He definitely is not a better singer now. He’s like a deflated balloon nowadays. He had some range back in the day, and he still had that raspy high pitched voice we all loved. He’s unfortunately lost that now, but he’s still a decent vocalist nonetheless.
Got tickets to see them this November, only to find out that Disarm and Mayonaise won't be on the setlist. No doubt it'll still be a great show, but kinda bummed.
I wonder why he does not re-create the squealing guitar sound, it is a important part of the song. They do on other live versions, still a great version!!!!!
It was due to the reverb on a cheap ass guitar that he felt added the "correct touch" on this tune. Sadly, he retired that cheap ass guitar (his words), because he couldn't handle the constant changing of instruments.
No doubt that Billy is pure talent, but this is typical Billy at the beginning where he messes up, micromanages and directs James, a seasoned, hall of fame guitarist (imo) on how and when to time his tempo, and driving them all crazy. I mean, really is that how you treat someone like James in front of a packed arena? That's why D'arcy never came back. If you look at their body language, the rest of the band seems to tiptoe around Billy. It's not like other bands performing and enjoying themselves on-stage. James and Jimmy are so chill that it only takes a Taoist or Buddhist way to brush off people like Billy and go with the flow. SP goes down as one the greatest bands ever, but I can't imagine working with Billy. "Billy Corgan played nearly all the instruments on 'Gish' He was such a perfectionist that he insisted on playing almost all the instruments on Smashing Pumpkins's debut album 'Gish'. He also dubbed over some of Iha and Wretzky's parts on second album 'Siamese Dream', causing tensions."
Jimmy Chamberlain is an Autobot.. drums so flawlessly and chillin like he's suntanning.. awesome show!
Messing up the intro only makes it that much more real and endearing. Best version of Mayo ever.
BD ok ok hold your horses there chief. Live at metro was pretty damn good
Impossible for them to mess up an inherently gorgeous song. Just another iteration on a journey of beauty.
@@JustinRSarno well said my friend, well said!
Billy is such a perfectionist... I’m sure he was like “wtf” in the moment. 🤣 Live music is just that.
I think it’s perfect
25 years later, i'm still cool enough to not quite see it....doomed.
😎
The 12 string acoustic is a nice touch.
So great to see Billy, Jimmy and James together, Corgan might be the front man, but Billy and 4 other guys just didn´t feel like Smashing Pumpkins
The number one all time SP song . Shame chino didn't shine a light here to .
Beautiful!
So good to see BC JI and JC back together indeed..... but let me tell you D'arcy is missing SO MUCH there.....
Miss the feedbacks...long live sp...
Perfection exists.
Many many thanks
Uma das melhores introduções que já ouvi..
What I would give to see them live! ❤
😎
excellent. 💗
Billy Corgan is a better singer now than he was in the 90s :) This practically flawless
Mooky Blaylock I was born in 1980 if you want to know
OOOOO. Burn

Did Billy Corgan enter the Matrix?

I agree but he was "artificially" creating that sound in other live performances
The story of the $40 guitar that whistles
It can be replicated by playing a harmonic on the fourth fret, but it’s not the same.
It was due to the reverb on a cheap ass guitar that he felt added the "correct touch" on this tune.

What do you use to record? It's absolutely A+
T Skye it really is excellent quality!
Hell yeah!
🎵tiiiiime (cut to James as if they both knew that line was for the three of them) can ease the pain🎵
Billy still a control freak ! lol
Rolling stone survey has this as their most popular song by a long shot.
Mr Billy would you mind if me, Jennie and Gabby take over your band for a little bit. Thanks in advance

First thumbs down gets throat punch.
Thank God I went to MSG show instead
MSG was not there he went to see the SP playing..... SORRY !!!
haha can't believe that Billy messed the intro up!
It was actually James who messed Billy up and I think at first Billy couldn't hear himself...
@Mooky Blaylock, why don't you fuck off?
Billy clearly fucked up. Twice.
Makes him (them) human! Its perfect! 💜
Doesn't really matter, still was gucci
