I would like to do client testimonial videos with my iPhone where I ask a few questions and they respond about their experience. Which mic would you suggest for this?
It might be helpful to mention that if you pick up the Shure MV88 you will most likely have to remove the case from your iPhone to use it. It might not be a deal breaker for everyone but some cases are a MAJOR PAIN to take off.
@@Alzheimers_Mike That's true but keep in mind the leverage added by the extension. If you drop your phone or knock over the tripod the extension will increase the potential for damage to the iPhone lightning port.
The MV88 is fantastic, not only because of the app, but it’s enabled to make adjustments and changes to the pickup pattern. It sounds great too! I’ve used mine many times with my iphone and it’s never failed me. Still a great mic and worth the $$$.
@@iandustries it won’t happen this year except on the Pro Max. I have kept my XR so far for 4 years it still takes terrific pics. When I get the 14 pro I’d still keep it around the same amount of time. Also, I’m pretty sure a way to create an adapter will come along. I still have a good number of years to keep this mic around. Along with my DJI Wireless mic, which also provides a lighting connector with it.
How far it pickup the sound from the mic clear and loud enough?Especially i wanted to use for the interview kind of video between two people. Thanks in advance.
I'm finally starting my golf youtube channel and I'm using my iPhone 11 Pro Max on that same Manfrotto tripod with Moment lenses and the Rode VideoMicro. I also use my iPhone 13 Pro Max with a Movo wireless lavalier on a separate tripod. It's been fun recording the entire round. Have two rounds recorded, just need to get to editing!
I've yet to find anyone that addresses the issue with charging while you have an external mic plugged into your iPhone's USB. the iPhone battery goes quick. Does anyone have any idea for a set up that still lets you charge?

Great video! I’ve been trying to find a mic for my iPhone to use when filming at band rehearsals. It’s just for our ears to listen back to, so it doesn’t have to be the best quality, but any improvement on the build in mic would be awesome. Any tips?
When you use these mics with the iPhone, is the audio from the mic synched to the iPhone video? Or do you need to synchronize the audio and video after recording?
Nice video! I am currently recording free guitar lessons on my channel and looking for the best mic for the iPhone and am currently using the Shure MV88. What would you recommend for the best mic for recording voice and instrument together?
Every lightning to 3.5mm adapter I tried with an iphone 12 pro and using a TRS to TRRS jack didn’t work. MFI certified, actual Apple Product, nothing. In the end the only solution was to get the Rode Video Mic Me-L that plugs directly into the lightning port. Then you have to get a lightning to lightning extension cable if you want to mount the mic away from the camera, and those cables are not long making a boom mount option out of the question.
My biggest challenge with my content is recording in public areas where they play copyright music. Then in post I have to cover it up and it destroys the audio. My 2nd biggest challenge is getting better than iPhone mic quality audio without drawing attention to myself while I’m out recording. We need a viable Bluetooth lav mic. I don’t understand why Rode, diety, and Shure haven’t given this to us yet. We have the technology.
because they cost 25 dollars from a china brand, and they're available on Amazon for that price. My guess is they can't compete / don't want to, for branding purposes.
@@TastingTravel As I type this I have another window open actually and I'm buying a pair, even Think Media (this channel you're viewing this video on), recommended that as a must have fun option for any TH-camr, in another video of theirs. That said, um, I think the guy in the comment above @anthonylharding, might mean by "bluetooth", is "wireless". Since he mentioned not drawing attention to himself I imagine that's what he meant. I've tried them, they are terrible. Ther are not actually bluetooth. they have a reciever that plugs into the phone port and its a major breaking point, I've snapped 3 of them just by putting my phone in my pocket. I've done more research on the RWP and it has a MagSafe compatability which makes it a better option but then it makes the phone bulky and clunky which is one of the things I'm trying to avoid by using my phone. Any microphone company that makes a true bluetooth capable microphone is going to sell billions of dollars worth of them. It would be best if Rode or Shure do it because they already have the quality of microphone down so they should really spend to make this happen@@theyoutubejourney
Hi there- great video...I just got a 15pro max...and I have a Rode Videomicro I would like to use with it for audio. I don't need wireless. I guess ALL I would need is a mini jack to USB-C adapter for it to work with the iphone? Previously this mic would connect to my Canon 90D and draw power from the camera. Will it draw power from the iphone now? I would prefer NOT to deal with adapters etc...but could you recommend a shotgun mic that already has a USB-C connector? Similar in size to the videomicro or the Deity and under $100. No need to spend more in my case. what USB-C compact mini shot gun would you recommend? Something simple...wired is fine-just plug and play...thanks
