    I believe the whole Daedric helm/ shield thing is a side effect of how not even daedric enemies naturally wear or spawn with these items, (it's always low level daggers axes etc. Or a Daedric Greatsword, and the Daedra always show their faces) and by the time you're able to craft them, you're not just the only one capable having these items, (besides enemies with leveled loot which doesn't make much sense in the first place, and also excluding the followers you can give them to) but you've also encountered dragons a lot by then, more than anyone else, so the decision might just be a design (intentional or subconscious) choice by the Dragonborn himself.

    • @Digazmo
      @Digazmo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Jacob and Timber that actually makes a lot of sense! I mean, he is the dragonborn and the only one able to craft the daedric armour! I have never thought of that, or even thought about the armour resembling a dragon at all

    i personally believe that both corpses in those ponds are both Snow Elf corpses, the one with the elven axe was rebelling against their masters while the one with the dwarven sword was fighting for them, i say this because in the lore when the Dwemer were removed from Tamriel all traces of them organically were removed, like a Ctrl,Alt+Del sort of thing, but all their inorganic creations remained..

    I think I have a theory for the Dragon/Daedric relationship. Mehrunes Dagon is known for his invasion of Tamriel in Oblivion, however, he was stopped by Martin when he turned into a dragon. This may be a subtle nod to that by Bethesda or possibly the Daedric's lords respect for the Dragons lust for power and destruction of man.

    For the last mystery i think the augur of dunlain may be the true cause. He tried acquiring so much power and ultimately failed. I think him acquiring that much power could've caused the tragedy

    • @dnnygray
      @dnnygray 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Its definitely possible. They never do tell the PC how long ago he became the Augur.

    • @septon4087
      @septon4087 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Danny Gray all actions have consequences. In this case it may not be just one. Tolfdir has spoken to the augur multiple times so it could be around that time as well

    • @dnnygray
      @dnnygray 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      While all actions have consequences those consequences may not always be what we expect or believe. The only hint about the augur's age is when Tolfdir says what happened to Dunlain, "It was all before my time, you understand." Considering in the game files Tolfdir is part of the "elder" race which means that the man is several decades old and this mean the the augur is definitely several decades old at the very least. This means the augur is old enough to have possibly been involved with the collapse. However, correlation does not necessarily mean causation. The only evidence we have is circumstantial. This theory is possible, though I wonder why Bethesda did not put anything in the official game which would explain what happened. It would have made Winterhold a more memorable place. As it is the College and the town itself were quite underwhelming.

    • @septon4087
      @septon4087 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Danny Gray agreed. Although this could be unexpected since a lot of us see the augur as helpful in a way and never expect him to possibly be a indirect cause. As for why the college still stood, I'll go with what the mages said, that they created magical barriers.

    • @casualborn
      @casualborn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      That's a good hypothesis!
      Another might be that the Augur may have been what protected the College. If the Augur existed in his current form prior to the Collapse he may be protecting the facilities or perhaps the mage that would become the augur did so during the collapse by trying to ward the entire college. he may have over extended his abilities and became the Augur when he died by trying to take on too much power.
      The reason I suggest that the Augur may have been trying to ward the College is that in Skyrim wards fall under the Restoration school and the Augur is a significant part of the Master of Restoration Ritual. The Augur appears as a ball of bluish light suspended within one of the wells in the midden, throughout the College grounds there are similar wells that emit a light like it. I wonder if it is through those "focal points" that the Augur maintains the protection of the College.

Paarthurnax, Mirmulnir (at the western watchtower), Vulthuryol (in blackreach) in skyrim survived. So did the dragons under the ice in dawnguard, miraaks dragon and Nafaalilargus (tiber septims dragon) which appears in redguard. There are plenty of places the scales could have come from.

      Two dragons named Ahbiilok and Nahfahlaar survived as well.
      "Ahbiilok - Sightings dating back to the early years of the Dragonguard throughout the northern Jerralls. Multiple attempts to kill him have failed. He is believed to be lairing somewhere in Morrowind. . . .
      Nahfahlaar - Repeated alliances with mortal protectors which have prevented his elimination. His last known protector was the King Casimir II of Wayrest, which the Dragonguard successfully ended in 2E 369. He escaped and current location is unknown."
      -Atlas of Dragons
      Nafaalilargus and Nahfahlaar may be the same dragon, but that isn't confirmed. That brings the total number of dragons that survived to 8 or 9. 9 or 10 if you count Alduin, who technically didn't die but was sent forward in time. Are there any more?

Extra soul. Just FYI. Didn't know if it was already mentioned, or if anyone knew.

    I want a game about the Dwemer. That would be amazing, and finally resolve the mystery. there could even be some references to Morrowind, since the last living Dwarf is in that game. Instead of starting a new story, I want to find out want happened to the Dwarves. Just think about it. You could start off as either a Dwemer or a Falmer. But it turns out that your character is actually just getting the memories of a Dawrf somewhere, and you have to find out what happened to them. You could do so much with the Daedra and Aedra, and time travel! I would play that game in a flash.

    Finding out about the collapse in a cut storyline does make sense but the eye of Magnus causing it due to a time rift doesn't make much sense as if that were the case the college would have been destroyed more than the town as that's where the eye was located. Even with a time rift or something the force being sent back would still theoretically be focused at the point the eye occupied in the present.

    Ay, Nate, not really related to whats discussed in this video but a suggestion maybe if it hasn't been made already? I've noticed throughout Skyrim, originally seeing it in Falkreath, that all the tombstones with engravings on them, are in Daedric? Like Jurgen Windcaller's sarcophagus, but it says something else my shoddy eyes and the pixel quality for my Xbox can't make out. Dunno if you've seen it or someone's already mentioned it, but it's a detail I certainly missed for the longest time and a mystery on its own. Especially in Falkreath, where Arkay, God of Life/Death, is so heavily revered. Why would anything daedra related, especially on tombstones, have any place there? Maybe it's just a lazy move from Bethesda instead of putting a different, more logical, font on them. Either way, it's pretty weird. Thoughts?
    (P.S. love your videos its always exciting to watch your Skyrim clips and go back with my Khajit to see what I might have missed and overlooked! You're awesome and you do an amazing job on your videos!)

    I think the reason daedric armor is different across the games is because the daedra are different in each culture so it makes sense they would look different in each culture. Dragons to the nords are the epitome of evil in their ancient culture, so their “demons” ( the daedra ) appear very dragon-like to them and that’s reflected in daedric armor.

    I have this theory that I recently came up with, and it's pretty much just this so far:
    The Dwemer were all in danger of being wiped out (disease, or perhaps a powerful foe or maybe they were just being cautious), and so they decided to try to hide themselves somehow. At first, maybe they thought about submerging themselves underwater (hence the story of Nchardak in Solstheim being able to sink itself). Then, maybe they considered the possibility of transforming themselves to hide among the populace, which would perhaps explain the origins of the descendants of the Dwemer (the 'mer,' apart from the snow elves of course, due to them already being around at the time of the Dwemer). Maybe, some/all of the Dwemer didn't like the idea of completely transforming themselves and losing all of their natural intelligence and history. So, maybe they decided to instead transfer themselves into automatons using soul gems, being given a certain body based on their role within society. Guards/Warriors - Centurions, Workers - Spider Workers, Commanders/Civilians - Spheres.
    It would perhaps explain why the automatons have soul gems, I'm not sure if they can drop filled soul gems, but if they can then maybe it's because only some of the automatons contain the souls of dwemer, as I previously stated maybe most of them decided to just transform themselves. But, yeah anyway I'm probably WAY off, but until we get definite proof, it's always a possibility.

    Dibella is the Aedra of love and beauty, but isn't really much on the lustful side of love (More of the passionate side of love). I can think of a number of explanations for the dragon scales at the shrine. Possibly they are some leftover remnant of the old war, and were left there by a member of the Blades who also happens to be a worshiper of Akatosh. They may have been taken from a dragon burial mound. They could have been left there by a member of the Greybeards, or perhaps a Greybeard initiate, someone who tried to join the Greybeards but was cast out. They could even have been left there by another Daedra or Daedric Lord. It seems like the kind of thing Sheogorath would do. He's mad, he might have thought putting some dragon scales there was a bit of a joke.
    Or, the most likely explanation is that all that stuff was only put there very recently. The shrine is near Rorkistead, which is in Whiterun hold, and the opening quests in the game require you to kill a dragon in Whiterun Hold, at the guard tower. Perhaps one of the guards who fought with you there, took some dragon scales and left them at the shrine.

    Do the dragon scales appear there before the arrival of the Dragonborn -- e.g. if you were to walk to Rorikstead right off a new game, would they still be there? It's rather reasonable that some worshipper at the shrine had purchased the scales from one of the many merchants I would sell the scales to shed some weight and earn some coin. It would be an interesting bit of attention to detail by Bethesda if that were the case. And, as expensive as scales are, that'd be some hardcore devotion right there, I'll say.

    I think the big mystery with the College of Winterhold is how come that bridge stays up? It does not look like there is any support to keep it in place.
    Is it possible the one of the skeleton with the elven axe is a Snow Elf who died some time before the forge was made. There may possibly have been a revolt by some Snow Elves and his body fell into the water and was not recovered.

    for the dragon scales, Paarthurnax possibly wasn't the only dragon that survived. after all, we have no idea when or why Vulthuryol, the dragon in blackreach, was stuck down there. who knows, it might be one of his from someone who's explored blackreach.

      In my opinion, witcher 3 is far superior to skyrim

    Perhaps the scales are left there by someone who managed to not just survive but wound a dragon in combat

    I think for the first one the skeleton with the elven weapon is actually a Chimer which was a race of elf that declared war on the Dwemer for trying to use Lorkhans heart, they also became the dark elves after being cursed by Azurá for the tribunals betrayal and they are the reason the Dwemer disappeared

    Okay, couple theories:
    1 concerning the dragon scales: maybe ol paarthurnax was out for a midnight flight (stretching them ol wings) and he caught an itch mid flight. So when he went to scratch said itch, he knocked off a couple loose scales. The next day, a farmer was hav I ng a particularly good harvest, he finds the scales in his field, and thinks the good harvest was a blessing from akatosh. So he takes a stroll to the local shrine, and leaves the scales as an offering.
    2 concerning haelgas funny choice in footwear: maybe she herself is a demi daedra. Maybe a daedra knocked up her mom, and her mom kept the boots as a memento, and passed them down along with the story. And maybe that's why she practices the "dibellan arts" so she can spread her daedric corruption around skyrim (which would explain why riften is such a morally corrupt shithole) or maybe she herself is the mortal incarnation of a daedra. They're just theories though. Take em as you will.
