    Here i'll crop an image into a shape. Any Shape. You can delete the background if you'd like...i'll show you it all! Also, this will NOT include a clipping mask because they just confuse me.

    I was so happy when I found your video. Now I’m screaming because I’m following all the directions you listed but when I get to the tap the shape layer and tap select as soon as I touch the layer below it (the actual layer cutout I want to copy) my select tool is no longer highlighted. So when I three finger swipe down and duplicate it just copies the entire layer not the shape I created. Please help

      You probably have some option on in your select tool settings

  • @pattyoreilly869

    Way too fast. I'm lost at lowering the opacity. Can't find that under layers. Couldn't see what you did to combine layers and duplicate layers. Gave up and will look for something more step by step.

    To Farraday and Dave, if working at 300 dpi a four inch circle would be 1200 pixels wide. If you make a circle then tap transform tool, you’ll get a box with dots at corner. When you tap top right dot the dialogue box pops up with a place to insert the dimensions you need

    Thank you soooo much for this video, Dave! 🙏☺️ 🌟I did struggle with it as some others did, where it was duplicating my whole layer instead of the selection. @kayla mh pointed out that when you’ve hit the selection tool, to be sure the colour fill icon at bottom right is turned off. When I did that, it finally worked!👍👍👍

    I can’t get past step one. It keeps saying there’s nothing on that later. So I can’t even make a selection

    • @drugfreedave
      @drugfreedave  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the new blank layer, I make am elipse with the selection tool, then fill it white. You shouldn't get the warning because all we've done is filled a white circle on that layer and lowered the opacity. What were you trying to do when it said the layer was empty? Don't hit "select" on the layer, just use the "selection tool" up top to make a circle. 👍🏾

  • @farradaycustomcreations5295

    Hi if making a circle around an image is there a way to see how big the circle is? For example I’m trying to make coasters with images but i need the circle to be 4 inches is there somewhere i can hover to get the measurements?

    • @drugfreedave
      @drugfreedave  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm 🤔 I know there is some sort of measuring table that comes up with the selection tool now, but I don't use it much. Unfortunately I'm not sure, I'd peibably make the circles and then fit them after the fact. Sorry I can't be more help!

      hi, idk if you were able to figure this out. I was struggling for a while too, when you select the circle, make sure the color fill button is not highlighted. After, you should be able to select the aart and have it cut into the shape.

    • @drugfreedave
      @drugfreedave  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm.. are you sure it's deselecting? I know you can adjust the opacity of the election mask... I'm not sure why it would deselect 🤔🤔

    • @andreabolldorf675
      @andreabolldorf675 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      same here. Opacity is down, I select that circle, the blue thingy on top is highlight. But when I open the layers panel to hide circle and select the shape to be copied, the circle gets deselected the moment I touch the layer panel.
      Such a nice tutorial and my procreate (5.2.3) refuses to work nicely :(
