branches to go to hell !

So everyone wanting and having 'that Harley sound' ain't truly green. Suggest from many FB group posts I've seen that this only matters if you care about green and/or you live in States that strictly police this kind of stuff.
There are a few EPA friendly exhausts, the Screamin Eagle stuff, S&S makes some EPA friendly stuff too... not sure who else does.
EPA = emissions warranty?
Warranted to meet EPA standards etc. etc.

only one thing i think you should have covered as your former Warranty administrator, that changing parts to non-approved none harley parts can VOID the Powertrain warranty which includes many of these parts !!
Such as non Harley slip on pipes
@@dwheeler016 it will depend on the slip-on, what causes the Flag is your ECM, if it picks up a change it doesn't like it will mark a flag inside the ECM, then when you go to your dealer to have your bike serviced and they plug it into the Digital Tech II if there is a flag in the ECM it will automatically download to the Computer which will automatically send the flag to a computer in Wisconsin and poof powertrain warranty voided.

Hi Doc, your videos are outstanding. I know you're not in California, but can you shed some light on the status/pending approval of the Stage 1 components for 2021 California models.
Check with your local dealers in California. They receive information before us...Doc
i just called a local dealer who seems to be very knowledgeable about this issue and they still have no notification of CARB approving the stage 1 tune.
