Amazing video…your voice and explanations are fantastic…you showed us numerous techniques in one video….thank you…keep these videos coming much appreciated
Awesome. I mainly make collages and just use a hard tip eraser to cut out. Will try this technique, thanks! Would be great if procreate add in some auto detect/cut out options
You can also select “copy and paste” in that original tool and it jumps the piece to a new layer itself and then you can delete the background layer. Just another way.
Now you can extract yourself from a photo automatically with a simple press and drop it in procreate. An amazing feature that saves time! I think it’s only possible with the pro iPads that have a M processor though.
Thank you for this, really helpful for newbie in procreate. Just a quick question. How come there's layer tab under Gaussian Blur when you click it? I can't see layer tab when I click Gaussian blur.
This tool has changed since recording and it used to be two separate options in the menu. Now you can change between brush or layer after you select the blur option 😀
With a mask you can show and hide using white and black. White to show, black to hide. Carry on with the selection and masking. Then use them online brush under calligraphy to paint stuff back in, or remove even more 😌
Hi Finally I found this is what I need. But I didn't get any dotting after I selected Freehand, and didn't solve this after trying many times, would you tell what I was wrong, thanks!
Hey 👋 feel free to message me on Instagram and take some photos of your screen when you attempt to complete the screen. It hard to know where you are without them ☺️
Thank you for the video! So on your example, you drew your outline around one big subject, but what do you do if you have multiple objects to go around on one layer? I was trying to do your method with an image that had lettering on a colored background. It also included another shape with an animal silhouette on that image. So lots of small pieces, and I wanted to erase all of the negative space. How would I do that? Thank you 😊
Hey 👋 once you close the first selection, start your next selection straight away and you can cut out multiple selections in one go. Note when you create the first section you don’t need to do anything else other than draw straight away with your next shape. Hope that helps 😃
Very nice tutorial! I am curious about the selection tool process. Once you've made your outline with the freehand selection, could you have then hit invert, and then clear? That would then get rid of the background. If I'm wrong just ignore me haha :p
Question, how do you UNDO a line you created? As I was tapping looks like it detected my finger upon trying to move photo and it created the line to where I didn't want it to go....basically how do you undo a touch of the pencil without removing all the work you did? Thank you!
If you make a false touch somewhere tapp with two fingers. It will undo that last full movement you did so be sure to draw around it in small stages, that way you can do a two finger tap and undo the small section at a time :)
When I begin making the dots I notice yours look like marching ants, mine do not and when I finish I don't get the background lines. What's up with that?
Hi Joel. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I learned so much, but I have one problem. I get as far as removing the background, have the screen split diagonally with the two colours but when I try to use Gaussian blur to blend those 2 background colours, it also blends the picture as well. What am I doing wrong? I have Procreate version 5.2.5. Please help me Joel. 😊
@@JoelCreate I think I know now what went wrong. I had decided not to follow you when it came to doing the white outline and the drop shadow, so I lost track of the fact that your background really was on a separate layer. I placed the background on a separate layer and successfully used the Gaussian blur. I then pulled the back ground layer underneath the other layers and pinched them together. It came out perfectly. I am so impressed with how quickly you answered me Joel. This is paramount for folks to experience success on channels. When you see that some teachers have not answered questions for months and months and sometimes years, you don’t even want to subscribe and join. You have done so well and I have learned so much. Keep it up, Joel!! 😊
@@JoelCreate it’s like sometimes things work and then they don’t. I had a heck of a time getting the selection tool to work. I would get it started and the the tool would click off. This happened numerous times. Not sure what I was touching to make that happen!
i did it perfect the first time but the second time it didnt work when i go around and click on the circle then everything on the inside of line is selected nor outside. Could someone help
Hi Joel! great tutorial, very simple and easy, I did all what you explained in several images but it worked only in one of them, I still have the problem with the others images I tried to remove a white background of images in order to print the images on a black t-shirt but still every time that I tried upload the new images on the website it appears the white background :( any idea what I'm doing wrong??!! Thank you for any help. Xina
This was quick help when I needed it. You've proven yourself worth a subscription. lol.

this is so awesome!! thank you for helping to kick start my procreate journey on my preloved ipad pro 2018!

Thank you. I enjoyed the feather/white border trick.

@@JoelCreate i got it. Thank you.
What do you do if you make a mistake and draw in or out of an area you don’t want to? Do you have to start the whole process over with outlining?
With a mask you can show and hide using white and black. White to show, black to hide.
Carry on with the selection and masking. Then use them online brush under calligraphy to paint stuff back in, or remove even more 😌

superb
Is there a back button? Like if I mess up and my line goes across the page how to I undo ?
Tap with two fingers 😀
When I begin making the dots I notice yours look like marching ants, mine do not and when I finish I don't get the background lines. What's up with that?
im not sure off of the top of my head to be honest. Did you manage to work it out?

feel free to drop me a private message on instgram with photos to help solve the problem :D nothing springs to mind straight away
Awesome Bro!!!
Thanks ✌️

I did the selection using freehand but I didn’t get the diagonal lines and the mask came out just white. What am I doing wtong
I believe you have colour fill on. When you make the selection, make sure to turn it off from the menu at the bottom

thx a lot ♥

what if you mess up the free hand?? theres no undo for it :(
Would be a retry in that scenario 😀
Can you explain how alpha lock actually work?
When you turn it on, you can only draw on top of any pixels on that layer
I somehow cant do this Im making black marks from pencil
I’ve done this before but never thought about doing mask, much easier than the way I do it, thank you Joel 👏

Drop me a message on Instagram with some videos of the images it’s not working for 😀
There has to be a better way to do a stroke in procreate. 😩
they need an automatic way to do this, its 2024
I’m new to your channel (keep up the good work!) but i was only looking on YT yesterday to find out how to do this. How ironic haha
Very useful tutorial! Thanks
