    These guys are very artistic and the work always looks great upon completion: HOWEVER,
    I’m sorry to say that after 2-4 years the work starts to fall apart. These areas are prone to heavy bouts of rain, monsoons etc. Water is good for most concrete because it helps it cure but they are using mortar / sand mix at varying mixes. This is what happens when you make small batches of product to work with.
    Anyway, the trim areas are the first to fall off, next the window sill buildups. This type of construction is not flashed or water resistant and the water just beats it to all hell.
    If they used a molded method that used a more uniform mix of mortar to sand ratio and the addition of metal mesh, the construction would have a MUCH LONGER life span.
    But I give these guys credit for making a bucket of muck into a useful product and doing it in such a beautiful way. They are Artist first, and builders 2nd or even 3rd.
    Great to watch though.
    Try that method in New England and it would be off the wall after the first frost and ice storm. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

      Guys had a pair of flip flops and three tools. They're better builders than us combined!! (and I'm a welder! LOL!) Sad to see mad skills coupled with no resources but what do we know? These cats could see insane storms so regularly that even trying is a moot point. Kind of like trailer parks that are still are in tornado alley!! 😂✌🍻

      @@christopherwilson2406 Most masons work with primitive hand tools (I was a mason for years), the commenter is just rightfully acknowledging that their mix is shitty. The pitty looking shit that he threw on there was a shitty mix which he covered up with different mix to finish it off. If mixed right there is no need for doing that as you just work the crème to the surface for finishing. There is only two ways of looking at this, either he knows about mortar and wants more repeat customers or he knows nothing and simply relying on his artistic ability... as any honest mason will tell you that this isn't going to last as long as it should.

      @@510Redneck you're totally right, but I thought that shitty mix was a given. It obviously doesn't last.... and there is room for improvement definitely cause there's a science involved. And they may meet have access to whatever would make this right. That's why I say help them!!

    • @kayz-art
      @kayz-art 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@genooneg7813 Why keep up a skill that isn't required because there are easier ways to do it with better results? (And to be honest, it's not that advanced.... you can see he does it often and because of that he works fast without doing much measurements since they're in his head already. But besides not having this routine I'd have no problem whatsoever to make something similar if I wanted and I'm certainly not a highly trained craftsman...).

    • @genooneg7813
      @genooneg7813 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kayz-art I agree with you on that and am not at all in any disagreement with you on your question in that case. Well maybe I can can get my point I am trying get across so that you may better understand what I am trying to say. I respect your opinion on what you said and yes I agree it is much easier and faster more efficient and will come out perfectly every time if done correctly. What I am trying to say is it is pretty cheap and inexpensive for me to go the route that you have to offer to bypass the challenge of my self having to dedicate a lot of my time and attention to learning such a meticulous craft and skill set. Just to be able to be able to make it and do it on my own with out using any skill in a craft that would have been quite a while to take in order to master. But not everyone has the opportunity to be fortunate and capable of purchasing such a mold especially in undeveloped 3rd world like countries. Or individuals who live in secluded villages and do not have the money or even in some cases technology to obtain such a ingenious device to lighten up there work load through days of work. And then you also have the old dogs that even though it is easier and smarter and faster and more obvious way that is the most effective and efficient way to do that work. They still prefer to do it the old Master of his crafts way to retain the skill. Because God forbid one day when EVERYTHING hits a complete crash and the world goes into a new dark age reboot of having to relearn all the knowledge and technology that once was. They are still able to build by hand with the knowledge that they have of a master level skill in a craft that is more than likely be in high demand.

    • @kayz-art
      @kayz-art 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@genooneg7813 thing is.... if you make one of those perfect you can then get some liquid silicone and plaster which isn't that expensive at all and voila: you can make your own mold. It's no high-tech solution or ingenious device at all and it isn't very expensive. They could do much more work and earn themselves more money which they can use to make even more molds.
      Btw, if everything would crash like you say I'm pretty sure these guys are still out of a job because I'm pretty sure they don't produce their own concrete 😉

    It's a great looking window and this guy is extremely talented. However, I did not see him adding any metal reinforcement to the concrete. So it will likely collapse very quickly. Personally I think you should have poured the first layer and then added a metal frame around at least the outer section; preferably also adding metal rods to the inner segments. That should strenghten the concrete and make it way more resistant and durable.
    Unless you did not add any metal reinforcement intentionally so that your customers are forced to buy new ones from you every few years. Over here almost all our concrete building materials (to my knowledge) have metal reinforcements inside them so that they can last for decades. This window likely wouldn't last very long; especially when exposed to the elements.
    Still, the person making these is extremely talented to create something like this with minimal tools.
