Great video, looks like you guys had an excellent time! My fiance and I will travel to FS Bora Bora at the end of March. One question I have is how are the mosquitos during that time of the year? I am not sure re: keeping doors/windows open during the day, eating meals outdoors, etc. I read elsewhere that mosquitos are typically not a problem at the resort, but on the main island they become more of a factor. Thanks!
Hello Matt. We didn’t have any problems with mosquitoes. I don’t recall seeing any anti-mosquito provisions either like bug netting etc. so I’m guessing it’s not normally an issue. As I mentioned in my video notes, this sounds silly but I wish I had taken an inflatable floating ring or raft with a rope or string to moor it to the room. You otherwise can’t relax in the lagoon as you’ll drift away with the current. That said, that’ll probably be your biggest life challenge when your there. Lol. Have a great time!

@@mattfrias2007 hmm. Now you’re really testing my memory. Lol. But the fact that i don’t remember means it must not have been an issue since water is important to us as well. I’m fairly certain that they provided bottled water in the room. Certainly there were no concerns with the safety of the drinking water like you would in poorer countries.
Thanks! It wasn’t rainy at all for us. However, a friend of ours went in January and their whole week was gloomy and wet. I think the lesson is that rainy season is a real gamble. Based on it, me and my fiance decided to book at FS, but i guess if you remeber what type of overwater bungalow you booked, since I'd really like to have that view with the little island in the middle of the lagoon. Was it a beach view or lagoon view? Additionally, under the bungalow is the current too strong or you can manage it easily, swimming without sea fins? Thank you!
We were in room 122 which was classified as a "One-Bedroom Lagoon-View Overwater Bungalow Suite". Take a look at the map in this link. The little island is not shown in it but it is about 100m or so off of what is labeled the "main beach". Room 122 was one of the two blue rooms right about where the label "101-131" is on the map and it was a great location. Note also that there are two sections that they call the west pontoon and east pontoon. The east pontoon was much more secluded but long walk to get to the restaurants and pool. The west pontoon was much more convenient but less secluded. The current under the bungalow was manageable but not insignificant. It felt safe without fins but you couldn't just relax in the water as you would drift away. Make sure you take a look at my comments in the video description if you haven't already done so and good luck. Don't hesitate to ask more questions. Swimming was allowed everywhere except the area where the boats came and went. Water was nice and warm!
