If you want a long lived healthy Dane, you need to find a breeder that is less concerned with looks and more concerned by health and temperament. My great Dane is 10, healthy and alert. Hasn't really changed since he was 3 years old. He is a bit slower, but still the same. His breeder wanted healthy dogs. So he is a little lanky, not enormously tall or thick, and his one eye is half blue and half brown, but he is as strong as a horse. I asked the breeder what qualities she was trying to breed and she replied, long life and good health, as well as temperament. My Dane is a registered full blood Great Dane that wasn't $3000, he was $500 and he is an amazing animal and an awesome companion. Show dogs are the right dog for very few people.
Gaius Caligula, I lost my first one to bloat at 8 years of age. He was kind of a rescue (belong to a friend that couldn't support him no more). My girl, now very old, is a rescue. She's with me for 7 years, I don't know her age. I never wanted a GD. They have health issues, they are too sweet, they broke our hearts. But I'm a giant dogs person and shit happens to me 😂😂😂. I was so devasted with my Anúbis death that I bought a Caucasian Ovcharka, the mean killing machine and the opposite of a GD.
Me too!!! I am celebrating Twilight turning nine years old today but doubt she will be here for another birthday as I can see she is an old lady already
I rescued a 2 year old male Dane , I'm sure he knows he's been rescued, he's constantly by my side , it truly is amazing to feel so much love from an animal. This big baby is truly my shadow and I love every second of it. These dogs are a blessing.
I lost my Great Dane Hemi at 10 years one week old he was the absolute BEST. A few weeks after his passing someone posted on a local page they had to find a home for their 12 year old Great Dane or put her down. I took her in and she's the sweetest girl ever Great Danes are the most loving dogs ever!!
I work in a bar in The UK and one of the customers that comes in brings his 12 year old Great Dane!! I didn't believe him so he brought the papers in to prove it to me and sure enough the dog was born in 2005. Never heard of a Great Dane living anywhere near as long as that.
@@thejohn6614 no, my dad has had 32 Danes throughout his life and the oldest just died recently at 8, 2 months from 9. You are lucky to have to have them live to 13
I thought in Europe, if you were capable of communicating your order and paying for it, they serve you. Nobody requires a picture ID proving your over 21. They let the dog in the bar, but he/she needs proof of age? LOL I'm kidding around! Before I die, I want to visit Europe. UK sounds easiest since I can speak the language ;)
I have had my Great Dane for over 2 years now. I have had a chow chow, golden retriever, Labrador (one black one yellow) and this Great Dane by far I have bonded with in a different and unique way that I ever have with any other dog I have ever had. He’s brindle with a bright copper coloring. I want him to live as long as possible so I make his food daily. He has a right eye and in the sun he’s extremely majestic looking. My chow chow lived 18 long years. My lab needed a total hip replacement which cost 7k. The saddest thing is I know he has a shorter lifespan but a great day will forever be in my home from now on. Those of us who have had the pleasure of owning these big loving softies totally understand. I thought everything opposite of this breed until I got one. I selfishly choose my dog because he was the best looking pup I have ever seen but now there is so much more he has taught me about the breed.
We have a black lab and she needed a companion. We were offered a blue American Staffy and took him, only to realise very quickly he was a Beautiful blue Great Dane. He’s grown so big so quick! I didn’t know a thing about them until he came along. Biggest and best blessing ever. I’ve grown up with all kinds of dogs and he is by far the most incredible breed. Besides the chewing, he’s perfect. Kind, smart, gentle, loyal, VERY well behaved and not too active. He’s amazing with the kids and has become our labs best friend. Brings tears to my eyes how much love I have for this dog. The BEST breed. My heart will break the day he’s gone. But I can say one thing for sure, if we ever get another dog, it will be another incredible Great Dane! Wouldn’t recommend anything else to anyone. If you want a best friend for yourself, another dog or your kids, these are the dogs! Mans best friend!!
Zeke does some of the best dog documentaries on TH-cam period. Really enjoy everything he does and cant wait to see what kind of dog he features next. Keep up the good work!!
Ela Mongrella I don't get the dew claws since there is absolutely no practical reason for them to have them and they often get in the way, not to mention the nails don't wear down on their own since they don't come into contact with the ground. I have one dog with dew claws and one without, and I really wish the one with dew claws had them removed when she was a puppy. They get caught on rocks and brush, causing mostly minor injuries, but one time her whole claw got ripped out, leaving a gaping home in her foot that required a trip to the emergency vet. They also make it very difficult if not impossible to put on booties for hiking.
I had no idea there was any breed that needed the front dew claw removed! Do they really do that? I had a chow mix with double rear dewclaws, they were only attached by skin and had those removed... I've seen my dogs use their front claw to itch their ears, for instance.
@@julieb3996 Often it isn't necessary. Many reputable breeders take it case by case. If the dewclaws are only attached by skin, not by nerves, they may be removed to prevent injury(but usually don't have to be). If they are attached by nerves, they should usually not be removed. They can be useful to many dog breeds and I read that removing them has been shown to increase some health issues. So it really depends on the dog.
Thank you so much. It was so much harder than I thought and I did not retakes like in Hollywood. lol I am also still daily learning after all these years.
Celeste Vander Ham I absolutely loved you. So honest and humble it’s rare to see in breeders. If I didn’t live so far away from you I’d definitely want one of your puppies! ❤️
Having a great dane, I can speak to many of the points she makes. I've had quite a few dogs over the years and I do have to say there is something special about a great dane that is unlike every other breed. Such an attachment that grows on you that's unlike anything else. Great companions. Amazing personalities, just straight up goofy. Yes they have short life spans, but what you get in return is well worth it.
Thank you so much for featuring the Great Dane! I am on my third Great Dane and I agree with everything this breeder says. They're also very prone to DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy). I've had one drop dead suddenly at 2 years old and have heard from many people similar stories. They're also called the "heartbreak breed" for this reason as well as their short lifespan. Great Danes are such a sensitive and unique breed. I've owned different breeds of dogs in my life (labs, Am Staffs, and Cockers) and the Dane is by far my favorite. I will probably always own them! Thanks again for posting such a wonderful documentary!!!
Wow thankyou for the info, I really want one so bad and I've been doing research. I had a boxer that had the same thing and sadly passed at almost 7yrs suddenly so I guess now I know what to definitely get checked often on them.
My breeder does the same thing allowing people over every Sunday to spend the afternoon with the puppies. I had spent over 15 hours with my pup before I brought her home. I think this also helps the pup be comfortable leaving their mum as well as being great for human socialisation
So you would rather see hound dog ears that get infected, torn and in a few years lose their hearing? No! The canine family all wild dogs naturally have ears that that stand UP! The floppy long ears are a genetic deformation of the origional German breed that were combined by the Creators of the breed! Unfortunately some of the breeds they used had long, floppy ears! It's a throwback from the origional breeders choice of dogs. Do more studying!
@@donnakeeley7924 Educate me. Point me to the research, link me to the studies and research conducted by veterinarians which show increased rate of ear infection in floppy-eared dogs with uncropped ears compared to those with cropped ears. Good luck, because this is outdated information backed by no science which continues to be peddled by people who feel attacked for clinging to their entrenched, misinformed beliefs. The American Veterinary Medical Association has condemned the practice and it is no longer taught at Veterinary colleges in the US. 40 countries around the world have banned ear cropping, and in the UK the practice has been banned for 121 years. One Hundred and Twenty One YEARS. But to hell with science and over a hundred years of veterinary research and documentation, this is 'merica, so you know best, right?
@@aliciaaltair I've heard(I have no evidence) that floppy eared dogs tend to get slightly more ear infections. But if you clean the ears and make sure to dry them after getting wet, the risk is usually no different. And the risk of an ear infection is not as bad as cutting up a dog, causing pain, distress, and possible infection.
We lost our 3 yr old great Dane mix this week and it has been the most devastating loss to me and my children..he was the most loving and loyal creature ever!
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your documentary. Even though I have owned Danes I learned even more from Celeste. I love senior Danes. I just adopted Sultan who is 8 1/2. He truly is my best friend. I'm currently looking for another senior to add to our home.
There really is no love like a love from a Great Dane. I got my first one when I was 18 and she was silver and my whole heart and she taught me everything I needed to know about Great Danes and she was the best dog I had till I got my next Dane last year after she passed years ago. I moved in with someone last year who had a Great Dane and rekindled my love for them and I can’t ever go back.
I'm obsessed with how my dog acts and found out hes part great Dane no wonder hes so perfect. I never met a dog that likes to hug and likes to be held yet at the same time is huge.
We got our first Dane in January and she’s amazing. So loving and so sweet. She is definitely my shadow. I needed a companion to be at home with me. I used to be an RN and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. So she’s with me
Oh MY, Lovely Lady!!! My son obtained a pure bred Dane free because of a hernia and I've been obsessed with videos trying to understand this breed. I've always known that about 7 years was it and that they were truly gentle giants...your video has by far been more informative than ALL of the videos that I've watched (trying to understand my new "grandson"). Thanks so much for your insight and more importantly your true compassion for these amazing but eye rolling, head dropping knuckleheads who destroy your every possession, throw slobber to the ceiling and pretty much guarantee NO REFUND on a rental, but they're sooooo lovable. I hate/love my newest "grandson", he's taken out a few doors, terrorized my animals simply by his size, torn up ridiculous amounts of stuff in my yard slobbered on everything including the ceiling (these are simply visits mind you) but I'm obsessed by him...he's so beautiful and majestic and I can't help but hug him when he's near. I'm an old gal and have had many pets in my life but this Great Dane has floored me. Thank you again for this unbelievably informative video!!!!
Our Dane hates it when the whole family isn’t home!😂 he’s only truly comfortable (no longer staring out the front windows) when everyone is home! And he checks on and cuddles with everyone! Also every person who comes over is strictly over to play with him😂
My friends have a great dane and 4 kids (Now 5 ). The first issue was having the dog recognize children shouldn't be jumped on or knocked over as a play toy. Was NEVER aggressive to any children and now he walks around the kids and doesn't make a game of it. He got out of the yard at around 1 year old and 65 kilos. They were in a panic thinking he was out doing something bad. He just wanted to go for a good run/walk. Got a phone call while I was there and the guy said he had just picked up their dog. Asked for the address to bring him home. He man got out of the car and looked like a drowned rat. Dog ( yes that`s his name ) sat in the car and did nothing but lick his head from the back seat. The man asked for a shower after dropping him off. As he was leaving Dog jumped up and looked him in the eyes and put his head on his shoulder for a cuddle. But Dogs a little bit of a naughty boy and definitely likes his personal time in front of the aircon or heater depending on time of year.
Enjoyed watching, thanks for making this. Just lost our 12 year old male this year. Heartbreaking. Our young female took it quite hard & she'd stare glossy eyed into space, looking utterly miserable after he was gone. They're amazing dogs and have sO much love to give. Smart. Sensitive. Vast vocabulary-you can talk to them rather than just give a command. And they are definitely like shadows! Amazing breed. Definitely make certain to have the time and funds available to spend. & keep those nails trimmed on the regular! Awesome breed
My neighbor has a 7 month old "Euro" Great Dane, named Max. He is a beautiful black Dane, and a sweet boy. He loves my 6 yr old daughter and waits for her everyday, to get home from school.
Great Danes are one the best dogs around!! My neighbors Dane lily is the sweetest and most submissive dog in my neighborhood! I love these dogs so much!
Our Great Dane pup just turned 7 months old last week. Already is up to 96 pounds! Amazing growth rate on these dogs, seems like every day you come home, they grew more! Ours is a gorgeous gunmetal Blue, a bit of white on the chest and a couple toes. We get comments wherever he goes on being such a good looking dog. A couple months ago he discovered he enjoys riding with his head sticking out of the sunroof of whatever car he is in. Needless to say, he gets a ton of looks from passing motorists and brings a ton of smiles to peoples faces. I was a bit put off on the short life span but read a comment from an owner saying they would take 7 years with a Great Dane over 14 years with any other breed. That hit home with me and I am glad I got this one. He is fun, goofy, loving and just a joy to have!
that was an excellent overview of this breed by a very dedicated and loyal dog owner. I was a little watery eyed when she talked about her personal experience with her still born pup and how the mother brought her back to life. I owe my life to dogs as my life was saved from a frozen pond when I was a teen. I've always been dedicated to labs as this was the breed that pulled me to the shore that day. however after gaining more insight from this woman I'm sure that the Great Dane will be my next companion. thank you for putting this woman out there to speak about her dogs. 🙏🏼
I have two Great Danes and they're my life. I have a white brindle female (80kg) and a Great Dane x English Mastiff black male (97kg). They are both all muscle and have the best personality. They would never hurt anything, only if they were a threat to our family. They sit by the kids and just don't move (only their eyes) until the kids move. They lay outside the babies room but never go in, every night. We never taught them this. People do sometimes see them as being intimating but they would only slobber people to death never bite 🐶 I love my babies! I would definitely get more in the future! They're like big babies
Celeste Vander Ham I have a question? Why are breeders so adamant about fixing the dogs they sell, even if the buyer is obviously responsible enough (and has the appropriate setup) to properly secure the dog? The reasons I have been given don’t hold water for me. Temperament and better health (Cancer) should be addressed (as much as possible) at the time of breeding and can also be mitigated by a quality diet (B.A.R.F.) and obedience training. So many threats (in the contract) of coming to reclaim the dog by force if necessary is pretty insane IMHO, but before I completely dismiss their feelings I would like an educated non emotional response. I understand a lot of work goes into the process, and I wouldn’t do anything to destroy the purity of their lineage. Any insight you can give me would be appreciated...thank you! Beautiful dogs by the way!!
Celeste Vander Ham I wish you were able respond to my question, but I understand and respect your not doing so. I enjoyed the information you provided in the video and I wish you the best in your future endeavors! God bless...
So happy to have come across this. You can tell this lady really cares about the Great Danes in her life and is very knowledgable, even if she was nervous. I would like to have a Great Dane for my next dog, and I'm inspired by what she's doing. :)
I appreciate you. And your experience and love for Danes. I have 2 son's. One is a Great Dane, and the other is my son. They are inseparable . Everything you said in your doc. Is right on. Having a Great Dane is a special lifestyle. Best dogs in the world
Never had the pleasure, we had one dane in the shelter. Smart and quite a character! Beautiful and amazing babies! Thank you for a great intro to the breed!🥇❤️
We just focus on the good things and good moments with our Dane. This breed has been a dream for us to have and we're glad we have one. We focus on showing that on our channel, that's what we want people to dwell on.
Just got my first Great Dane puppy yesterday. One day he’s already a lot of work. I’ve been around plenty. I’m looking forward to learning more about the breed so I can be better prepared.
I did not crop mines ears. I actually adopted a puppy from a shelter and was told it was a boston terrier mix...she is a dane/hound mix leaning heavily toward harlequin dane. She looks much like yours. Great video.
Had a female Great Dane who lived until she was almost 13 years old. We loved her and she was gentle and got great along with her brother a Shiloh shepherd. We trained her as a therapy dog and she was great
My husband and I got a Great Dane. Literally the best decision. We absolutely love her and cannot imagine getting another breed. She is so sweet and loving.
Currently I have 4 Great Danes and I've always had at least one my whole life. I definitely recommend having one. But even thought Great Danes are usually calm like she says in the video, some, like my 7 year old female, can be extremely hyper and snippy (with the other dogs). We raised her just like her older brother so it wasn't like she was mistreated, she just has a very bossy personality. Another thing is that there is a condition that Great Danes have a high chance of developing a condition similar to arthritis (I can't remember the name) that causes their back legs and tail to feel like their asleep or numb. Sadly, theres nothing you can do about it but pray it doesn't get terrible.
@@gracekealoha4154 From what I remember of our vet telling us about the condition is that is a natural thing for all bigger dog breeds to have, I believe that it's just shifting of the pelvic bone that starts to pinch nerves that go to the hind legs and tail. In the end, our oldest dane who we thought had this issue, just had a simple bladder infection. Which he is now 10 and still perfectly healthy.
We had a great dane that lived a bit more that 11 years old. He was less than 12 when we eventually had to put him down cause of seizures that were getting too frequent. He was loving and loyal companion, especially to my dad, a really heavy lapdog. May they both rest in peace. Also I love passionate people represented in your documentaries and nice scenery. Keep up the good work!
I have had so many dogs. Chow chows, Labrador, golden retriever, King Charles, pugs, Rottweilers, German Shepard’s, Doberman pinscher, Alaskan malamute and Great Danes. I will tell you the Great Dane has by far been my favorite and closest dog of any breed. I only have Great Danes now and one Labrador. I will always and forever have a Great Dane in my house until the day I die. This has been the most loyal loving affection breed of all the breeds I have ever had throughout my lifetime. It’s gentle affectionate ways have won my heart over. You don’t know what loyalty is until you have a Great Dane. I like all dogs, but the Great Dane has a very special place in my heart. I have a 190lbs Beautiful Brindle that just thinks he’s a 10lbs chihuahua. Anyone who is worried about their size. Don’t be they are super gentle creatures. Those of us who have had Great Danes understand.
GREAT video!!!i love Danes!!!i looked after two for 6 years.they are very expensive dogs...I would also advise future owners to understand bloat...both of my Danes went through bloat(very scary)..lucky they got to the vet quickly and underwent a very expensive surgery .i would also tell potential owners that these dogs take colossal size shits ...so picking up after your dog is a must...if your not someone who does then you shouldn't own this breed. I'm really glad she talked about the cropped vs uncropped ear decision....finally !! I loved the years with my Danes ...they are lovable and protective ...just great dogs!!thanks for another great video!!
I’ve watched this video again and I need to say that I love you being so natural with your dog even though this is a breed made up by humans. Lovely 😊❤
My first Dog, back in the 1980s, was a Great Dane Labrador cross. Rescued at 15 months at the city pound ( like a concentration camp), under weight, sad, I brought him up to about 50kg, and sleek body and coat. Lived to be 16 years, had to go when developed Bad Arthritis, Incontinemce, and general Weakness. A nembutal shot by the Vet gave him peace. Buried in his favourite pine grove. Have had Labrador or Gt.Dane crosses since. NOW looking for a good Gt.Dane, either pure bred, but not up to standard, or X with Lab. Or Mastiff.
I just came across this video. I have two Danes that I am obsessed with and love. I learned a lot from this video thanks for sharing. I'm certain Danes will be apart of our lives from here on out.
Wonderful video! Hats off to this lady, I learned a lot. I really agree with her on removal of body parts for cosmetic reasons. Thank you so much. Vancourt Dog Rescue - a 501(c)(3) - No kill Rescue and Shelter - New scriber
Kinda a personal story, but I thought maybe someone how was on the fence about these angels might benefit from. After a major indecent I had, it was hard for me to get out to do simple things for a multitude of reasons. We had had a previous service animal trained to assist me with being able to safely go out and travel and get my life back together that was a lab. She was a great dog but I just couldn't help but feel vulnerable still even with her to help, so my doctor recommended that we try a bigger dog that I would be comfortable with. When they introduced me to my current service dog I was a little skeptical because of how huge he is. I thought he would get in the way more than be assistance. After a couple weeks of working with him I started noticing that he could pick up on signals I was giving off that my other service dog never caught, and that I didn't even know I was doing. We've been working together for just over a year now, and I can honestly say that he has changed my life in ways I can't even begin to express. I used to have trouble even going to the grocery store, but since we've been working together I was even able to go to a show thanks to his help. This breed has changed my life in so many ways. We're actually going to be traveling to France for work I the next few weeks that I would never in a million years have ever seen myself doing a year ago. They are big and bulky, so of course there are some limitations on where I can take him, but you will never ever find another dog that will make you feel more safe and wanted than a Great Dane.
I'm so happy you were able to see such a drastic improvement in your quality of life, just thinking about how special the bond between you and your dog must be genuinely makes me tear up
it’s not in the amount of time that we share it is the heart and the connection of our souls I have shared my life with Dobermans and great Danes great Danes for 30 years now I found my true reflection of heart in these dogs I’ve never said I owned a dog they are beings with a soul and you cannot own and being with a soul…. you can share heart and home with them great Danes are the closest reflection of the human heart that I have ever found in my life I relate to them in so many ways they are my family my best friend and my protector thank you for sharing information on Great Danes🥰
Just got a call from the lady I am to buy a great dane pup from ^^ 5-6 weeks till she knows if the litter has one right for me :D I AM SO excited !! Finally my own great dane ^^
Watching this nearly made me cry. I love my 5month old dane so fucking much. I've always loved animals, but she just breaks my heart when I think about her not being there. I dont need kids, I'll just get Danes.
I had a harlequin Grate Dane with a merle blanket. I named her Duchess because Great Danes are regal dogs, but she proved her name was fitting for a different reason. If there was a puddle of standing water on the sidewalk, she would go around it. She refused to get her pads wet in the water. She definitely had a firm grasp of proportion when dealing with people or other animals. If it was her size or larger and it was rough housing with her, she would go all out. But if it was smaller than her and rough housing, she would be extremely gentle. There was only one area where she didn't understand proportion, but I liked having a 120 lb lap dog. She only lived to be 7 years old, and it tore my heart out when she passed. I would love to have another harlequin with a merle blanket, or a fawn or a boston. But I don't know if I can handle losing it. She was absolutely my best friend for 7 short years.
If you're going to have a Dane, learn about bloat. Mine suffered bloat at around 4.5 years old. He started trying to vomit after eating but nothing came up. After a few minutes, I realized it had to be bloat. Within 15 more minutes we were in the vet (Friday night) getting an Xray. We then punched his stomach with a trocar to relive pressure. He was whining and in so much pain. We then sedated him and put him on the operating table. There was then post op care for a few days. My house was so quiet and sad without him. Ultimately I was able to save him. Just be prepared for expensive things like this with a dog like a Dane.
I love Great Danes so much. When I was younger I always thought I would get maybe a dalmatian or a husky, but one my family and I went to a pet smart just to look around and the beautiful male harlequin of the euro line was staring at me ignoring anything else in the room right as soon I saw him I knew that that was the dogs I needed in my life. Of course i couldn't get him but ever since I have been gaining knowledge over the years preparing myself for an American line Great dane I cant wait until I get them in the future!!!😍😍😍
Every dog is valuable. I am from Canada, and to be of a Eskimo family of which Malamute/wolves, are gentle. My dogs are from my heart, that is how a human brings a kind hand.I now have a Dane/Lab rescue pup. She was mistreated, an aggressive soul, to no see my care with the assistance of the old closest bred dog to a wolf, a Mahalamuq..
Great Danes have only one fault: too short lives. When they go, they left us with a hole in our hearts so big as they are.

Its going to kill me when my girls go. It makes me hurt just thinking about it

Wow this breeder gives a lot of great information about Great Danes. I love watching Dogumentary TV.
I just love how excited she is to just talk about great danes!! Thankyou for sharing
Watching this while my Dane is on my lap😊
Lap dogs... silly danes.
Keep up the good work!!
yessss, true passion and knowledgeable on breeds and animal wellbeing in general
The part were the mother Dane did CPR for her pup was so amazing!!! Animals are awesome maybe that's why it was named"GREAT DANE" 🤔❤
Great*
What a load of bull that story was, my god.
@@canbeone7277 why did you say so
I really like her opinion on ear cropping, tail docking and dew claw removal.
Never dock a Great Dane's tail. The tail is for balance and eloquence to the overall body of this majestic breed.
I felt like she was very realistic. great video.
Thank you so much. It was so much harder than I thought and I did not retakes like in Hollywood. lol I am also still daily learning after all these years.
I tried one year of 4H Jr Handling for my girls. I also tried the class at the college about an hour from me but I never was in the show ring
Celeste Vander Ham I absolutely loved you. So honest and humble it’s rare to see in breeders. If I didn’t live so far away from you I’d definitely want one of your puppies! ❤️
I have two. A blue Merle and a blue Great Dane Best dog's ive ever had the privilege to be best friends with. Love my girls just like my kids
I didn't know Scooby Doo was a Great Dane!!
K Harris you get 👍🏻👍🏻for knowing that now..
So is marmaduke...
K Harris yeah me too!scooby doo is great danes woow that is amazing facts..
But the saddess part of them is they lived too short.
I always thought Scooby was a ridgeback! Cool!
Me either
AmyDanesForever yes so said I love the breed I am a Doberman owner and dcm runs heavy in that breed as well ... so said how the dogs just drop dead
Wow thankyou for the info, I really want one so bad and I've been doing research. I had a boxer that had the same thing and sadly passed at almost 7yrs suddenly so I guess now I know what to definitely get checked often on them.
Same mine never lived passed 3 years.
My breeder does the same thing allowing people over every Sunday to spend the afternoon with the puppies. I had spent over 15 hours with my pup before I brought her home. I think this also helps the pup be comfortable leaving their mum as well as being great for human socialisation
Thank you for arguing against any kind of cropping.
I just rescued a Dane mix, this was helpful.
Very honest and educational video. Great to see an American breeder against cropping.
I love them! Thank you for sharing
"You just don't automatically remove body parts" Everyone who wants to carve up their dogs for aesthetics should hear this.
And the risk of an ear infection is not as bad as cutting up a dog, causing pain, distress, and possible infection.
take it easy karen
@@THE-zv7vj bro shut up she’s speaking facts
We lost our 3 yr old great Dane mix this week and it has been the most devastating loss to me and my children..he was the most loving and loyal creature ever!
Thumbs up for Celeste. Amazing dogs and outstanding philosophy regarding the dogs and breeding. Cheers! 🙃
Love this breeder and how honest she is! Done alot of homework on dogs and this video was the deciding factor! Keep up the great work!
My Big baby Great Dane, TALOS :) he is a loveable lap-cow. never seen anyone sleep so much!
best. dog. ever.
Wow, that spotted Great Dane at the beginning is absolutely stunning
harlequin ;)
I have a Merle Great Dane 🥰
No, you can never go back.
I’ve always had small dogs, the biggest being a chocolate lab, and last year we decided to get a great dane, and he immediately stole my heart
I'm obsessed with how my dog acts and found out hes part great Dane no wonder hes so perfect. I never met a dog that likes to hug and likes to be held yet at the same time is huge.
Wait.......... there’s dogs that like to be hugged
Thanks Zeke and Celeste. I love this video. Watched it 3 times and will be referring others to watch it as well.
Awe. Thank you for your kind words!
I looove Great Danes! I've never owned one but I want to when I get my own place. They seem like such amazing dogs ❤
Cheyenne Martinez same!!! I have two boxers right now tho
Great Danes are the best! I love my boy so much. I don't think I'll ever want a different breed of dog.
How wonderful you are blessed!
It would be nice if all that wisdom and love could be passed on to the next generation.
I love my dane such a good family dog // he sleep at front door cause the kids are sleeping // he’s always watching
I’m so glad I came across this video I want to own a Great Dane in the future and this was so helpful!!
I always love to see a true dog lover. After seeing this video and listening to her I have no doubt that she is one of these people.
This lady was amazing to listen to. Loved the photography of the dogs. Awesome story about Angel doing cpr on her newborn puppy. Great video🙂👍
This is an awesome video for advice on a Great Dane. I love my buddy Cash, everything you have said is spot on! Perfect for anyone looking at a Dane
We just focus on the good things and good moments with our Dane. This breed has been a dream for us to have and we're glad we have one. We focus on showing that on our channel, that's what we want people to dwell on.
my past great danes lived till 11 and 12, i’m currently on my third one and I can’t imagine getting a different type of dog💞
I'd SO much would love to have a Great Dane! Been in love with this breed for a while.
Had a female Great Dane who lived until she was almost 13 years old. We loved her and she was gentle and got great along with her brother a Shiloh shepherd. We trained her as a therapy dog and she was great
My Girl turned 13 in November they are so amazing
Does that happen due to young age, jumping always and running a lot?
@@gracekealoha4154 From what I remember of our vet telling us about the condition is that is a natural thing for all bigger dog breeds to have, I believe that it's just shifting of the pelvic bone that starts to pinch nerves that go to the hind legs and tail. In the end, our oldest dane who we thought had this issue, just had a simple bladder infection. Which he is now 10 and still perfectly healthy.
Had a black european line dane! He passed away 6 months ago being 7 years old. I Miss him!
Beautiful breed, I wish more people knew how cool they are.
Thanks dogumentary
Such great dogs, im so happy I had one for 7 years and he was my best friend.
I’ve been blessed. I’ve had 2 Danes. One only loved to 8. The other is going strong at 12!!!!
Thank you for sharing, awesomeness!!!
I’ve watched this video again and I need to say that I love you being so natural with your dog even though this is a breed made up by humans. Lovely 😊❤
I had a great dane for 9 and a half year. He was the best compagnion ever and i still miss him
She is a great breeder, she is putting alot in her dogs
Very wised 👌
Wonderful tell-all about Great Danes, thank you!
Great Dane forever. Unbelievably informational video. Great job
Or Mastiff.
I think I'm the only one with a Dane in my town so Andre gets all the attention lol he loves when kids pet him, he evens lays down for them😂
I just came across this video.
Finally my own great dane ^^

fuckin weirdo
Watching this nearly made me cry. I love my 5month old dane so fucking much. I've always loved animals, but she just breaks my heart when I think about her not being there.
I dont need kids, I'll just get Danes.
I'd get a dog from this lady! I love how she raises and breeds her danes. Awesome
Just got my first Dane, she is a fawn harlequin. She is 6 months old and 65 lbs, I just love her.
I also have two English mastiff’s both females.
Celeste your amazing and passionate. Enjoy your Great Danes!
Thanks Celeste, amazing video!
