Tanzania's Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is designed with a high axle load capacity. Specifically, it is built to accommodate axle loads of 35 tonnes. This high capacity allows the railway to handle heavier trains, which is ideal for freight transportation and increases the railway's efficiency and durability.
In comparison, Kenya's SGR has an axle load capacity of 25 tonnes. This difference gives Tanzania's SGR a competitive advantage in handling larger and heavier cargo loads. Also the Tanzanian one is faster than the kenyan one.

If the Uganda govt has no money to start the project, instead is depending on on the loans from outside then the Game is going the next the same story. The SGR in Tanzania 🇹🇿 was started with local funding from the government and did not wait for loans or private sectors.

Uganda's forested hilly landscape and wetlands makes it more expensive to construct roads and railways than Tanzania's flat and semi dry landscape.
The Ethiopian mountanious landscape is even more expensive.

I have a feeling UG and TZ will be debt trapped the same way Kenya was....these projects on paper....the math on the ground is totally different....not enough trains, high transport levies, lots of unnecessary regulations, delays, cost from terminal to door....in the end railways become less efficient than roads even though on paper it shows its 4x less.
