As a duck call maker from south Mississippi - Thank You!! I love to see someone making the most of their timber and making a small business out of it. Go hobbyists :)
hey,,I have only recently learned about burl. I have one big grand pappy just sitting in the yard, a year now!! it is some type of maple, but the grain is different everywhere. I haven't cut into it, only because I have no saw big enough lol, so it's a shame It is just here, it's getting dry, but it is big enough if I wanted to maybe make smaller things, any way thank u for the video!! sure wish there were a wood or burl professional here in Alabama lol
Hi,I have a question regarding the processing of a maple burl I have . It is in the 15 in range and is still green. I am wanting to process it for knife scales or knife handle blocks 4 in sq. x 6 in long. I have searched TH-cam and have came up with very little information. I am hoping you can help me in this process.. Thanks in advance.. Martin M&S Blades
Hi. I do get some nice wood here is SA from my neighbours when they cut unwanted trees, but with our hot weather the wood dries out very fast and cracks badly, can you help me with this problem. Will your product work to slow the process, and if i have a stump do i paint both sides? Kind regards.
+GIDO74 , You should cut in the winter when there is less sap. Our end grain sealer will work to slow cracking. You should paint any end grain that is exposed. More sealant is better than less. Try to keep the wood in a cool place out of the sun.
We have used Anchor Seal and it works great. These days we use "End grain Sealer" K-7002 From Walker Industries in Milwaukie OR. It's local and more affordable.
