Sailor Moon and Harry Potter were very popular ips during the 90s and early 2000s.Metazoo was tied to nothing.Sailor Moon was tied to tv shows, video games and Manga.Harry Potter was tied to books, movies, video games and toys.Metazoo was based around mostly hype and investor bros.Sailor moon and Harry Potter actually had real fans and still have fans to this day. The Metazoo X Kuromi isn't going to go up in price because Metazoo was never really popular .Only a very niche group of people actually liked the Pokemon ripoff.Metazoo's art looks like it was drawn by third graders.
completely agree. this will be dead and no further growth. not long to really establish itself nostalgic wise. literally not enough history
What's left of the MetaZoo community is devastated. Some people really liked it me included, got me back into pokemon guess theres that.
I think you may be overestimating how many people have even heard about Metazoo. It was a small kickstarter company flash in the pan that never went national. Years down the road, not sure who will want it.
I don't think it's fair to compare Metazoo to the likes of Harry Potter and Sailor Moon. It's not just the fact nobody played Metazoo. Metazoo was a brand new IP (there aren't manga, books, TV shows, etc.) that lasted three years and couldn't become a household name. It was a predatory product trying to ride the TCG hype train during the pandemic. I really don't see Metazoo retaining any value. The only ones who would buy these would be a minimal amount of niche collectors who liked Metazoo. With the current supply, it would take YEARS to create that kind of demand if it would even exist (Collectors could stockpile right now when the price dumps instead of buying them overpriced later on). The only Metazoo product that would retain some value (perhaps increase) would be the Hello Kitty collaboration since that product involves a well-known IP and would become a rare collector product for Hello Kitty fans (mainly in Japan).
If someone buys the IP and revives the game in a few years, this classic era of metazoo product could be seen as treasure. No point selling now, might as well hold

i have never been a fan of metazoo as their design is pretty ugly but do not write off MZ yet. There's no telling what can happen in the future. In the world of TCG, there are a lot of surprises

exactly. say you have 20 boosters worth $35 each, it's $700. that's nothing in today's economy. Put the stuff in storage for 10 years and maybe those are worth $1,500 each. You never know.
there was a point not so long ago you could get pokemon 1st edition boxes for a few grand. now those same boxes are tens of thousands

Just bought a 1st edition kickstarter, but I’m a collector not an investor and metazoo will always be tied to the covid boom. I think there’s opportunity long term with it

yes, I didn't invest either with metazoo ( with all upcoming tcg, i might invest more in one piece and some for lorcana ( i don't know yet about lorcana in asia or global promotion but i am hopeful). Please continue cp with this kind of content ( investor side)
