    They are a great 4x4. Had mine 6 years got it now on 3 inch lifted coils. Would have left it on air had I known about schrader valves but the coils are a good ride and no faults when out in the remote. Cheers from Perth

    Love my P38! They get a bad rap, but are incredible offroad with simple mods. Someone asked why P38 over disco...the interior of the range rover is SO much nicer than a disco. DII has more cargo space, but also take more modifications to run 33s, which I run. I did get rid of the air suspension when my buddy blew his airbags far from tarmac and had a rough time getting to civilization. Nice walkthrough.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate! Appreciate the feedback, and I agree on the “why not disco” thing too. As you do, I’m now running 33’s too.

    Cracking job mate. Would you mind giving a bit of info about that coolant level sensor setup? I'm interested in doing the same. Cheers and congrats on a great car

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LeBob thanks mate 👍🏼
      The coolant level sensor is a twin prong sensor, pretty simple really, when the level drops the audible and visual alarm goes off in the cab. I can’t remember what brand sensor it is, can be had from most auto part stores quite readily.

      @@Keithy_W I think you actually have silver and not white gold. Silver looks much better. I'm gonna look at a white gold one next week for sale. Only has 52k miles just not crazy about the color.

  • @bazma4411
    @bazma4411 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi,
    I'm looking at a unregistered 1995 model she with lpg , 4.6 ltr
    Anything I should look out for?
    What's the fuel consumption on lpg?

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Barry Matta Being of that age, it will start to show a lot of age-related issues. Mechanics are what you’re looking at here, so things like oil consumption, transmission shifts smoothly, noises from the driveline, etc. It’s possible that air springs, bushes and shock absorbers will need attention.
      I’m not sure where you’re from, but if the roads are salted it’s likely to have rust. I’m not sure of known rust spots on P38’s as there’s no salted roads here in Australia and I’m yet to see one with rust.
      As far as the LPG fuel consumption goes, it will depend on the type of system. If it’s a mixer type you’ll see between 20-25L/100km. Mine is sequential gas injection, I see 18-20L/100km on gas. Then there’s direct injection, that’s the creme of creme systems! I’m not sure of mileage numbers as I’ve not seen any P38’s with this system, I would assume it to be more efficient.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My advice to you - buy the most well-loved P38 you can. One that’s been neglected will cost you a lot of money to get sorted.

    • @bazma4411
      @bazma4411 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Keith,
      I'm in Sydney, it's done just over 337k Klms, so yes a good mechanic is what I need. Thanks for your honesty and reply.BTW your truck looks awesome and well maintained.

  • @billybakker27
    @billybakker27 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have the brand / model of that tire carrier? Thanks

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Billy Bakker It's a Ridjidig carrier. Designed to bolt on to the standard rear end of a 100 series Land Cruiser, modified to fit the P38. The carrier slots into the rear chassis crossmember using box section, bolted in, with a recess cut into the standard P38 bumper for the stub axle to fit through.

    Great setup! How efficient are you on gas? I only am getting 4.5 km/l highway driving on my injected gas setup.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Johann Cerecke Thanks mate! Appreciate the comment!
      I am on sequential gas, and petrol. On LPG I average 4.5km/L (21-ish litres/100km) when doing lots of low range driving, about 5km/L (20L/100km) around town and about 6.25km/L (16L/100km) on the highway.
      On petrol those figures are 5km/L, 6.5km/L (15.5L/100km) and 8km/L (12.5L/100km) respectively.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those figures are as you see in this video - my P38 always has the drawers, fridge, awning, etc attached, and weighs around 2.7t full time.

  • @go8663
    @go8663 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh my lord! Did you do all that by your self?!

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from the drawers and wheel carrier, I’ve done everything to this P38 myself. The previous owner built the drawers and fabricated the wheel carrier.

  • @borisjohnson6809
    @borisjohnson6809 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did you decide to go with the p38 over a disco 1 or 2?

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Calum J I’ll be honest here (no offense to disco 1 and 2 owners). The P38 is a more reliable, refined and more capable 4wd.
      I have friends with all manner of discos and defenders, and (way back when I was looking at buying a 4wd) P38’s. Being around them and talking I found the disco 1’s to be under powered (TDI’s) and thirsty (V8’s), the disco 2’s were unreliable (amigos and oily looms). I figured if the only thing I have to worry about in a P38 is the suspension if it plays up, then I’m ok with that. Hence why you see the failsafe for the EAS in this video!
      That said, I’m just clocking over 250,000km in my P38 now, and I’ve recently lifted it by 2” and got my 33” Tyres. After a brutal 5,000km torture test, I’m still extremely happy with the setup and fuel consumption of my P38

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edward Fox Yes and no!
      I purchased a Holden Commodore ute to use as a daily driver and workhorse, however due to the school run, the fact the ute only has 2 seats, and sometimes towing requirements, I use the P38 more on a daily basis than the ute.
